  1. So nice to see the vets starting to heat up. Maeda and Kepler showing why you don't DFA veterans in April-May, much to the dislike of many posters around here. Kep has to be one of the best hitters in baseball the last two weeks. I love the passion Kenta shows out of the mound too. Buck looks like he is seeing the ball so much better. He looked absolutely lost at the plate for a while... so nice to see him back.
  2. Glad I didn't look it up then :D. Man does time fly, it seemed like it was yesterday that the 20 year old got the surprise call up to the bigs.
  3. Polanco is too good of a player IMO to give away. Unless you for sure know his legs are done, then sure, but I don't think I would be ready to make that assumption yet. I would almost bank on the Twins picking up his option, he's not even 30 yet. Besides, Julien has looked like a butcher out there in the field anyways. I love the kid's bat, but cringe with the idea of him out there everyday at 2B.
  4. Damn that's a big blow. Here's hoping Miranda can take advantage of the opportunity.
  5. Unless the Twins really fall flat in July, I am not selling much but looking at possibly adding a RH bat and another relief option, preferably players who have at least another year left on their current deals,
  6. Cano: 40.1 IP, 1.12 ERA, 2.05 FIP, 8.3 K/9, 6.17 K/BB, 3.1 WPA Bautista: 38.2 IP, 1.16 ERA, 1.60 FIP, 18.4 K/9, 4.65 K/BB, 2.0 WPA Jansen: 28.2 IP, 3.45 ERA, 3.01 FIP, 11.0 K/9, 2.92 K/BB, -0.3 WPA Clase: 39.2 IP, 3.40 ERA, 2.63 FIP, 8.2 K/9, 3.27 K/BB, -0.9 WPA Duran: 32.2 IP. 1.93 ERA, 3.41 FIP. 11.8 K/9, 2.87 K/BB, 1.4 WPA
  7. Twins just won a series with the Orioles who have a better record than the Dodgers.....
  8. Hopefully Joe can get off to a better start than in the ATL game. He didn't locate many pitches well, which was the exact opposite than he did in his previous start with the CGSO. Hopefully being back at home he can turn it back around.
  9. Wacha had a nice bounce back season last year and is having a good first half, but Lopez is a better pitcher and is 5 years younger. Trading for Lopez was not looking just at a 1 year return.
  10. The term and position of "closer" is outdated. Duran is the Twins best relief arm and it's not even debatable. Him being called upon to get the bats out in the lineup in late game situations SHOULD be his go to. What's the advantage of using him in "exclusively in save situations?" You should want your best arm facing the top and heart of the opponents order, that's who your biggest threat is, especially late in games. Letting a "closer" just pitch the ninth of a game to close a game is underutilizing your best arm. Saves are a sexy statistic, but not a practical one.
  11. There's about 6 topics that discuss just Buxton in the 1st two pages of threads alone. We don't need another. I'm locking this one. If you want to complain about Byron use one of the many out there already.
  12. I would hope not. He's a professional.
  13. Duran getting snubbed is ********
  14. It should be both. 1 run is obviously not going to cut it. But Duran was off. 1 good contact ball off of him. 2 walks, a bloop and a HBP is tough from your dominant closer
  15. Most likely right unless Caleb was healthy. Would have been an interesting decision. Both Adley and Santander hit better as lefties against RHP than the other way around.
  16. Team only struck out 6 times and 3 against Bautista in the 9th. A lot of soft contact today. Pop ups, lazy flies, etc. Leaving RISP in the 1st, 4th and 5th really set the tone.... and not for the positive.
  17. Agreed. It's probably Thielbar's job when healthy actually. I don't blame Rocco for being gunshy with Moran though.
  18. Tough position. If Duran is his good usual self we don't second guess. I'm wondering is Brock doesn't start that inning if he was healthy.
  19. Because Duran ran a 3-0 count to him. Get the favorable matchup rather than trying to come back from down 3-0. Duran's control was very off today.
  20. Miranda is in the lineup for Royce. That's a change.
  21. Compete Twins win. 6 post game comments. It's almost poetic that masses can only find things to talk about when the team loses. Buck, Correa, Kep and Gallo combined 7/14, 2 BB, 7 runs scored, 6 RBI. The team needs more games like this from their vets. Build off the positives from tonight boys.
  22. Maybe I should miss more games. Maybe the team meeting worked, the bats are alive!
