  1. Depends on who we can get. Would be nice to trade some of the veterans, but need value in return for most of them. Outside of Suzuki, do not see who we can get much value for, so do not expect much action. This is too bad, but just the way I see it.
  2. Looks great. Have lot of navigation work to do when I get time. Great job fellows. Still have problems with IE11 interface, but that might just be IE11. Will see if I have any contacts over that way to help.
  3. Suzuki or Duensing. Either one has value and both may be gone by the deadline. Hammer is also a possibility, only because someone will probably claim him in August to stop him from helping another team. Burton or Fien are more likely August deals based on injuries to contenders pitching staffs.
  4. We need to get May and Meyer up here now. This is an evaluation period and I understand the Twins may not want to put Meyer on the 40 man until September, but there is no reason May should not be here now. You could even put him in the bullpen for a week or two to get accustomed to major league hitters.
  5. Depends on how badly the Dodgers want to get rid of him. A few years ago he was a top 10 major league talent. He still is 29, maybe the Dodgers just aren't working out for him and a change in scenery is in order, I still would not want to give up top 10 prospects to get him, unless the Dodgers ate most of his salary would be reluctant to give up a top 20 prospect. Twins could still do much worse depending on the scenario, but would look hard at it.
  6. There is also a confidence factor and a horrible 2 months up here might take a long while to recover from. If you bring up Meyer for the bullpen, you are going to use him in non-stress situations. that may not further his development. One night does not a season make.
  7. Bye, Bye Matt, it was a good run. Need to start seeing the youngsters in Minnesota.
  8. I agree, but just do not think it will happen.
  9. This is with the 2nd or 3rd best farm system in the majors and 5 prospects in the top 50 of some lists. Twins best chance is to get most of these 5 and some of the rest up here to start 2016, you don't want to start losing key pieces just when you are ready to compete. Money for Free Agents can be spent at this time to fill the holes that don't work out.
  10. My shot at the lineup Starters Hughes, Meyer, Nolasco, May, Gibson Relievers, Perkins, Tonkin, Thielbar, Pressly, Burdi, Darnell, Fien Starting Lineup SS - Santana 1st - Mauer 2nd - Polanco 3rd - Sano LF - Arcia CF - Buxton RF - Rosario C - Pinto DH - Morales Bench - Escobar, Plouffe, Parmalee, Hicks Could see another young pitcher as part of the return for Dozier. If Twins cannot get that, then Dozier probably will still be here.
  11. I think the success the Cardinals are having with young pitchers should speak volumes to the Twins to get the young arms up here. May hopefully will be up in the next couple of weeks and Meyer should show up in September. Berrios in 2016 may be a reach, but he may make it. Stewart should be here in 2017, so the future is bright. Now if we can find some hitters.
  12. I think the Twins should listen on Dozier. If offer is good enough pull the trigger. Another tread showed the bust potential of any player to be about 80%. If you have 30 reasonably good prospect 6 will be very good and some of the rest will be useful.
  13. Depends on the prospects, but do not see the Twins doing this. Dodgers would want a starting pitcher(Nolasco?) and at least one of the Twins top 5 and another probably top 20 prospect. Might look at it if they would take Nolasco off our hands, but then it would depend on the rest of the package.
  14. Pohlad can give lip service to change, but he fired Bill Smith when it was suggested that the payroll go to about $130 million. Twins unless lucky will need a couple of outfielders for a 2 year term, and high level free agent want more than 2 years. It makes no sense to add another pitcher unless you add an ace and eat Mike Pelfrey's salary for next year, and give some money to possibly trade Nolasco and open a spot for that ace. Adding an ace is no sure thing and will cost $20-$25 million a year. That should only be given to a pitcher that is around 26-28 so you pay for there most effective years.
  15. I thought the two pieces were very interesting. Pohlad is being a realist, but is he willing to commit the dollars to speed up the process. My best guess is that it will be 2017 before this current club is seriously ready to compete. Twins will rate to break even this year, but next years attendance could be ugly and it may take a couple of years for the fans to come back. Ryan will probably stay, because Pohlad could go outside the organization if Ryan retires again and that would cost many of Ryan's staff their jobs. Also would TR stay on if Pohlad orders him to fire Gardy? This club does not have the talent to make the playoffs without selling some of the future to add more than one piece. That would be a mistake(read Orioles and it has taken then about 15 years to recover)
  16. Maybe this is not the spot for this discussion, but I view Dozier as a Brandon Phillips type, with more walks and maybe a little less defense. Is this good, yes, but in 3-4 years we will owe him a pile of money to keep him, with Polanco, if he makes it, as a superior defensive player and less power and more average. What does this leave, get a big package for Dozier now, as the package may go down over the next two years. We have 2-4 prospects, (Polanco, Rosario, Gordon, Micheal) to possibly fill the 2B spot. Take the chance now.
  17. Looks a little old for AA, but should be promoted to AAA to see what he can do. If he keeps up those numbers at AAA, should be given a September callup.
  18. Dozier has years of team control ahead, that is what makes him so valuable. Twins also have about 2 years before they are ready to contend. Moving a player now is a smart move. We need to see what we have. Dozier would have to be a major piece or two coming back, he is very valueable.
  19. This was expected. Hopefully Twins will have one of the prospects up after the break.
  20. Suzuki, Perkins and Dozier, along with Willingham, Morales, Correria, and most of the rest of the relievers should all be on the block. Let's make a deal. TR's strength is identifying class A ballplayers that have a future, put it to use.
  21. I believe this to be a short term move. Let's see what happens around the all star break as I bet Twins make some deals there or shortly after and this roster becomes far different than it is at the current time.
  22. Might as well take a shot. C - Suzuki, Fryer 1B Mauer 2B Escobar SS Santana 3B Plouffe - would like to see him traded Probably not enough value in return RF Arcia CF Rosaro - placeholder for Buxton LF Parmelee DH Colobello Bench Nunez, Fuld. Morales - not enough value to trade SP Hughes SP Gibson SP Nolasco - if healthy SP May SP Pino RP Perkins RP Burton RP Thielbar RP Deduno if not starting RP Swarzak RP Presley RP Achter RP Darnell
  23. This is very good for the Twins future. That is also why making trades for the right price could speed up the process. therefore Dozier should be front and center to be traded for the right deal. You can never have enough talent. Twins probably will finish low enough this year to get one last high draft pick, that will also help.
  24. Dozier is the one player who could bring back a haul of prospects from the top of a system. Perkins could also bring one good to great prospect, but would also bring the issue of a hometown talent giving a hometown discount and then being traded. Twins need to do what the Cubs just did and pull in as much talent as possible. Dozier given the club control would bring a premium.
