  1. Stewart's woes have more to do with his pitching than it did with Houston lineup.... it is becoming apparent.
  2. Hmmmmm. And I watch the same games. He has been pretty damn good a few times....... all year. Don't mind the numbers. Baldelli certainly thinks the same it appears.
  3. Hildenberger now has an average against of .333, 1.74 WHIP, and a 5.68 ERA, and this doesn't count the 5 inherited runners scored and passed on to his teammates stats while his ERA was at 0.00 for that opening spell - you know - when he was being written up as being outstanding. The inherited runners were the indication of the future. 6 weeks in.... not really that small of sample now, for a relief pitcher.
  4. I wish Rosario would have been on first when Castro doubled to right..... I bet he doesn't stop at third even if the coach tried to hold him. Probably would have scored, too. (.... with Adrianza coming to bat, especially go for it!) But then, I wish he would have been on first in front of Cron's dinger, too.) Three right handed batter homers off of Pineda's right handed deliveries. Add the one off of Hildenberger.... 4/4. So much for the righty/righty thing.\ Hildenberger now has an average against of .333, 1.74 WHIP, and a 5.68 ERA, and this doesn't count the 5 inherited runners scored and passed on to his teammates stats while his ERA was at 0.00 for that opening spell - you know - when he was being written up as being outstanding. 5. Don't need strikeouts with the bases empty.... just 3 outs. 3 quick grounders or fly balls would be just fine, eh?
  6. I would have just stayed with May, there, for sure. Same result could have happened in the 9th, but I saw no reason to use him for just 7 pitches in the front end of a double header. But then, after last season and spring training.... I wouldn't have been giving him such high leverage opportunites from the get go. Not a fan of Hildenberger. Or his style of pitching. I am probably in the minority, but low leverage if he has to be in the bullpen.
  7. I will never understand why players don't treat every chance like someone can screw it up and they probably will. Even if it is not probable. I mean.... what else do they have to do? It is what they are taught from little league on. They just don't do it way too often.
  8. Hildenberger hasn't had for a while. Hildenberger is not a reliable option. I know he has had his days... but he has also had opportunities. He is very close to what he was in the second half of last year now. I hope they adjust his use. Batters catch up with quirky pitchers.
  9. What roll our team is on. I hope the bats come ready tomorrow, because with Stewart and Pineda pitching, we are gonna need lots of runs.
  10. I hope he makes consistent contact and has good at bats for 3 days.... and then is a threat in the bigs for the rest of the season.
  11. Just a quick aside...... all very small sample, but he is having most of his success, so far, when he catches.... kinda interesting - take a look at his splits. http://www.espn.com/mlb/player/splits/_/id/34878/willians-astudillo I, for one, don't watch for Astudillo.... but I am happy for his success for the Twins. I find him a novelty that .... well.... a great story, like Colabello was. Quirky name, nice story, and a quick start. We will see how pitching to him adapts. I don't find any of his defense above average, but acceptable. Time will tell. I certainly don't dislike him. I just am not on the player people want to watch list.
  12. How is Wander Javier - (EST) - Injured, early May return - doing? Early May has just turned into middle May on the ol' calendar.
  13. Love your articles on this. Looking forward to the others!
  14. I am sure that 2 more innings in this game, in May, this one time, is gonna make a drastic difference in August. Saved him. Wonderful. There will be many days, with no days off the next day, to take time off. It is a 162 game season I was just informed, so there will be plenty of time to rest and not play. Days when you are 0-5 and not dialed in and need a rest.
  15. Oh I get it, and the process behind it. But when the guy has another chance for the cycle? So what. He's 25, and he gets to play baseball with a day off tomorrow. 25 year olds ain't what they used to be, I guess....... get that rest.
  16. Unless they take him out, Polanco...... there it is..... no chance for 6/6. Silly if you ask me. Day off tomorrow.... no need for rest. 25 year olds must need lots of rest. I guess he is almost 26.
  17. To the nibbler nits....... Gibson says "Bite Me!"
  18. .... and 4 of those are in the last 9 games, and then I was more accurate..... so excuuuuuuuuussssssssseeeeee mmmmmeeeeeeeeee.
  19. Cruz either gets multiple hits, or no hits. Maybe two games with one hit, and one of them was a pinch hit single at bat.
  20. 58 to 62%. That's 4 more first pitches in 100. Doesn't seem very signigicant to me. But 58.4 is 28th, and 62.1 is 9th with 60.6 being league average. I guess those 4 pitches mean a lot. Doesn't seem like it would or should, though.
  21. First base production this year.... .202/.268/.403 with an OPS of .671 AT FIRST BASE! I hope the goal is always to get better, and that starts with tryng to perhaps identify where the help can be directed. All Kirilloff does is hit, and he is 21 already.... and getting old. http://www.espn.com/mlb/team/stats/_/name/min/season/2019/seasontype/2/split/79
  22. Sano's total rehab stint line is now 8/20 with 2 homers, 2 doubles, 2 walks, 8 RBI, 6Ks, hitting .400/.440/.800 with an OPS of 1.240! Hey.... let's not get excited though, I know I won't ...... it's only the minor leagues. Pesky small samples. In 3 days, it could look.........
