  1. I'm fairly sure it wasn't him but his agents. Nice way to get a book on nearly all the teams for future neg. He likely has always had a small list of teams he'd go to but his agents are milking this for all it's worth, imo.
  2. I don't think I said anything about giving up on him. But I recall the draft he was picked the tv guys all expected the Wild to take Boeser and were surprised when they took Ek. At this point Boeser would look really good in the Wild lineup. In 5 years maybe it looks the other way.
  3. After some poor drafting, passing on Boeser and taking Ek for one, and a few bad trades where do you start a rebuild? Lack of draft picks hurts and who could you trade that would bring back anything good? Maybe at the deadline you could get something for Stall and Dumba. Could you really get equal value for guys like Nino and Coyle, I have my doubts Chuck can.
  4. I'd take Longeroia if they would take back Hughes in the deal.
  5. What kind of Japanese culture and population does the Twin Cities have? Just a guess but probably very small not like on the coasts anyway.
  6. "War, What Is It Good For? Absolutely nothing..."
  7. The Twins have the money to sign him and should know in a few days if they have a chance on Ohtani. Still think that chance is slim to none.
  8. On a MLB Network roundtable yesterday they were really high on Santana for whatever that's worth.
  9. Any proof that he took roids? Wonder why they haven't dropped Hughes from the 40 man, could only hope somebody claimed him.
  10. People have Vikings expectations? Odd you'd think they'd know better by now.
  11. It's an unwritten rule, no math on Twins Daily!!
  12. My guess is the other 4 players used up the other 2+ mill in money. If Urdaneta and Andijar signed for anything over $300k that would likely use up the money. Jelfry Marte, ss, Dominican Republic (No. 13 prospect), $3 million. Carlos Aguiar, of, Venezuela (No. 30 prospect) $1,000,000 Luis Baez, of, Dominican Republic, $300,000. Nomar Urdaneta, ss, Venezuela ??$ Jose Andujar, of, Dominican Republic ??$
  13. I don't see it happening but signing Darvish might be the best way to get an Ohtani signing.
  14. Just sign JD Martinez you don't need to give up anybody and he'd be cheaper.
  15. The Strib says they have talked to all the other teams so far. This may be nothing at all.
  16. BA has the Twins farm system #19. Trading two top 100 guys would drop them into the mid 20's probably. I would think spending money on free agenets is a better way to go.
  17. It could work if you rotated Mauer and Santana at 1B and DH. Santana certainly is better than Grossman. Mauer could probably use more DH time as he gets older. Problem would be if Sano isn't ready to play in the field, move him back to RF? (joke). The Indians are kind of up against salary limits I've read so they may not have the money to re-sign him
  18. Why my comment gets twisted around to a complaint about the Twins NEVER spending I don't understand. I was commenting on one instance that I don't think they will do. I made no mention about past or future spending just an opinion on this one player.
  19. My opinion right or wrong. I just don't think, in this case, they will spend it. I will be happy to be wrong.
  20. If I understand it the initial money is signing bonus. The money the three highest pool teams have is around ($3.5m) what a mid teens draft pick would get. He then gets treated like any other first year player. He'd make ML minimum until he has playing time to gain arbitration and then after 6 years(?) he hits free agency. They changed it a few years back and I don't think you have a bidding war with his current team they now just get a $20m fee for his rights after he finds a team.
  21. The pool money is not the issue for the Twins it's the 20 mill they have to pay the team he plays for in Japan. The Yankees can afford that, the Twins won't pay that, imo. I've read that the Yankees might trade Betances, my idea is to trade some of the int. pool money to the Yankees for Betances. Might be a bad idea but I'm full of bad ideas.
  22. Give him a Nishioka jersey if he signs.
  23. You wouldn't move to Japan for a couple years for $2 mill? Really only two half years.
