  1. It sure would be nice if the umpires can fill the live crowd in on what is going on when something like this delay happens, or when anything is happening that someone can fill us in on. As the fans got tired of waiting and started rumbling and booing and expressing their dissatisfaction with the unexplained delay that was lasting waaaaaaayyyy toooooo long, the powers that be just started blaring loud rappy hip hoppy type of music unmercifully at way too loud a volume. A special kind of rude crowd control to drown out the fans. It was almost painful. From listening to the post game videos...... I lean toward Molitor was thinking one thing, but saying another. There has to be a better way to officially do substitutions than pencil written lineup cards in three different pockets.
  2. Yup. The same terrible Detroit team that has taken 3 consecutive series' from this remarkable Twins team (and the Twins are 3-6 against this season).... the most recent series that featured crushing the massively inconsistent since May 7th Santana, our supposed all-star "ace" in the first game, and our all-star (I still kinda choke to say it) closer, Kintzler, in the final game (with both Santana and Kintzler facing Cabrerra, who went 0-7 in the series) - the bookends around the stellar game by Gibson. Best to negate the most recent performance for arguments sake? I look at it differently, I guess. I don't punish right after good behavior. It confuses the process.
  3. So true. Today's baseball slides by the base and reaching out or back are lame. And it was Grossman again. So slow. (Glynn almost sent him again later in the game! Glynn holds Buxton, but sends Grossman.... go figure). It was only close because the catcher set up so so poorly for the play. If catchers set up behind the line instead of in front of the line, a lot more runners will be out. I thought it was to hard to tell and reverse, and the umpire call could not be overturned. if the umpire called safe, that would have stood, too.
  4. Hoping Sano becomes MVP level, and him actually doing it....... are two drastically different things.
  5. Can't serve it up with 0-2 counts. Taylor.
  6. At least Kintzler gets the night off, eh?
  7. I remember the pundits here and elsewhere, in their prospect lists.... dissing Garver in favor of Turner the whole way up the ladder. I always contended they were wrong. I still do. You don't get judged the collegiate Johnny Bench award runner up (to Turner) if you can't catch in college, too.
  8. Turner is finally back on the Reds active roster after suspect long DL for mysterious hammey...... has been in 20 games with 43 PAs. The Reds are carrying 3 catchers again. I guess they really want him and his .179 average and .489 OPS. I remember when catchers were expected to hit, and did...... and it wasn't that long ago. Now... shortstops don't need to hit, catchers don't need to hit, center fielders don't need to hit.... it really is ridiculous.
  9. Duffey.... throwin' meat. First pitch, predictable meat.
  10. Whatever. Not what the record of the at bat on Gameday shows. Great pitch. Even better than the 3rd pitch. Trust what you like. Seems to be in vogue these days. I go with science.
  11. Adrianza? Not according to the machine. Great pitches. All three balls fully in the zone.
  12. I am soooooo tired of watching Grossman not swing the bat. He just begs for a walk, and watches the third strike, that, even if it was a ball, is very hitable. This time...... the first (a good take, tough pitch to hit), but the second, AND THIRD strike..... meat.
  13. Total drag. I have to see Colon in LA on Monday! Perhaps a 2 game rental. What a joke. Wait all year for these games and Falvey and Levine gives me Colon! The only good news would be he retires or leaves the Twins. Looks like the Twins will miss Kershaw (in rotation to pitch Sunday), and one of Wood or Hill. Hard to say yet with the all the Dodger pitchers available exactly who will go on what day, but Kershaw will not be pitching against the Twins.
  14. Assigning feelings to me. Perhaps projection? I call foul and against the TD rules. I don't have to have a reason. I think this makes the Twins a side show, and it sucks.
  15. I don't care. Can't stand him. Disgusting. Who's next, Dennis Rodman?
  16. Ahhh, so it was. Castro didn't come in until the 8th!. Does that now mean they BOTH can be easily played?
  17. Castro can be easily played. First the Angels double steal, and then about 10 days later, Houston. Physical errors I get. But today's run on a throw to first after a strikeout. Inexcusable. At least in my book, and for a pro that is supposed to be so good and smart. Buxton is already mixed. That double that Rosario couldn't get to, sure seemed like made for Buxton. Two runs there. Those three runs are the ball game today. Great observation on Gibson being sent out for the 7th.
  18. Mauer cutting Rosario's throw off 15 feet from a play at home is a real head scratcher. Santana was hopping around with the same "what is he doing?" vibe, and Castro was covering his amazement up well. Was there a play? Certainly. Could he have been out? We will never know. Color me perplexed. http://m.mlb.com/video/v1608639383/minhou-gurriel-crushes-an-rbi-double-off-the-wall
  19. So far, even Castro (who has been better in the past but is not helping the staff, it seems) has been disappointing. I can't say I have been happy with the very few things that the new FO has done. They sit back and watch real well, though. Colon is my least favorite move. I dislike it even more than Wilk and Belisle.
  20. Berrios? I totally agree. Polanco? I see a Florimon playing a lot of AAA ball and bouncing around as a utility throw away over and over and over.
  21. The bad news...... and the horrible tragic pitching news. And Granite will be bouncing balls in to second from the outfield.
  22. Other than Hughes, the bullpen picked a relatively worthless game to perform well. 9 walks, 2 errors, a HBP.... and the bats managed to get only 5 hits and went 1-13 with RISP. 11 LOB and 13 Ks. Our pitchers, especially Pressly (2 out of 25 pitches), couldn't buy a swing and miss, and Hughes is toast. Berrios lost his cool, for sure, and 2 of his seven runs were let score by Hughes and the 0-2 meat to McCann. Houston left the door wide open for a comeback, and the Twins couldn't step through the threshold, inning after inning. It happens. And against Houston this year, it happens every game.
  23. Far too adventurous for the stoic old man, especially since what do they have to lose!?
  24. Maybe is Granite's name was Flint instead, we would be getting a spark instead of a fizzle with a wimpy arm.
