    The bad news...... and the horrible tragic pitching news. And Granite will be bouncing balls in to second from the outfield.

    Other than Hughes, the bullpen picked a relatively worthless game to perform well. 9 walks, 2 errors, a HBP.... and the bats managed to get only 5 hits and went 1-13 with RISP. 11 LOB and 13 Ks. Our pitchers, especially Pressly (2 out of 25 pitches), couldn't buy a swing and miss, and Hughes is toast. Berrios lost his cool, for sure, and 2 of his seven runs were let score by Hughes and the 0-2 meat to McCann. Houston left the door wide open for a comeback, and the Twins couldn't step through the threshold, inning after inning. It happens. And against Houston this year, it happens every game.

    Far too adventurous for the stoic old man, especially since what do they have to lose!?

    Maybe is Granite's name was Flint instead, we would be getting a spark instead of a fizzle with a wimpy arm.

    Twins' bats, no problem swinging and missing. Bases loaded and no walks or hits. Amazing, I smell fate! Comeback!!!!

    Now 2 out of the last 3! he is on a roll! But no runs scored.... lock down. Now 3 more Twins' runs, please.

    22 pitches, and not one swing and miss... there it is... one. 23 and 1.

    Pressly cannot miss a bat anymore except if the batter doesn't swing.....

    Well maybe not. But still 5 innings to catch them. That was a start. At this pace per inning....., and a lock down pen.... we can tie in the 6th, and take a 3 run lead in the 7th.

    I agree. Of course we all know better. That is why it is silly to call it an 8 run error. It really is just the one run error (the batter's, or the runner fielder's choice out), maybe two if a double play could have been pulled off (which we all know can never be assumed, right?). Unearned runs allowed tell me a lot about a pitcher. It tells me they lost their cool and could not overcome the small bit of adversity. The high bouncer was just unlucky. Berrios is supposed to miss bats, too. Berrios should be able to rise up and cover a little error. That is his job.

    A catcher can set up just behind the plate, too. Just can't block the plate. The runner can't run into the catcher if he is not blocking the plate. Castro sets up behind the plate, and Springer is probably nailed. This type of play is happening a lot, now. Setting up that far in front of the plate is not a good strategy, I think. Better to see the action in front of you, than be blind of what is happening behind you.

    Polanco is making Hughes suck, too? Quite a reach for the young fella.

    Shame. Berrios can be rattled pretty easily, at least today. It seemed he lost all his touch and had no action. Yes, Polanco started it, but an ace will overcome. Houston is killing this team. And all the other teams. We are not alone. But this is why you don't go all in this year, and sell off too much talent for one pitcher that can get hurt or start sucking, anyway.

    Poor Roberto. Hadn't pitched in two weeks. Seems he is bringing bad luck too. Yuk. And not the funny yuk. I still can't believe that we might have to suffer through his presence on the Twins. I refuse to give him a break. The Braves knew what they were doing. He sucked.

    Maybe. But if you look at the erratic and mediocre performance since May 7, I find it hard to see that he couldn't create more value if he actually pitches more consistently.... and better.

    Tampa is holding a Wild Card birth at the all-star break. Unless something terrible happens in the next 15 days...... why would they trade Archer to anyone right now.

    Well..... drafting them in round 1 is one answer. Drafting 1:1 and Hunter Greene was an even better answer. The also have a mega rich owner that could, and should, treat this ownership more like a hobby and try to win and open up the bank and pay up and at least give back to pay for the money the taxpayers contributed to his team. You can't take it with you, and you can only use so much money when you have that much. Just ask Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. But hey, folks can come up with all these speculations and play pretend GM all they want, and that is what this site is somewhat for, for sure......... but the answer is more simple and ownership/managemen needs to at least try to get good pitchers and spend the money. I don't mind trading prospects. It is all a crap shoot. I don't mind giving the new FO a chance. I just wouldn't trade Gordon at this point. I would trade a bunch of the pitching prospects that I think are not going to make it anyway, and buy some great free agents, and give them opt outs. You know they are greedy and will opt out and let you off the hook, anyway. But that way, you might get a year in there that you actually win!

    It was a cheeky comment. Seems to ruin it if I have to explain it. Shelby is a great example of what can happen. If I am the GM, I am not trading Gordon this year, for sure.
