  1. 45 minutes left? Things should start going fast now.
  2. A silly rumor being spread is Price and Zobrist to the Tigers. Now that would be something! Do the Tigers have that much in their system to do this? I'm going to keep thinking it's silly talk.
  3. Who wins the foot race between Vargas, Parmalee, Arcia, Colobello and Willingham? Wonder if Vargas can play center field?
  4. Left handed should fit in the middle of the rotation and we'll have him thru 2017. Bring up May and Meyer with Hughes and Gibson it starts to look like an ok rotation going forward. Not sure where Nolasco will fit in.
  5. Twins just got Tommy Milone from the A's. Sounds like a good move without knowing what he cost.
  6. Lester and Gomes to the A's for Cespedas. Nice starting staff for the A's rivals the Twins staff.
  7. They should DFA him and move on to younger guys but I don't think they want to swallow the 3 mill plus they still owe him.
  8. Not sure this is apples to apples. One pitching in the dome with turf and in the American League and the other pitching in the Natl League in a hot muggy park with grass. Of course, maybe all these stats factor that in?
  9. Saw the title and thought it was an ad for a sperm bank!
  10. I don’t see tempting fate, your best players career and a lot of money, with Joes head makes any sense so give 1B a 3 bobber and look for another catcher. Sign Brian McCann for maybe 18m a year, not much more than Morneau got, and that's 3 bobbers. So you have a solid 1/3 of the lineup at least something to build from. Pick up a guy like Nate McLouth to platoon (dirty word) with Mastro, let Doumit, Arcia and Willy rotate RF/DH. Try getting Franklin Gutierrez ( and hope he stays healthy) to fill the CF spot until Buxton is ready. That might add another bobber. http://www.coupons4utah.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Fishing_Cartoon_02tra.gif I'm guessing the off season will look like this!
  11. He certainly has had a lot more face time with the media the last few months. If he is being given a greater role in the org. who knows, none of us anyway. Some of the things he said don't really match up well with what Ryan has said. I don't know if that means anything but usually they are all on the same talking points.
  12. Don't forget the first game the "Twins" played was a 6-0 win over the Yankees back in 1961. Complete game shutout by Pedro Ramos.
  13. The estimate is that 40 million people play baseball in the US at all levels and Major League teams carry 750 on their active rosters. Being one of those 750 even for a cup of coffee means you are a very good player. My question would be how many homeruns did you hit in the majors?
  14. Clearly people that write these kinds of things have no idea how hard it is to make it through the minor leauges to play "at the major league level" and how good as a baseball player you need to be.
  15. Hosken Powell, Willie Norwood and Bombo Rivera doesn't get any better than that!!
  16. He's great that's why he cleared waivers and signed a minor league deal.
  17. You used AL numbers for your base and all 3 of these new guys are NL guys. Is that apples to apples?
  18. you can only charge major league prices so long with minor league talent on the field.
  19. Let's see Baker will be ready to pitch come spring training? Gibson had the same surgery 9 months before Baker, Gibson started throwing about a yr after his surgery. He has now been pitching limited innings to build arm strength. They are talking about him starting in the pen to limit his innings next yr. Unless Baker is a super healer you'd think his rehab would be about the same time line as Gibson. That would have him build arm strength until about June and added to the rotation mid season. Nathan had his surgery in the spring like Baker and really wasn't back until mid season. I'd expect about the same from Baker.
  20. Joe signed his contract before the Twins had played a game at Target Field. He still was under contract for 2010 when he signed (March 2010) the new contract that started in 2011. Small error. I would listen and consider any offers. Joe while a very good some say great player he isn't the kind of player to carry a team. For 23 mill a year you should, at times, be that player, imo. Twins pr is bad enough right now trading him would cause a riot.
  21. My question is what are the chances of Baker making any ML starts prior to around June 1 next year? Why would you tie up payroll and a 40 man spot on a guy you really don't know if he'll ever be the same? Isn't it more likely some team signs Baker to a make good contract in the spring after he has had time to throw and show what he has?
  22. No playoff wins since 2004, 99 loss season last year, 14 gms under this year and the feeling from a lot of people is things are ok, a bandaid hear and there we'll be ok? I can't help be a lot depressed.
