  1. Javier, the slick SS..... had 2 throwing errors in his game, and now has 3 already. Good thing he hit a 3 run dinger, eh?
  2. Consistently wrong/bad, never makes it right, no matter how it may even out. It is a shame that MLB doesn't move into the present time with this issue. A shame, really. It cheats the players big time, and it no longer has to.
  3. One cupcake wouldn't have happened if the ump had guessed a bit better. I don't deny the cupcake, but I don't deny the call, either. Do you?
  4. I hope his middle initial isn't....... "J(ay)".
  5. I agree whole heartedly. I hope for Kimbrel the most, and he fills the most glaring need this team has to facilitate a path through the postseason. Look. Wes Johnson is here, and Kimbrel and Keuchel are bound to have a chip on their shoulder, even if it is outwardly subtle. Keuchel could be as succesful and responsive to details and suggestions, and acheive even better results, than Perez has. However, Houston's brain trust did see fit to not keep him in the fold. I have found that curious since the beginning. Kimbrel wants a return to the postseason to prove himself. They both want to win, and they now see a path for that in Minnesota. The fact that they both had disappointing years by their own standards and expectations, coupled with an infectious buying in that they would be surrounded with, should be the best environment for them. Kimbrel fills a role that we really really need, and........... I bet he could be cajoled to be the "closer" in any inning that presents itself as he fits in and feels the juice, especially as the dog days settle in and we are still ripping. Kimbrel has been there. He knows what it feels like, and he has to want more. To assume they would have a problem or be a problem, and not fit in...... and not be an asset.... just seems ridiculous to me. I am just giddy at the thought of them both joining the Twins.
  6. The only reason Baldellli is "spreading the load" (that's looks terrible) is because there is no closer on this team! To think just "put him in the mix" is not utilizing him to his talents. I like a well rested Kimbrel that could be in the post-season at mid-seaon form.... instead of on the last legs of his year.
  7. After the Magill meltdown, Harper's 2/3 inherited runners scored (and he only needed one out) is hardly noticed in the end... but it is part of the "makeup" coming off the pen. True, very quirky play (and scorekeeper's rulings have been suspect for years)..... but a ball in play comes off of the pitch, his pitch, and ........... they all count.
  8. Odorizzi. Can this last all the way through the World Series rematch with the Dodgers? Magill.... sigh. And to think.......Duffey was ready! Run differential for series..... -3. Record? 3-1 Run Differential. One of those somewhat meaningless stats, sometimes. A glamour stat. In the end, only one stat matters - the big W
  9. In regards to having one job........ the knuckleball catcher........
  10. When the make-up comes off, the truth is known.
  11. The only one they can't redeem is the Phillies (and that was on the road, and the only 3 games against them for the season), as we get 3 at home against the Yankees to finally shake the monkey off.
  12. I keep thinking Diaz is going to cost us a game or two. Holding Kepler at third base? Seems like he holds the guys with speed, and sends Cron and Astudillo. It hasn't really cost us yet, but I really don't care for his judgement. Way too conservative with the speedsters. Really impressive game is so many ways. Gibson bent, but didn't break. Key hits. Time to take the series 3-1 tomorrow. Castro is having a hell of a year so far.
  13. ?? Are they looking at Tampa's third base coach that is on the field, or Diaz in the dugout?
  14. Humbling. I missed the game and have to admit a bit of a shock when I checked in. I really don't see the faith in Littell at all. And there was even an attempt at making his performance sound acceptable in the article. Maybe Berrios can finally pitch well against Tampa Bay and win his first game against them tonight. Time for the Twins to redeem themselves by winning 3 in a row and take the 4 game series. We are only 9-10 against teams with records >.500. Time for that to start changing.
  15. Any status update on this most recent collision's consequences?
  16. Every team wants that shutdown bullpen. Even with a triumvirate of studs for the last 3 innings, things can and do go afoul. There was some good info in this article .... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/05/twins-go-bargain-shopping-reap-rewards.html Harper: Granted, regression for the soft-tossing Harper is likely on the way – it’ll be hard to maintain a .220 batting average on balls in play and an 85.2 percent stand rate, and perhaps even tougher for a fly ball-heavy hurler to continue limiting home runs. Nevertheless, one can’t quibble with the unexpected production he has given Minnesota to this stage. Parker: The 33-year-old Parker has been similarly effective through 17 1/3 innings, having registered a 1.04 ERA in an effort to prove the Angels were wrong in non-tendering him last November. Parker isn’t going to keep this up, as his .190 BABIP, 96.2 percent strand rate, uninspiring strikeout and walk rates (7.27 K/9, 3.63 BB/9), and FIP (3.63) indicate. And not in the article, but Rogers in touting a 1.41 WHIP and a .283 batting average against in 22.2 innings compared to a .95/.206 in 68.1 innings last year, and a career 1.20/.243. If he went down now, it would be career worsts for a season. They all have time to upgrade their lines, and they have been successful so far. But it is not the pen to rely on for the season, and it surely indicates that if this team is to get to and go deep in the playoffs, that the front office's work is just beginning in regards to fortifying this staff that we are all enjoying. And injuries really haven't happened..... yet.
  17. Smeltzer! What a performance. And only 69 pitches in 6 innings. He sure proved my doubts wrong this night.
  18. If he reallty wanted him to get back on the horse, Baldelli would have let him face Perez and get him out this time.
  19. No such thing in the real world. Plus, I said it the whole game when Liriano pitched his no-no...... and he still pitched the no-no. There's proof for ya.
  20. Losing Buxton for one (no) catch is just not worth it in the regular season.
