  1. He has 1 start since coming up from AAA after his DL stint and last night wasn't stellar, but like CDog said a lot of things didn't go his way. I also thought his pitches were being quite squeezed and he was obviously getting somewhat frustrated. If he can anyway grab his last year's form and be that 4.50 ERA starting pitcher I think it would suffice. Next year is the last year on his deal where he will make $5.5M and at this point are there any better options?
  2. The problem with trading Span is he has a very team friendly contract for the next 2 years and IMO Revere is not a Major League CF. He just doesn't have the arm, hell he barely has the arm to play RF. Yes he has speed and plays good defense and as of late he has been hitting the ball well, but I really don't think he he's a replacement for Span in CF or in the leadoff spot. Revere also does not take walks, like Span does, who boasts a career .360+ OBP. The only way Span should be traded is if he can bring back a good SP prospect or a young one we can put into the rotation now and I really don't know if that's out there right now.
  3. Capps has been overly solid this season actually. An ERA below 3, a WHIP below 1.00 and after a slow start he has been very good. Have you looked around the league and seen how many teams have switched closers and have had bullpen trouble this season? At 4.5M, he isn't a steal, but for a team looking for a solid arm he is a candidate. Now, I don't think they could snag a Top 100 spect ala Ramos for him, but I think he would bring back a return worthy of dealing of him.
  4. I actually think people are reading into this way too much. 13 pitchers were and are not needed on the roster, that leaves a bench of 2 with a backup C. A bench of Butera, Mastroianni and Carroll doesn't leave many options.
  5. Ideally the only way the Twins part with Willingham is if someone is willing to overpay at this point. The guy is a historically fast starter, he is 33 years old, he plays a below average defense at a corner OF position and he has 2.5 years left on his contract. As good as his numbers have been thus far, no team is going to give up a over the top prospect package for him.
  6. If you are looking for one of the most pessimistic views and a downright ripping of the organization go ahead and read it. It's not worth your time.
  7. I wouldn't say "giving up." Gray is a 30 year old MR on a league min contract who is sporting an ERA of 4.15, a WHIP of almost 1.40 and walking 4+ batters per 9. He is a serviceable but very replaceable arm at this point. It's the same reason Marquis was cut, yes chances are he isn't that bad of a pitcher and would have turned it around, while on the other hand this is obviously a lost season and what good is having a 35+ year old in the rotation when you can get similar/slightly less performance out of a younger option in AAA?
