  1. Thanks, Seth. Always good to see Lewis with a nice game. If he still isn’t playing nine, don’t see him activated next week. Crossing my fingers that Enlow is back.
  2. Interesting report, Jeremy, thanks. Did a double take when I saw that both Ft. Myers and the Kernels were 22-17, yet the Mighty Mussels were 7 games out of first. The best news this week is seeing Royce Lewis playing and playing very well, both at the plate and in the field. Also great seeing Enlow working back to the player we thought he would be. Was wondering who Jose Rodriguez is. You show him as an outfielder in EST. Yet, when you click on his name you get a 27 year old pitcher with Seattle. Is he one of the young guys signed out of the D.R. last year or the year before?
  3. Put me in the camp that wants him up here as soon as he is comfortable and ready. Could that be June 1, maybe. Also could be a week or more later. Looking at how many of you are saying play him in the outfield. You didn't read the comments his agent made two weeks ago when he began his rehab. He said Royce should be limited to short and third, then went on to give several wise reasons why playing him in the outfield would be a mistake and could lead to another injury. Read it in the Strib and don't remember the specifics. But recall thinking that he made a ton of sense when I read it. So I will be shocked if we see him anywhere other than short or third.
  4. I see Fajardo was a minor league Rule 5 pickup. Interesting! Another great night at the plate for Cossetti. Also saw he had two errors. Is his D that bad? Or was it just one of those nights for two throws?
  5. I think Julien being pulled early in the game tells us he is on a late flight to L.A.
  6. When I checked the box score of the Saints game last night, I was just shaking my head. Is it possible that Royce Lewis is that generational talent? Is it possible that he is the best player in baseball that because of injuries we haven't seen? I am awed when I watch the few at bats AK has taken in the week or so he has been back. Great swing with an Arraez like knowledge of the strike zone. Seems his biggest problem has been not swinging at pitches 3-4" out of the strike zone that are called strikes, putting him in the hole. How long have we talked about getting this duo up with the big club so we could see how good they really are. I am almost afraid to hope/think that day is almost here.
  7. What a great night for Enlow, and the Twins. With 10 K's, looks like this young man may be close to being all the way back from his injuries. Also, have been waiting for a night from ERod like last night. Could this be the start of his getting back on track? Only question I have from last night is why Lewis was removed after 3 AB? Was it just part of his schedule coming back? Or was it something to be concerned about? If Polo goes on the IL today, does Julien get the call?
  8. Have often debated with myself, Seth, which is better in the minors. Is the best system one with three or four teams having nice winning records every year with lots of playoff appearances and a championship every year or two? Or is it one with teams barely playing .500, then getting worse the second half when their two stars move up? Which organization is better, the one that develops players who know how to win and excitement for the fans, or one that develops a couple studs that will star for the parent club?
  9. No, but recall reading it. Most likely the Strib. Probably late last week or the weekend. Think it was shortly after he began his rehab.
  10. When Lewis finishes his 20 day rehab he is going to be activated and will play. Kid is special, he won’t be sitting on the bench. For those of you who missed it, his agent made an interesting comment last week. He said he hoped the Twins would limit his play to short and third. He went on to list several reasons it would be risky to play him in the outfield. I don’t remember them, but they made a ton of sense. You can bet the Twins have been made aware of this and he won’t be playing other positions. At least this year.
  11. Great read, Seth. Thanks. Thinking back to those lunches at Jensen's, you have been doing this a long time my friend. The most interesting thought to me while reading this is seeing Bryan Acuna at #25. Could he be anything close to his brother? We can only dream, can't we? Thanks again, Seth.
  12. Didn't see the game, but always disappointing when the umpires get involved in the outcome of the game. I will never understand why some plays ARE NOT reviewable. Why isn't a foul ball reviewable in some situations? Makes absolutely no sense. I also hope that the ABS challenge system isn't the one brought forward, although I expect that is what will happen. Why should there be a limit on correcting ball and strike calls by the umpire? In some games there are so many bad calls that are wrong. Is a wrong ball/strike call early in the game that a player doesn't challenge any less important? Not to my eyes. If the technology is there, use it and get all calls right.
  13. Out of those 35 guys, it would really be fantastic if 4 or 5 ended up being that big time stud great teams need. Seems like three are on the verge, Ryan, AK and Duran. Will there be at least two more?
  14. Thanks for the report, Seth, they are appreciated. Best news of the day has to be Lewis on the field, getting two hits including a hard hit double, and stealing a base. Really hope this kid is back with the Twins in 17 days, playing third base for the next decade. After an ugly start, fantastic seeing Cedar Rapids over .500. Question about Severino. Is he a bit like Julian, great bat with lots of questions about whether he can play on the field?
  15. I too noticed that it probably hit the ground. There could be another explanation. Did he have control and hold it long enough before the ground knocking it out of his glove? If so, the result would have been the same, out on the catch and with the runner not returning to first a double play. Don't know if the umps and Manager's had any discussion of their ruling.
  16. I know nothing about the hitting coach and whether he should stay or go. I can’t believe that Rocco wasn’t involved in hiring him. He and all coaches are led by and answer to Rocco. If he isn’t getting the job done it is Rocco’s responsibility to get him to improve or cut bait. There are a lot more problems with this team than hitting, although it is bad. Expect the answer is to make a change at the top, but that won’t change until the off season.
  17. Thanks for the report, Steve. Another clean inning from Reggie Grace. One earned run in 10 games is a heck of a start for this young man. I see he was a 2018 draft pick. That mean's he was Rule 5 eligible last fall. If he keeps pitching like this, will he be added this November? Won't he have to get higher than Hi-A to be added? Your thoughts? Another name I wasn't all that familiar with is Jorel Ortega. See he is another Tennessee player to find his way to the Twins. Long road ahead, but sure is whacking the ball the first month of the season.
  18. May not be a lot of playoff baseball from the organization this year. Maybe the Saints. So I guess we have to shift our focus. Instead of watching team success, we need to focus on individual development. Follow guys like Enlow who are resurrecting their careers. Young men like ERod or Prielipp, when he returns. Have forgotten, anyone know if Canterino will be back at some point this year?
  19. Love this discussion. Add me to the list of those who aren't certain Gray will be gone next year. Yes, we would have Lopez, Ryan, Paddack, Ober and Varland. But there isn't a lot of depth following those five. SWR, yes. but then who? I will be surprised if the Twins don't at a minimum do a QO with Gray. Will he take it? Don't know, but would love to see the Twins try to keep him with either the QO or signing an extension at or before year end.
  20. Thanks, chpettit19. Also saw that in this morning's Strib. Turns out May 31 is also tied to when he can come off the 60-day IL. Seemed to indicate he would be in Wichita for part of the rehab, then move up to the Saints. I really expect Lewis to play like last year, which means he will be deserving of a starting spot. God knows the Twins need somebody, anybody to start hitting the ball. Biggest question, if Lewis' natural position with Correa at short is third, what does the future hold for Miranda?
  21. After being out the first month of the season, great seeing ERod back on the field. Didn't get a hit yesterday, but two walks, two runs and a stolen base saw him getting back into the game. Speaking of guys who are out, any word at all on Prielipp?
  22. Will not disagree with any of the above comments. But the umpire behind the plate was also having a terrible game. Forget the inning, but it was late. I believe Keps was leading off. The first two pitches were at least 4” outside and the count was 0-2. How does any hitter come back from that. And other than the Lewis news there was one good thing happening in Cleveland. AK started his first game of the year, going 1-2 with 2 walks. Manybe he will make a difference.
  23. One win in four games, but it still was a beautiful day for baseball. First, looks like Farmer has his swing back and is ready to rejoin the Twins on Tuesday. Second, what a wonderful start from Enlow. Nine K's in six innings, wow! Agree with those above regarding his chances of being back on the 40-man should he continue pitching like this throughout the summer. And finally, welcome back ERod. Expect it will take a few games or a week to get back in the swing, but can't wait to see him hitting the ball by mid-month.
  24. Very interesting question. Truth is, however, that you may be talking about what will remain a question/concern also in the future. Where is Royce Lewis going to play come summer? Ain't gonna be shortstop, unless Correa is injured. Third is likely the next best option. With Miranda not likely to be a first baseman, his remaining role is DH. Does that make sense? Does anyone know where Lewis is playing now that he is playing with the EST group in Florida?
