  1. Twins starting staff has been very good lately. I feel that 5-4 is certainly doable. We could hope for more, but Twins are not a great road team.
  2. I have stated in another post, that if you trade Arcia, offseason is when it happens. Unless you can get a catcher rental for a very cheap price(AJ), I do not see moves being made. Same with extra bullpen help. I am sure the Twins will cycle through the AAA and AA bullpens and see if anyone there can help first unless a very good deal falls into there laps.
  3. Big problem is playing time. Do not have a feeling on this, but think that until one of Rosario, Hicks, or Buxton have to be sent back to AAA, he will not see time here. Tori Hunter is having a good year, so Arcia may see AAA until something changes or Sano needs some AAA time. If front office feels that they are OK with Kepler and Harrison coming, Arcia then become a trade chip that needs to be cashed before it totally loses value. This probably means this winter.
  4. Be interesting to see how the Royals bullpen fares in September with the number of innings their starters are pitching. Frasor would probably not help the Twins, so I am glad he will be traded elsewhere.
  5. Every team has to have a representative. The issue here was Yost took Holt(an all over the field utility player) from Boston. He is good, but not Dozier. Until the every team has a player is changed or rosters are expanded snubs will happen.
  6. Give this group some time. Hope Sano is able to produce at the DH. That would that out a major issue if the Twins are still in the race at the end of the month. Hunter may need to play less. but right now seem OK. Do not see Arcia as the long term solution in the outfield, but that depends on Hicks.
  7. Hope for a speedy recovery. At the current time he has little market value, with his contract he will make the club. Twins may have a list of starting pitcher candidates to choose from. This is getting better and better.
  8. I agree, he looks better. Does not mean he is going to make it, just means Twins need to give him an extended look. With Buxton's injury, it looks like he has most of this year to make his point.
  9. It has been quoted in mlbtraderumors that Tulo is not as explosive as he was after the hip surgery. Rockies would still want major package plus taking on his entire salary. Pass.
  10. Thompson should not have been left to face Cain in the 10th. That was the issue as I saw it, but when you have an 8 man bullpen and only 4 of them can be somewhat trusted in close situations we need to bring help now. Look at what Detroit did today, we should follow them.
  11. You can only use what you have. Twins bullpen is a mess and needs a makeover(quickly). Fien was somewhat unlucky, but he and Boyer are more 7th innings guys than 8th. That is not the manager's fault. Problem is now the problem is known and Twins will have to overpay for the needed help. Bargain Basement Bullpen is not doing the job this year.
  12. Looks about right, Walker is probably too far away to be included. Logjam needs to be worked out. This and starting pitching is a good problem to have. Expect it will be Rosario, Buxton, and Hicks/Hunter(?) with possibly Arcia. Looking forward to the rest of the year.
  13. Wait for them to pass waviers. Then look and see at their season. Gorzelanny could be an upgrade to Duensing, Feliz might recover and could be signed as a depth piece. Twins at this time need to look at all options.
  14. Hicks is slipping here into the 4th or 5th outfielder on a decent team. Good to Great Defense, little hit. Could see him traded or included in a package this offseason. Too bad.
  15. Trade Deadline without waivers is July 31. By that time Berrios will have at least 4 AAA starts. That should tell the story. Also will know where the Twins are at that time and we could be both buyers and sellers. Could see us selling some low end of the rotation starters(Pelfrey and Nolasco, possibly May) for upgrades elsewhere. Twins have there work cut out and many of these names will have to be gone to open spots this offseason. Interesting to see what happens.
  16. I expect he would move up shortly after the futures game. The rest is up to him. For once a good problem for the Twins to have.
  17. May has never been thru pressure before. It is hard, but send him down until something shakes out. Nolasco's injury came at a good time, since him spot in the ongoing rotation was not a sure thing. The bad part is that it will be hard to trade him this offseason, without giving him away.
  18. This could be bad, but would be the end of fan balloting(or very strict ballot limits, like 2). It would probably limit the Twins no matter what their record to one player(Probably Perkins). It would also affect all the other teams the same way as you are now talking 21 players for the other 13 teams. Tough
  19. Would also include Santana in the group of players to cash assets in on if the right deal comes along later this year.
  20. Too early to tell. Polanco has issues with arm strength. Bigger problem discussed above is Dozier, though I am of the group the feels he should be the one traded and bring a big return back after this year. Might approach and see if Dozier will sign a long term team friendly contract, if not and if the twins feel Polanco is an answer, may be time to cash assets.
  21. I feel Rosario should be given the chance to stick. Shaffer and Robinson are not long for here, so it is time to play the rookies this year and see who needs to be part of the future and which rookies will likely not be here in 2 years.
  22. 2 games seems to be a bit quick. I have no problem with parting with either of Stauffer or Duensing or both. Molitor does not seem to trust them, so why have 2 mops. Santana give another week or two. Thing can change and working with Bruno could be best.
  23. Best guess is the Twins put Nolasco on the DL or just send out Pressly for 10 days(he has been very good). Then Milone will be sent back down after Nolasco comes back. Maybe the Twins finally bite the bullet and DFA either Stauffer or Duensing. That would make a great number of posters very happy.
  24. If we are going down this route, I would rather get an ace pitcher. But would rather give the chance to bring up minor league players to see what they can do first. Twins are not in the place where one piece will put them over the top. Good thread though, many good ideas for targets.
  25. Twins are using the DH spot for players out of the lineout to rest their legs. Lots of club in the American league do this. Twins probably have only room for one of Vargas and Arcia for the next 3 to 4 years(when Mauer's contract expires. By then it may be Walker or another bopper looking for time. Vargas or Arcia are going to have to hit a lot to be in Minnesota.
