    Did the 7th inning really cost them? Or did scoring 1 run cost them?

    A win is a win. Twins win a 7-6 game and more than half the posters want to talk about how Buck and Correa going out with injuries helped the lineup. 1-0 win and there's no talk about how maybe they needed some more bats to get some more runs across. It's a long ass season. I know 7 and 10 game streaks are great to rave about. May 16th, Castro was hitting .190 and was the number one DFA candidate. Fast forward, now he's the MVP. 1 comment out of 20 even mentioned Jorge. He had a pretty damn large game winning hi...with 2 outs BTW. I know Polanco isn't a sexy name like Kiriloff, Lewis or Wallner.....but a "grizzled" 29 year old vet can get it done sometimes too. That's 3 in a row. That's 4 out of 5. That's a lead of 5.5 over Cleveland....(who IMO is miles better than Detroit). Tomorrow is Gray day!

    Does it matter? The bullpen was lights out, the Twins eventually scored and they won the game.

    This feels like what a Cleveland did to the Twins over and over again last year. Did Pagan exorcize some demons tonight? Got out of a huge inherited jam and looked in control, great to see. It's disheartening to see the stars struggle, but AK and Royce showing us glimpses of a bright future.

    I think you are probably pretty spot on. If he comes back and struggles, THEN I can see him moving to the pen. I don't think giving any one of our starters an extra day rest at this point in the season is a bad idea either.

    Wallner has an absolute cannon, good lord. Live seeing the bats get going. Toronto made things interesting, but they have a stacked lineup, despite the results so far.

    Not to nitpick, he's having a big day, but he didn't homer. 3 for 6, HR short of the cycle, 6 total bases. His bat would def be a welcome addition to the lineup, but he is looking like a guy without a position, why he was expendable to begin with. Huntre Greene tossed a gem as well.

    Respectfully disagree. If the Twins were in a different division, they could possibly be sellers, but with being in the Central, there's little chance they would sell with the division in reach. We have known since the schedule came out that the 1st half....especially Mid-May until the end of June would be the hardest part of the schedule. The 2nd half is considerably easier. The only way I see the Twins "selling" is if they go into absolute free fall mode, or if they suffer some major long term injuries.

    Kepler's OPS of .847 since April 18th is why Rocco puts him in the lineup. His OPS since then is only behind Buxton on the team. When healthy he deserves and needs to be in the lineup, especially against RHP.

    If Jax doesn't get hosed on the missed call to Otani, the game goes to the 8th tied. I might be biased but calls going against the Twins seem to be happening too often lately.

    Pretty much between 10th and 12th in major relief pitching category. It could be better, but it could surely be worse.

    Meh. Pagan has given up more than 1 run in 2 of his 16 outings and last night was the first long ball he has allowed this year. Yes, both of those innings were blow ups, but overall he has been pretty effective this season. Yes, both outings were major blow ups, but a much bigger elephant in the room to me is the lack of hitting with the bases loaded. I am not saying I trust the guy in tight situations, but the team has bigger problems at the moment.

    Does it matter though? If the FO can acquire a guy like...Ryan, who has no ML experience and turn him into a front line pitcher, isn't it finding value? Does it matter how they acquired them? How many teams out there has a stable of starting pitchers they drafted and developed? Atlanta and Tampa have done very well in that regard, but it's not really the norm. I do think there was a big gap in developing starting pitching from this franchise, but if for whatever reason your franchise is just lackluster in developing draft picks into ML starting pitching....what's the downside if they can develop bats or can trade young assets to acquire it? The Twins are Top 5 in every major pitching category this season and they only have 4 pitchers over the age of 31. 2/3 of all the pitchers they have used this year are 28 or younger. If you don't want to celebrate the way they develop pitchers that's fine, but so far they have put together a very fine pitching staff, and not 1 person signed via big money free agent splash. In the long run it's probably not sustainable, but it's really hard to argue with current results.

    I wasn't calling you specifically on the whining, but the notion the Twins have a slew of "#3 starters" has been a talking point for awhile now. While you have a very valid point that it is early, Gray has pitched like an ace on a first place team. When he's healthy Sonny Gray is a damn good pitcher. That being said, I am a huge fan of Petty's potential. On the other hand, how many starting pitching prospects have the Twins had in the last two decades who were highly touted and never accumulated as much WAR in their career as Gray has in the first 6 weeks of the season? The list spans more than a handful.

    Sonny Gray is in the discussion to be the best pitcher in baseball this year, if that doesn't count as "value" I don't know what does. For all the whining about the Twins not having ace pitching, Ryan and Gray are in the Top 10 in the MLB in pitching in basically every major category.

    The fact that they pretty much turned JA Happ into Michael A. Taylor is pretty cool.

    Not sure what the corresponding move is, but apparently Derek Rodriguez is on his way to the big club. He's not on the 40 man, so there should be a couple moves today.

    All I have to say is having too much depth is a good problem to have. There are a lot of ways the FO might go with this, it will be interesting too see what happens.

    8 2/3 innings so far, he hasn't allowed a hit OR walk yet, while striking out 10. Damn impressive.
