  1. There goes the perfect game, and no-hitter.
  2. There goes Davies' perfect game.
  3. Going against the Brewers without a full force starter that is up and in rotation, seems misquided to me. If they had won last night, maybe I feel better about it. This is the type of team you need to beat, a contender. Even with the "hitting" lineup, it feels like Baldelli and company aren't concerned about the momentum here. The best we can do is get out with a tie in this short series. We certainly don't need to give the Brewers and advantage. Good luck to the soft tossing rookie.... he will need it.
  4. So..... are they just wanting to add 2/3 days rest for all the starters? Is Perez hurt? Needs a couple days? They all need a couple days? With a day off on Wednesday, this really changes the "rotatation" rest schedule.... for all of the starters. They were already going to get an extra day......
  5. Oh the paperwork! IL/DL can definitely be manipulated. It is amazing to watch the Dodgers juggle 7-8 starters around the IL. Paperwork? No problem. Overweight people will have knee problems. Not that others can't, but large overweight people have tons (ha) more. It looks like Pineda didn't take his off year to try to change that at all. CC and Pineda with suffer knee problems for the rest of their life, probably.
  6. I like it. Establish a more equitable market. The current one sucks for young players, especially in the early years when they become the new stars. The vets screw the young players with the CBA that they don't get to participate in, but have to conform to while many often get paid a fraction of what they are worth. Jealous that the signing bonuses got too high, the deal was changed to limit the young players and especially the initial bonuses, and for them to get paid more in free agency, often for performing horribly. Now we watch they getting paid while they perform poorly, compensating for the years they didn't get paid while they did. Horrible broken system. And they pay the minor league players well below minimum wage. It is a shame, but that is the state of the system to date.
  7. The pitch that the previous double resulted from was a pretty lame pitch, too, I would say even more of a miss right down the middle.... so I count 2. And Rodgers knew it. Just didn't have the control to start the inning. Not a biggy. There has to be something wrong with an offense that doesn't score a single run after the second inning, eh? Just because you have a pen that has held it's own so far, doesn't mean that one shouldn't look to improve, especially eyeing the post season needs. To do so would be irresponsible of the Front Office. As for personel to dump or hire, that is a whole other thread with countless propositions that can't possibly be done, or will never happen, by people who don't get paid to do it. It would be fun, though, and I am sure, not absent of massive participants.
  8. Nothing typical about the fans here on TD. A diverse group of obsessed and dedicated fans, so many with insightful critical thinking, sardonic humor, and cagey takes. To analyze is not beating someone up. It that is what one gets from most of the discussion, perhaps they might just be a typical Twins fan.
  9. 8-9 against teams above .500. At least, yesterday, we were 8-8 and then lost one to a team above .500. But now the standings say we are 6-8 against teams above .500. It seems it is being adjusted as teams' records change. It seems to me the stat should be based on the oppositions record at the time a game is played. I was really hoping for a statement this game. I know we can't win 'em all, but I hate losing games that our pitchers are spotted a 4 run lead, and they blow it. 5 unanswered runs by the offense. I hope Diaz gets more agressive about sending runners home, or more ignore him like Rosario. I hope this fascination with a quirky utility guy is coming to an end. It seems Astudillio is better used less than more. It reminds me a lot of Colabello. His OBP is basically his average, so when he only hits .264 with an OPS of .671, he needs to be off the team.
  10. So much for small ball. Buxton on a homer night, too.
  11. Yup. That is a fact. Juiced balls claim is not.
  12. Just over half the teams only 69 or less. The Marlins have 36. The Tigers have 41. Giants 48, Pirates 51, Cleveland 54, Royals 55, White Sox 60. The Phillies only have 61. They must be getting the other balls. I wonder which ones they get when they play each other?
  13. So the lesson? Enjoy and submerge and submit while you can. It certainly will not last forever, and might all end next month, or next week. To deny it while it is happening for the fact it might not last...... then you surely miss it all. Old man here that has paid attention, and knows time is too short to not celebrate when it is time. It is time.
  14. I guess there was no room for Pressly or Escobar, anyway, eh? I mean, Escobar wouldn't be as valuable as Adrianza, right? And who needs a great bullpen option NOW when we have prospects we can follow for years in the minors, and maybe, one of the not even top ten prospects might even make to the bigs, maybe, one day, in several years. I keep feeling, with the dearth of viable options in Rochester for pitching or position.... that we have been very lucky injury wise on the MLB team. None of this lamenting discounts how good this team has performed. It is just wondering how more excellent it might have been.
  15. I was just reading lips, but pretty sure I saw Gibson say, as he left the field, "Bite me, Nibwits."
  16. After 49 games in the 2109 season, it is interesting that the Twins only have been intentionally walked 2 times this year, but who are you going to walk intentionally when they currently lead MLB in homers (98), OPS (.855), slugging (.516), runs (289), extra base hits (208), RBI (277) and tied for run differential (+90); are second in hits (460) and average (.272), and 3rd in doubles (102)! The fear coming into the season with this roster was where the OBP would come from, yet they are 6th (.340), and that there would be massive Ks, yet they are only 28th (366)! They are also only 22nd in GIDP with 29. This is truly remarkable at this point.
  17. I think I heard Gibson say, as he left the field, "Bite me, Nibwits." I was just reading lips though.
  18. I search for "fun with numbers" in the forums, and get nothing close. I can't even find the thread to put anything in it.

  20. Did anyone see that ESPN crew/Scott Van Pelt is/are adopting the Twins as their team as of tonight?
  21. Beat me to it, as the Dodgers slammed the home opener......... https://www.mlb.com/gameday/d-backs-vs-dodgers/2019/03/28/565799#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=wrap,game=565799 Regardless, what the Twins are doing is relentless and amazing.
  22. And something I missed right here on TD... http://twinsdaily.com/topic/32965-article-twins-minor-league-report-52-kirilloff-gordon-make-season-debuts/page-2 From the Strib article link: "The Twins have released righthander Dusten Knight for a violation of team policy. Knight was a hit on social media this season because he liked to do back flips after notching saves; in seven games, he had posted a 1.59 ERA and three saves. Knight, 28, was selected by the Twins in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft last December from the Giants organization." So what did he violate? It pushed him to Mexico?
  23. I found this. Still not much info. Maybe the minor league write ups will tell us more?
