  1. I vote for keeping him in the short term, unless overwhelmed by an offer. Sano may or may not make it at third. After Sano Twins do not have a third base candidate above A ball. Next year or after next year the picture should be clearer on the value of Plouffe, until then listen, but only move him if the value is right.
  2. I do not agree with Thrylos very often, but here I do. Sell high. I view Brian Dozier as version 2.0 of Brandon Phillips and we all see how that worked out. Twins have many options in AA and above next year to replace him.
  3. No surprise here, Twins have many either kids to break in or extra starters to fill this role. His time was up.
  4. Difference in TV contracts. It makes a big difference. Means Red Sox will have to trade an outfielder. Hope the mid and small market teams make them pay by having to take the player for little or forcing them to eat a great deal of money.
  5. I also am having the issue, IE11 Windows 8.1.
  6. I agree hit is #1. Power is a question of what you mean, homeruns or gap power. With the Twins and their ballpark, gap power and speed play better here than elsewhere. Fielding to me is #2 with power #3. Range is a case of positioning and pitching where your fielders are expecting. Arm is a good asset, but if average is certainly only a small portion. Revere was such a bad example on arm, but a good example on what teams will do to a very below average arm. Speed is very important if you don't have a bash type of club. Look what the Royals did with speed, very disruptive and forces very quick decisions on where the ball needs to be thrown. Hit - 55 Fielding 18 Speed -12 Power - 10 Arm - 5
  7. Do not want to put that type of money into Dozier and think we have enough options to avoid it. Dozier is above average, he is not elite. Right now 3rd base seems to be a harder position to fill than second. Avoid overpaying above average players. Have no problems paying the elite players, several clubs have money issues at this time by overpaying above average players(Cinni, Cleveland, Detroit) for some. Red Sox had this issue until they traded a bunch of this type of player and now are working on signing only elite players(Haney Rameriz, Pablo Sandavol, John Lester) That is the correct way to go.
  8. Cannot have enough good pitching, hopefully the Twins have done their work and think he has a chance. Go for it, it probably does not have a lot of money costs tied to it.
  9. Do not think of him as a center fielder, but Twins should give him a real chance to win a starting job out of spring training. Would rather do that than sign a FA outfielder just to play and block all the youngsters coming up. If it does not all work out, you have the same option to sign an outfielder next winter.
  10. Until he plays here or at AAA against the better pitchers, we will not be able to tell. Hope he can make it out of spring training, but expect him to be sent to Rochester.
  11. Have no problem with this. Thought the Twins might drop a few more players, but maybe there is a trade working that would need a lower piece or two to be included. Do not have strong feelings on Gilmarten, maybe Twins viewed him as another starter like Kris Johnson or some of the starters the Twins have been putting out in spot situations the last 3 years. We do not see the scouting reports, though Seth and some others have better sources than the rest of us.
  12. I think it depends on how good either candidate is on helping a pitcher, fixing mechanical problems, and pitching to strengths of the pitcher. If either is a one size fits all am not interested.
  13. Would not want him or give anything for him, if he is released fine look at him. Would still make a deal for an outfielder who could be a longer term piece. Dozier for Kemp would fit my bill(for those who look for a comparison, I compare Dozier as another Brandon Phillips(This is one reason Cinni is having to trade a pitcher because his contract is an albatross)) Kemp may not be a cureall, but would give us a very good righthanded bat, average to average plus defense in a corner outfield and a larger piece of the puzzle if other prospects or Arcia fail in the long run. Twins have many middle infield prospects at this time, so trade a piece to get a better piece.
  14. Would be putting Escobar at 2nd, Santana at short and Nunez as the backup until Sano arrives. Could be another player rather than Nunez, but this would improve both the offense and the Defense until Buxton arrives in 2016. Doubt the Dodgers would eat a large amount of Kemp's salary, but some is possible. Remember 3 years ago Kemp was the 8th ranked player in baseball and he is either about 30 or under 30 at this time.
  15. Not interested unless the price really drops or several option years are included in the make good. Not that many good seasons and will only block pitchers the Twins need to find out about this year(May, Meyer, Berrios, Milone, Plefrey). Some of the above may not be here, but Twins already have 3 filled spots(Hughes, Nolasco, Gibson).
  16. Would like this to happen depending on price. Much better upside than many of the other names being suggested for the Twins.
  17. Expect the Twins will move a number of names off the 40 man and add more by Thursday, Expect they will add Gilmarten, they should add Wimmers. Goodrum and Michaels are much more troubling, but do not think they will lose them if not added. Michael could be a reach by a team without a lot of talent in the upper reaches of there system. Goodrum is just too far away.
  18. Money was not the big deal here, opening a spot in a better position and solving the outfield issue in one shot. Dozier will be expensive in 2-3 years and you will get less for him. Meant to have Santana as the shortstop and Nunez and the backup until Sano arrives. Blocking pitchers with #3 - 5 starters just makes no sense at this time.
  19. Do not need either Masterson or Rasmus. Masterson just blocks pitchers the Twins need to have here and Rasmus to a lessor degree blocks outfielders. Would rather see a Dozier for Matt Kemp trade and give Escobar the second base job with Santana the backup until Sano arrives after which Plouffe would be the backup or traded this year. Would like to see Burdi in the bullpen and a lefty reliever signed in the offseason. Do not need 2-3 long men so guess one of the losers in starting rotation jobs will be cut.
  20. No to both. Twins need to see if Meyer, May and Berrios(if he get to Minnesota this year) can help. Then the Twins will know how many starting pitchers they need to aquire.
  21. Cardinals keep making good deals, but Hart is no fool. Like this more for Cardinals, but Miller could be a decent pickup.
  22. I am fine with Hicks/Shaffer until other options arrive, there is not a free agent outfielder that would interest me.
  23. He is a clone of Aaron Hicks without the upside. His bat is very suspect and he does not have Shafer's speed on the bases. It would only block the development of the new Twins.
  24. If you do not sign someone like Tomas then you are hoping that one of Hick, Rosario, Shaffer or further down the line Walker makes it. Or that one of the young Shortstops(Polanco, Michael, Gordon) make it soon. Still think our best line is to package Dozier for Kemp(Dodgers do not have to eat salary, we play less than retail) 3 years ago Kemp was rated the 8th best player in baseball and he is still under 30.
