  1. Now that is down right depressing.
  2. Tell me again about all the pitchers this FO is/will be developing? How they will be so awesome, and be like Cleveland keeps bringing up every year.... I didn't make this up, right? I actually read about it right here on TD! Right?
  3. Bummer. Another almost 40 year old starter to not be excited about. And they will pay him almost 2 million more than Berrios. Must make Berrios feel real valuable.
  4. It might be possible that your post is assuming the assuming, and that the inference was clear to begin with without assumption.....
  5. 2015 was a tough year for the Twins in the drafts. Tyler Jay and Javier. And look at all they missed for less. Ouch.
  6. This means nothing. Hendriks' eyes are getting closer and closer together, and he is only going to decline, starting this year.
  7. Do you really think Maeda is going to pitch as well as he did last year for a whole season? It seems most are just assuming 2020 is what he will be from here on out, when, so far, it is a bit of an outlier. If this team is going be a World Series Team, the pitching better be a lot better than it is now. Or was last year.
  8. No he isn't. That's not what I am reading. Not at all. I am reading several examples that point out nuances and consequences. Good luck to Cleveland coming up with an unforced name.
  9. How much has he been enjoying himself? Like.... how much does he weigh now?
  10. Another example if you are not on the Twins and your 2020 sucked, that you have all hope and rebound in your future. Compared to if you are on the team already and your 2020 sucked, you are toast (like many feel about Garver). Funny how that works. I don't buy it. I can't believe the 3 pitchers that have been signed to take up a roster spot so far...... Robles, Gibaut, and Waddell.
  11. DJ LeMahieu is thinking big (and we settled for Jonathan Schoop 2 years ago when we could have had a bargain, and my bet is the Dodgers will be the ones thinking big this off season). Trevor Bauer is thinking big. Semien? Think Brian Dozier's best season and even Twins' fans were still wanting to move him the next year. Semien's 2020 is excusable and still makes him desirable, but Garver's 2020 negates his total progress through 2019? Go figure. Semien, Simmons, Hernandez..... all good fill and any could break out again. But then, so could Royce Lewis. And so could a healthy Polanco! To me, this is thinking status quo, which right now is not bad. But I don't get a thinking big feeling from this possibility, at all.
  12. It is actually a Paul "Brown" the famous coach being honored....... look it up...... but certainly it is also a color. And the Reds is short for, and evolved from "Red Stockings" (The team became known as the Cincinnati Red Stockings due to its wearing knickers rather than the traditional trousers, with red knee socks- a costume condemned as "immoral" by the more prudish. It became baseball's first openly all-professional team when it became fully professional in 1869). The Cardinal IS however, referring to the color and not the bird, hence the singular. Words and their meaning can elvove with time and cultures it seems. Thanks for your help though, about color being one of, and the original meaning of the word. But upon further exploration..... does brown even exist? It exists because of context, and not wavelength.... but I digress.....
  13. Me too (no hashtag). I am sure he uses the term with intention of showing respect. Did I say that origininally? - yes, upon re-reading, I did. Just demonstrating how offensive calling the indigenous tribes "First Americans" is.
  14. I know that "First Americans" is meant as respectful, but that just goes to show how tenuous this discussion is. I would bet they would find that even more offensive.... to steal their homeland and call them that. They aren't Pilgrims et al. After all, the land we stole from them was not America to them. Cleveland First Americans would certainly not fly.
  15. Good thing animals can't talk, eh? But then, some might be honored and see it that way. And speaking of Cleveland, what is a "Brown" anyway? Maybe the Indians should be the Cleveland Shirts. After all, they can't be the Skins.
  16. I agree. He looked a lot older than when he was 38. Totally. The chances were slim in 2017, and 2018, and 2019 and...... He looked a ton older than someone like, say, a 32 year old Brian Dozier, or a 25-26 year old Miguel Sano - and a ton older than Christian Yelich looked in 2020, and was just lucky to out perform just about any one in MLB. You can't find the next Cruz anywhere. He is a freak of nature. So freak-out! 1 or two more years is pretty far from forever.
  17. A .900-1.000 OPS hitter jams up the DH? In my book, replacing that with a rotation of batters that don't come close to that is ludicrous. That is exactly what you want as a DH. Jams up the DH? That's the best jam a team could have.
  18. Hole at back up catcher? Watch for a Garver/Jeffers tandem to have the best catcher output in MLB in 2021.
  19. Yup. Luke Sims. We have him to thank for hitting Buxton in the head with a 92 mph fastball, giving him a concussion, and taking him out of the lineup on September 25th. Just what we needed. Thanks. But no thanks. I would pass on all of them.
  20. With only 35 on the 40 man....... there is plenty of room for surprises.
  21. With only 35 on the 40 man.... Romero would have not been an immediate burden at all, I would think. They were done with him, and made the 300K.
