  1. I'd argue the other way around and say Baez's best days are behind him.
  2. 8 pitch inning for Bailey, gotta like that.
  3. McCutchen has been the primary DH in Pittsburgh, only playing 7 games in the OF. Gallo has logged 200 innings at 1B and 210 in the OF. Gallo having experience at 1B with Kiriloff being a huge question mark this offseason had to come into play. I just don't see how you can directly compare the signings. Brandon Drury proving that his breakout year at age 29 wasn't a fluke. Having a very solid year for the Angels. He would have been a nice addition.
  4. Meh..... you aren't going to beat a subpar every time out. Olson looks like he could be a solid major leaguer. Very tough all around day for Mr. Julien.
  5. Which is still kinda crazy. Joe threw 9 innings and Maeda only 5. Run difference was 6 to 4.
  6. I stand by my opinion that Kep starting in RF was a fine play.
  7. I get that, but he is on the roster. There are seemingly threads that pop every single day that are anti-Kepler, obviously as you know, is been discussed to the point of beating a dead horse. I'd rather have Waller up as well, but he's not. As for today's game, IMO starting Kep in RF is a fine play.
  8. It would be really nice to give Kenta a cushion and let him pitch with the lead. Another hot start would be huge.
  9. They are going to play the better glove in RF with no real RH OF bat to start. It also means AK is more than likely going to see a ,more favorable matchup for himself later in the game. Kep has also reached in 5 of his last 9 appearances. AK is 1 for his last 15 and 4 for his last 28, it's not like he's been stinging the ball. I know I'm going against the "bash Kepler at all costs until he is off the team" but I'm fine with him in the lineup.
  10. When Gray is locked in he has the secondary pitches that Joe lacks. One of the major reasons Joe can get away with throwing that fastball nearly 60% of the time is his placement. Which isn't a knock on Gray because Ryan's fastball has one of the highest pitch values in the league. Sonny's problems arise when he doesn't have control on that slider, it forces him to throw more fastballs, which isn't nearly as effective as Ryan's and he doesn't have the control Ryan has....which is how he runs up those high pitch counts early so often. They are both very effective pitchers in their own way, and I do think Ryan is more apt to "blow ups" but when he on...damn he's fun to watch work.
  11. Adding a guy who could possibly be a left handed option out of the pen is worth it. There's really zero risk and zero reason to dislike the signing.
  12. It would have been a very difficult catch and that right field line in Fenway Park is probably one, if not the most ridiculous places in baseball. An inch right and it's a home run, 3 inches right and it's foul. That play in particular doesn't bother me much.
  13. With Gray a pending FA and from what I have read pretty much has his decision made on hitting FA, that sandwich pick along with him for the rest of the season is probably more value than you could get for him in a trade. Teams are going to know it's strictly a rental. I can't imagine the Twins trading a top of the rotation piece with a division title within reach either....not do I blame them.
  14. The RH bats were Farmer and Solano who don;t generally play in the OF either.
  15. He better get the next two outs very quickly if we want to see that. Highly doubt they let him go much beyond 100 pitches.
  16. 70 pitches thru 6 innings. Could we possibly see 8 to 8+? innings from Joe today?
  17. Were the bats just waiting until summer actually got here to get going?
  18. First player ever in the statcast era with two 460+ home runs in the same game. Now that's wild.
  19. I honestly think that when Ryan is on, he has the pinpoint control that Gray just doesn't possess. Which isn't a negative to Gray, but Ryan is becoming a damn good pitcher.
  20. Which is wild. You just don't see many balls go to the part of the ballpark that 2nd one went.
