  1. Can you toss me some logic why we would trade a 25 year old athletic OF for a soon to be 33 year old OF that has a triple slash of: .252/.308/.423 outside of Coors Field for his career?
  2. Makes sense to wait for official word before biting the manager's head off and throwing him under the bus. Feel better tomorrow Trevor.
  3. https://cdn-b-east.streamable.com/video/mp4/xbk3j.mp4?token=RNCqkljBfl1Domk876h3-Q&expires=1534386327 You will be humming it all day
  4. On the other hand Forsythe is a year and a half removed from a 3.4 WAR season. I know he was brutal with the stick in LA this season, if they don't think Gordon will be ready next year (not looking good) I could see extending a 1 year "prove it" type deal for Forsythe. He's only 31 and the Twins do have a lot of depth up the middle in the minors. I would be surprised to see them going to free agency and signing a multi year deal to a 2B/SS this offseason.
  5. I would say because Adrianza is the only viable backup for all the infield positions, so he is being used in a utilityrole. Let's be honest with ourselves here, Adrianza will be 29 next week and we know what he is. A light hitting, glove first infielder. If he were 23 and shown signs with his bat at any level, I would get this gripe, but eh...
  6. He wasn't even that bad last year and they paid him a small amount in $2M. I don't get why we get so hung up on him around here. Edit: This is based on the signing last year, not the current one
  7. I guess I am the opposite and will probably watch a lot more Twins baseball than I have in the last 2 months.
  8. What was wrong with the signing in the 1st place? He was coming off a year where he pitched 46 innings to the tune of 1.76 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with Washington and they gave him $2M. It wasn't a bank breaker. Bringing him back this year was a bit of a head scratcher , but are you really just going to use that to judge the front office's intelligence? The uproar and outrage over Belisle on this forum is so blown our of proportion it's incredible.
  9. If Buck and Sano both break out to their potentials that we have already seen in the past, you can always add as it's happening. I don't see how that would be burning the window at all.....unless they let all their free agents leave and do nothing in free agency, but I think that's a whole 'nother conversation.
  10. You aren't talking about trading the farm for an elite reliever though, and that would never be in the conversation, so I think that's a bad comparison. Other people might have said it, but I never said I wouldn't trade for an elite player. I am just not shelling out the pieces it would take to get Realmuto simply because of the position he plays. The current front office has been in place for less than 2 seasons, why are we already sold and made up our mind on them? (I know a conversation for another time and thread.)
  11. I mean it as a luxury because there are so few of them in baseball. You can count on one hand how many catchers are an above bat and glove. How many other positions can you do that? Having a two-way catcher at the moment is the biggest luxury outside of an ace starter. Why only in quotes? It's an actual average of how many games he has started behind the plate the last 3 years. He catches 75% of the time, which is great, but you still have Bobby Wilson starting and playing 40 games. BTW...he has never been a 5 WAR player. He is on pace for it this season, but his previous career high in WAR is 3.6. I just have a hard time selling the farm for a catcher, no matter how good they are. If you already have one that's fantastic, or paying one in free agency, but considering how much they play, how easily they get banged up and short their shelf life of above average defense is behind the plate......give me a defense minded, below average hitting catcher and trade your top specs for starting pitching. But, just an opinion.
  12. Having a two-way catcher will always be a luxury IMO. When Joe was winning a Gold Gloves at catcher and hitting the hell out of the ball, he not only was a luxury, but a complete rarity of a ballplayer. Something you very rarely see, and it's why he got paid some handsomely. I am a big Realmuto fan, he is a very good player, but he does play catcher. They get dinged up and they don't start every game. JT has averaged 121 games behind the plate over the last 3 seasons. That means for 40 games, or 1/4 of the season you are starting your backup at Catcher. Not to mention, how many catchers stay productive after the age of 30? I don't have stats in front of me, but ones that stay productive are in the minority. I would love to JT on this team, but the cost to acquire him in a trade will always far outweigh his value to the team as he is a luxury.....unless he is the missing piece. If this team was 10 games up in the division and the catcher was far and away the biggest weak link on the team, I could probably rationalize trading for him, but at a price of Lewis/Romero......I just couldn't do it. You can win without a stud catcher.
  13. After the 3 run HR in the 1st Lynn proceeded to pitch: 4.1 IP, 2H, 5K, 3BB, HBP, 1 ER It's not lights out by any means, but I think righting the ship after what happened was a great way to put it personally.
  14. That swing by Grossman should be shown to anyone who has trouble going the other way. Text book on how to hit thru that giant hole. Edit: I forgot I am 20 mins behind
  15. Ah thanks, I must have missed that.
  16. Didn't Lamarre have to go back to AAA for a couple days?
  17. Sweet, Max is in the lineup. B Dozier 2B J Mauer 1B M Sano 3B E Rosario LF L Morrison DH E Escobar SS M Kepler CF R Grossman RF J Castro C
  18. I always liked Vargas's potential, but for $6.5M to get a guy who is proven, is more versatile and only 3 years older? Seems like a no brainer of an upgrade.
  19. In the next 4 years Greinke is making: Age 34: $34M Age 35: $34.5M Age 36: $35M Age 37: $35M 144/6 for Darvish only comes out to $24M a season and would take him through age 36 just for reference
  20. I'd rather take Darvish and keep the prospects and not to mention Greinke is already 34.
  21. Plus the deal is only for $4.5M. If Rodney ends up getting the $6, he hit incentives, which means he was probably at least semi-valuable this year.
