  1. I have a hard time thinking the Cleveland owner, back when they picked the nickname, was doing it to honor Native Americans.
  2. The hangover from this will last well into next season, imo.
  3. If we still had Duending it would be easy to make a deal.
  4. Kepler, Gordon and Romero for Archer and Span. TB saves around 15 mill for a few years dumping the Span and Archer contracts adding a couple cheap contracts. Span could play RF for a year still is an ok player. Kepler plays right away, 5 years of control. Gordon and Romero should be ready within a year and will be cheap with long term control.
  5. Just sign Cobb and save the prospects and/or a lot of money. Probably close to the same value for a lot less.
  6. Career $47 mill earnings... amazing!
  7. Can't they DFA him? Nobody would take his contract if he went on waivers and he'd need to report to Roch to collect his money wouldn't he? At least he'd get innings and could prove he's worth something or not.
  8. Don't forget the Twins are getting a $50 mill check from MLB this spring, so they should be able to bump up the payroll this year with how low it starts going into next year.
  9. The Hughes contract sure stinks without that it would be a lot easier to sign a top pitcher. Not much next year, money to sign Harper!!! funny thought.
  10. Bet the Yankees would take him for 3B but probably wouldn't give up much. I'm sure his trade value is down a lot right now. If he stays, which is likely, he has some serious image rehab to do this spring.
  11. I sure hope Gold Gloves are not used by HOF voters to asses players. Probably the worst most meaningless award offered, imo.
  12. I hope he retires. As you point out 36+ yr olds are few and even fewer are the ones that produce. He doesn't need the money and the Twins have guys that can take the spot.
  13. A good signing at this point would certainly make us all, well most of us, feel better.
  14. Maybe a trade centered around Sano for Archer? They seemed to do ok without Sano and his long term injury concerns have to be considered.
  15. Until Kepler can hit LH pitching I think he should be down around 10, move the others up.
  16. If he's released all you'd need to pay him is the minimum about 600K. If he's a problem or doesn't play hard you cut him, the money would be meaningless. Plus Pohlad is getting a big tax cut he should use it to create some more baseball jobs or lower beer prices.
  17. I think a lot of Twins fans over value Kepler at this point. Not hitting LH pitching hurts his value a lot, imo. Frazier has the two extra years of control and he still has the high prospect shine on as he hasn't played enough for any big flaws to show up.
  18. It's hard to expend much energy thinking about the off season to this point.
  19. This contract doesn't hurt the Yankees and won't hurt them ever. They make soooooooooo much money any number of contracts won't hurt them. They might complain about cutting payroll but don't ever worry about them running out of money.
  20. $2.5 million would make me smile!
  21. It seems this may not be a done deal.
  22. They will likely spend it but it might be on a radio station or car dealership.
  23. Hope they are drinking plenty of fluids so they don't cramp up.
  24. But, but the Twins have the inside track on players coming over from Norway and Sweden. Who wants sushi when you can get lutefisk?
