    He wouldn't play against RHP. That's what the glut of left handed hitting is for.

    Twins are 2nd to last hitting vs left handed pitching in the majors. Hernandez's slash of .303/.323/.573 vs lefties would be a welcome addition. Good for an OPS of .896.

    Career year with less than ideal peripherals. They sold at exactly the right time. Tampa absolutely needed a starter as well.

    When you gave better options, yes I suppose that makes him a platoon player at the moment. He can still get an AB or two against the bullpen.

    I’m not saying growth can’t occur, but when you have better options on the roster, it just makes sense, especially with his defense. Arraez’s .435 BABIP against lefties this year probably isn’t sustainable when his career % is .317. Arraez is also a very different hitter than Julien is.

    With Jorge on the roster he isn’t going to start against lefties and probably shouldn’t. He has always struggled against lefties and his defense is still an adventure in the field. Being “young” really has nothing to do with it. If you didn’t hit lefties during your minor league career, he probably won’t start magically doing it in the pros.

    Twins were in position to win with their best player on the mound. He just got beat. That should be no indication to tip any scale to sell.

    It's July and not even the trade deadline yet. There is 35% of the season left. Really no reason to be overly dramatic. A sweep would be great, but by no means it is the season on the line.

    Floro has been across the board a better pitcher than Lopez this year. The Twins essentially gave up Lopez's last year of ARB on a swap with Florio who is a pending FA. 30 year old for a 32 year old. Lopez: 5.09 ERA/5.94 FIP/2.8 BB/9 6.9 K/9 .265 BABIP Floro: 4.54 ERA/2.78 FIP/2.5 BB/9 9.3 K/9 .397 BABIP Combined with the mental health issues he has had, I can't see how this as awful as most of the comments are making it out to be so far. This makes the trade last year seem worse, but that should have no bearing on this deal. Makes sense for the Marlins, they get back someone they can hope to "fix" for another season for a guy who wasn't going to be back next season.

    He has potential, but he needs to work on the "out" pitch. He gets ahead but guys seem to hang around.

    Gallo can play the field. When you can play above average corner OF, fill in at CF and play 1st base, it helps out. If Sano could play + defense in RF or LF he would still be in the league.

    It's still a damn tough position for Duran to be put in. It's more than likely at least 1 run scores and you still need someone to pitch the 9th. I'm more surprised he didn't come out to pitch the 9th in the tie ball game instead of Ortega. Hindsight is 20/20. Twins were hitless for 5 straight innings at that point.

    If the Twins put up 3 runs and he "wins" 2 ER thru 6 innings shouldn't be chastised. If the boys scored 5 in the 1st line last night are we taking about Sonny's "winless streak?" Ryan went 6 last night, gave up 4 ER and got the win. Lopez and Ryan on average get a whole 1-1.5 outs more than Sonny.

    First time actually watching Kirby pitch besides the AS game. He's got great stuff.

    Fair. I wasn't including Otani because he's not a realistic option for 90% of teams. But good call on the other 3.
