    I mean if you want to pick on Buck that's about the only thing you should avoid. That was a helleva 10 pitch walk he coaxed that produced a run. One of the better plate appearances of the season.

    It's his first day up and they are facing a lefty. Can almost guarantee he will pinch hit for Taylor, Castro or Farmer later in this game.

    Because he wants to play? Because he sees his role being taken. It's so easy for us from the sidelines to just toss guys on the IL. A young competitive player downplaying an injury to stay in the lineup....... not the first nor last time you will hear of it.

    The problem is we don't see what goes on behind the scenes. If he trainers tell Byron his legs aren't there to play the OF but can still hit, who are you blaming? If Buck is killing the ball in practice and in the cages and the staff and manager feels he is an asset to the team... then what? It's really easy for fans to say, "Psssh 0-4!! He's a POS, put him on the IL! He can't play OF, then he can't hit!" You really think that Rocco knows he's injured and struggling, but keeps him batting third and risking his job because of Buxton's pay escalators?

    What's he clueless for? Taking him out? Leaving him in this long? Blaming the manager is often just avoiding blaming the player.

    Then let's not try and pretend that Steer was the long lost solution at 3rd base like your last post insisted on then. Hindsight is definitely 20/20, but I think anyone who would assume Steer's bat would be better than he was in AAA St. Paul as a 24 year old and nearly matched what he put up in High A/AA would be quite the reach. Plus.....Jose Miranda had crushed AAA in 2021/2022 and shown enough in 2022 that he looked like a viable starter going into the season. It's easy to say that Mahle was never going to be a difference maker now that we have seen him miss the last year and a half. Last year's team was very flawed, and I still stand by that that Mahle was brought in mostly for 2023 than he was 2022 as the rotation was looking like a question mark this year but still should have been a shot in the arm for the cluster that was 2022's rotation. CES is another discussion, though he is still going to a 1B/DH. Also BTW, Jose Miranda put up a slash line of .343/.397/.563 as a 23 year old in AAA. CES is putting .321/.392/.620 as a 23 year old. CES is showing more power as evident in the slugging, but things happen. Today's offensive difference maker for years to come can quickly become a 25 year old in a bad sophomore slump. Hindsight is so much 20/20.

    I still don't think the decision to trade for Mahle was short sighted at all. It was multiple years of control for 2 prospects who were essentially blocked. Can we quit pretending like Steer would be an obvious long term replacement at 3B? It took the Reds 30 games to figure that out, he is going to be a 1B/DH with possible seeing time at a corner OF position.

    Gray has shown to be the ultimate competitor. He has spoken out on more than one occasion over multiple seasons about being taken out of games too early. If anyone really thinks anyone with that mental attitude is going to walk away after what's his arguable best year and leave between $40-70M on the table is off their rocker.

    😂😂 that's the fun in the draft! Then 60% of the first round will fail and pick #21 will be the best player in the draft and everyone in hindsight will go nuts that we didn't take him.
