  1. I would guess that all through the Cubs organization they are feeling pretty optimistic about breaking the curse. They are all going to want to be there for that. But hey, that's the first real name I've heard that might really be a good choice.
  2. Ah yes, crabby Patrick... In comparing the 1981 team to the 2016 team he says (usually) that he would prefer the 1981 player. That included Glenn Adams as DH over Park. In 1981 Glenn Adams had an OPS+ of 57. 57! Park's OPS+ currently sits at 116. That one choice shows how very little he knows or understands baseball.
  3. I like most of this except for Santana, and his .279 OBP (.254 in May), leading off. I'd try Polanco there. Dozier isn't doing anything for us at this point.
  4. Something about the development culture is failing. Damned if I know where it is, but aren't there some people out there that can figure it out? Seem when you have a roughly $100 million payroll plus several minor league teams that person might be worth finding and paying well.
  5. I had turned to my friend while watching the game and said the same thing. Seriously though: No one is expecting an All-Star year from this guy, but ,hey... I hope Robbie has a career year! So far (in both games) it's been nice to have him.
  6. So we are in second place, only 2 games back. Go Twins!
  7. Is there a mad rush at the ticket booths now? I never saw Grossman when he was playing for Houston. Or maybe I just don't remember. Good luck to him just the same.
  8. Thank you Sarah. It takes a great many people to make a MLB game work. Fun to hear a little about one of the most important (and least paid, if not least celebrated) positions in a game.
  9. Sadly, I agree. As for the article, I certainly hope you are right. When the bats finally come around it would be nice to have some solid pitching to give us a chance with just 3 or 4 runs sometimes. As for the bullpen, we need the youngsters (Shaggy, et al)to begin stepping up soon. Like, real soon.
  10. Even if you insist on continuing to play Dozier every day why can't you move him and his .222/.305/.376 (.681) line down the order?
  11. Well thank God for that!
  12. Bryce seems to be catching on to this game.
  13. And on another note..... Berrios pitched last Monday. Saturday would be his day to start if he was on a regular schedule. Instead Santana is pitching today (Saturday) with Duffey scheduled tomorrow. Are we throwing the pitching patterns off for Berrios because it worked so well for Meyer?
  14. No offense, but I kinda hate that you put "Carlos Gomez" and David ortiz" in the same sentence.
  15. How many MLB managers have the guy with the highest OPS on the team batting 6th?
  16. He actually has an ERA of 1.04 in AAA this year so far, along with a 0.865 WHIP and only 2.1 BB/9. He didn't have a good outing, but really puzzling how he gets pulled when he got pulled, considering the way things were unfolding.
  17. The money minor league players are paid is an embarrassment to baseball. This is surely where a well placed 'bet' could see a huge return. If this happens, some day someone is going to be giving up many millions for the 1 or 2 million when they were in the minors.
  18. Hey! Be nice. And as for Nolacso, we were never going to get enough value for him in a trade to offset what he might provide, namely, what we've gotten from so far this year. And come on, most people here wanted Arcia to get another shot. Great to see what he's done with it so far!
  19. Not to dismiss your argument out-of-hand, but Johan Santana was 22 years old. Meyer is 26. I think that's relevant.
  20. I do not believe there is any guarentee that Meyer would have a shutdown, awesome performance if he were allowed to start a game. But why isn't anyone in the FO interested in finding out?
  21. I still have high hopes for Buxton, but if he was on fire we should look for the arsonist.
  22. This explains so much!
  23. Not to pick nits, but Baseball-Reference finds Sano with a .385 OBP. Still excellent. Just sayin'. And I agree with Pardon My Dinger. What happens when he gets hot?
  24. Welcome and thanks for the post. We seldom hear about how players get along. If we do, it is usually after a player leaves the team. I'd like to know more, but if I ran the Twins (or any other baseball team) I would want those types of issues kept out of the papers (and blogs). So, basically, I got nothin'.
