Most likely right unless Caleb was healthy. Would have been an interesting decision. Both Adley and Santander hit better as lefties against RHP than the other way around.

Team only struck out 6 times and 3 against Bautista in the 9th. A lot of soft contact today. Pop ups, lazy flies, etc. Leaving RISP in the 1st, 4th and 5th really set the tone.... and not for the positive.

Agreed. It's probably Thielbar's job when healthy actually. I don't blame Rocco for being gunshy with Moran though.

Tough position. If Duran is his good usual self we don't second guess. I'm wondering is Brock doesn't start that inning if he was healthy.

Compete Twins win. 6 post game comments. It's almost poetic that masses can only find things to talk about when the team loses. Buck, Correa, Kep and Gallo combined 7/14, 2 BB, 7 runs scored, 6 RBI. The team needs more games like this from their vets. Build off the positives from tonight boys.

Colome was taken out of the closer role before April ended and given to Rogers/Robles. He was a part in 4 losses in that time period though, but less than a month isn't THAT slow, especially coming off the 2020 season he had. The only reason he got it back because Rogers got injured in July and never returned.

Gray already gave up the go ahead HR to Ozuna anyways. The play on Harris should have been made by AK or Gray and they should have been out of the inning. Not to mention that Acuna is the front runner for MVP, it's not like some slouch took Pagan deep. Sometimes you just get beat by great players. The Twins got beat by Strider and Acuna. Sometimes it's okay to not throw blame around and admit you got beat by great guys. 🤷♂️

Max Kepler isn't good at anything anymore
SwainZag replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
If the Twins training staff don't think that Byron can play in the field, why do we need to direct any hate? Max is getting heat because Wallner is playing well in AAA and deserves the ABs. Buck is fresh off a new contract, he isn't going anywhere. Continuing to hate on Buck not paying the field is pointless if the staff has determined he can't. -
IMO there's no way Lewis or Lee are going anywhere. I know Goldy is the reigning MVP, but he's soon to be 36 and outside of 2019 it's the lowest it's been in over a decade. That being said.... I'm not sure who the Twins would offer. If the Cards move him, the deadline would probably be when his value is at its highest.

Royce Lewis Excelling as Rare Young 5-Tool Player
SwainZag replied to Cody Schoenmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm willing to bet that Royce doesn't see AAA unless he is rehabbing an injury. He's here to stay.- 23 replies

McCutchen has been the primary DH in Pittsburgh, only playing 7 games in the OF. Gallo has logged 200 innings at 1B and 210 in the OF. Gallo having experience at 1B with Kiriloff being a huge question mark this offseason had to come into play. I just don't see how you can directly compare the signings. Brandon Drury proving that his breakout year at age 29 wasn't a fluke. Having a very solid year for the Angels. He would have been a nice addition.

Meh..... you aren't going to beat a subpar every time out. Olson looks like he could be a solid major leaguer. Very tough all around day for Mr. Julien.

Which is still kinda crazy. Joe threw 9 innings and Maeda only 5. Run difference was 6 to 4.

Max Kepler isn't good at anything anymore
SwainZag replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
It would have been a very difficult catch and that right field line in Fenway Park is probably one, if not the most ridiculous places in baseball. An inch right and it's a home run, 3 inches right and it's foul. That play in particular doesn't bother me much. -
Joey Votto making his season debut for the Reds tonight. With him back at first base, Spencer Steer will make his 4th appearance this season in LF. Outside of the 24 innings he has played there this season, he had exactly one game in the OF in his minor league career. Curious to see how this works out.

If Buck is ready to come off the IL, what else do you do? Your only real other options are cutting someone.

Twins 7, Brewers 5: A Twins Win to Remember!
SwainZag replied to Steven Trefz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm not sure anyone here understands how good Devin Williams has been. Before today he had allowed 1 run this season. A solo HR by Thairo Estrada in a 5 run game in early May. Other than that, the guy had been virtually unhittable. 8 hits in 21.2 innings. 1 ER, 1 HR, 30 K's and an ERA of 0.42. Literally in almost every sense of the word, the best reliever in the game. Tonight.... the Twins went 3/3, 3 hits, 1 BB, 2 HR and 0 K's. 2023 signature moment? I sure hope so.- 51 replies

Are we really going to call Moncada, Anderson and Binentendi front line talent? Moncada is 28, and yes he has been injured quite frequently, but in this last 2 seasons in 576 PA he has a line of: 15 HR, 64 RBI to go along with a triple slash line of .217/.275/.358. Good for an OPS+ of 77. For those curious, Mr. Kepler, who is only 2 years older, has 603 PA in the same time period with 16 HR, 61 RBI to go along with a triple slash line of .217/.304/.355 for an OPS+ of 88. Benintendi has been all but average with zero power and in line to make $17 per year for the next 4 years. Larnach has a better OPS+ than he does. Tim Anderson is 30 and his bat has declined now for the 3rd year in a row. His power he once did have seems to be gone, with his slugging down to .311 this year. Robert, Vaughn and Jimenez are nice players but even with the Twins stars struggling in the early months, they have still scored more runs than the White Sox have in less games. I would say pretty confidently that Correa, Buxton, Polanco, Lewis and Kiriloff make up a better foundation than the Sox have.

Who’s Coming for the Twins in the Central?

I would rather make the playoffs and have a shot at winning than not make it. Winning the division gets you in the tournament. -
Lessons Learned From the 2022 Trade Deadline
SwainZag replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
When healthy Polanco is one of the better hitting 2nd baseman in baseball. He's also only 29 this year. Jorge had a giant year in 2021 and was injury plagued most of 2022...and not to mention he is under team control thru 2025. I think the unwillingness to give up on that player is pretty damn warranted. Yes, Jorge hasn't been spectacular to start this season, but that is generally a player you build around. Spencer Steer is not a 2nd baseman. He is destined to be a 1B/DH. It didn't take Cincy very long to learn that he wasn't an adequate 3rd baseman. If he was supplanting anyone on the roster, it would Kiriloff....and I don't think many would be a fan of that.- 52 replies
