  1. Heart? You would have to be very close to a player -team mate, bench staff, family, etc. to state a player has lost heart. Saying is so is irresponsible and harmful, even insulting. Kiriloff endured a series of injuries that derailed his career. How could any mere observer say he lost heart, implying he could have played? Unfair and harmful to make such speculation.
  2. I question the premise here. It is in the interest of all in the organization, present and future, that the best deals be made. Always.
  3. My guess is that the Front Office may resign to take a job somewhere else. Ultimately the ownership defines what is "success" to the FO. This year it was "win with less". I doubt that is a job description that Falvey wants to have. It was a HUGE blunder for the Twins ownership to say out loud "we are cutting payroll $30M". That had to be a morale killer for the team. It certainly was for the fans. I am kind of surprised how well the team played for 3/4 of the year.
  4. Julien has had only 600 ABs in under two seasons.. Sano had eight years, with lots of playing time. Julien has a significant upside, imo. Waaay too early to say he is at his ceiling.
  5. I am curious which "Lopez type SP" for Julien is an even up trade?
  6. I doubt the FO is feeling desperate. They just made a huge offer that was simply outbid. Los Gigantes signing Correa for $65M over everyone else's bid -- remember other teams, including the Yankees dropped out prior to the Twins -- and for 13 years! Look to the Tigers with Miguel Cabrera for what an aging star is like at the end of their contract. The FO will move on. The Twins were in first place last season until the team was decimated by injuries. Most of those players will be back. Rodón signing would be great if it can be done.
  7. Judge. Ohtani is the "best" player in MLB, imo, but not the Most Valuable Player
  8. Hey, the season is not over. Why do a premature analysis? Seems like a stretch here and done to simply provide "content".
  9. I am not making any point about whether he opts in or out of his contract. Simply that he is not performing to the expectations of his #2 contract in MLB (of position players). He has been good, very good, but not stellar. Disappointing, even. Imo, I doubt this season has done anything, so far and it's late, to enhance his bargaining position should he opt out. I agree that his decision "doesn't seem all that interesting".
  10. Correa is fourth highest paid player in MLB this year. Top two are pitchers, then, at #3 is Mike Trout. My point is simply that he is not performing at the elite level his salary demands. He isn't even tops on the team in any major offensive stat. He plays very good defense.
  11. The other "insurance" his current contract provides is against "substandard production". His year, offensively, has not been impressive. Certainly not at the elite level his salary would demand. Interesting to see how this plays out in the off season.
