  1. Good to hear Bartlett is hitting the ball better, I feel people get way to hung up with SSS spring training stats. It is very possible that one guys 1 for 10 is looking much better than anothers 3 for 10 etc.
  2. Saying Kubel has no future is a bit disingenuous, he is only a season removed from a 30 HR .833 OPS yeah. Bartlett...whatever, he sucks now but maybe the Twins see something in him. I still think they end up bringing someone else in for the 25th spot and put Bartlett in AAA
  3. I think this opens the door to bringing in Morales or Drew.
  4. I for one am OUTRAGED from this article, 30 million in profit and you can't spend 2% of that profit to bring in DeRosa????? Pathetic.
  5. I'm not sure how you hold anyone accountable when a pitcher was coming off a very serious arm injury, and at no point after said injury did he look anything close to his pre-injury self. If Johan ends up pitching for the Orioles this year after his arm injury and stinks up the joint with a 5.60 ERA, is someone on the Orioles to blame? Or is it a simple case on an injury hurting and ending a guys promising career. I think that is the case here with Worley.
  6. Why does that hurt? Revere is a 4th OF (though a nice one at that) and May still has plenty of time/upside to pay off.
  7. Meh, at the end of the day the Twins traded a 4th OF with no bat, what did you expect in return? May was always the center piece of that return as a high upside (yet high risk) arm, Worley was just a throw in who also turned out to be a high risk/high reward guy due to the injury. If May comes even within a sniff of his ceiling this trade ends up being a win for the Twins. If he doesn't its a very minor loss as Hicks/Buxton are significantly better CF players and will both have better careers.
  8. I'm guessing they did it as a favor to Worley, clearly things weren't working here, nothing wrong with giving the guy a fresh start back in the national league.
  9. Probably was time for him to move on, his tenure with the Twins was nothing short of a disaster and he got absolutely lit up this spring. With Gibson grabbing the 5th spot out of ST, Worley was going to be buried in the org. I hope he can turn it around (not too much though where we regret it!) in Pittsburgh.
  10. Joe Dillon! This thread makes me smile.
  11. [h=2]This user likes USAFCHEIF'S post and wants to buy him/her a steak dinner: NICK NELSON 2009[/h]
  12. Fun fact to all the haters: Amongst Twins regulars last season, DeRosa would have had the 3rd highest OPS+
  13. I have nothing against Parmelee or Collabello, however neither bring much to the team other than a decent bat at best, no defense, no speed, no intangibles. They need to use that 25th spot on a guy that can A. Hit. B. Defend above average several key positions (SS, 2B, 3B as a preference) C. Has intangibles. The simple solution to this is: Mark DeRosa. Go get him Terry!
  14. Under no scenario should Mauer be considered an emergency catcher. Pinto will be catching 4-5 days a week come may 15th, book it
  15. As a rule of thumb, the twins shouldn't be digging through the trash piles of the few teams that are worse than them.
  16. IMO bringing Pinto north is the right decision, pencil him in the lineup 2-3 times a week as a C and one game or so as a DH, let him work on his defense. If he comes out like he ended last year, he will be in the lineup everyday by May.
  17. Yup! I wouldn't emulate anything the Royals have done...do they have young talent? Sure, but they are far from a model franchise.. The Royals are also a cautionary tale of putting too many eggs in the "hey all of our prospects will pan out!" basket.
  18. Not sure why a team would need to "scout" KC if they are interested in trading for him, he is pretty much a known asset at this point. There is really no reason why the Twins should be trading May. His trade value isn't near its peak and the Twins cant afford to trade away any legit pitching prospects.
  19. I can't see any team having any interest in Parmelee, they could find several better AAAA options for free.
  20. I don't see the real upside in starting Meyer out in the majors this year. First off: There is zero reason to start his clock that quickly. Second: He needs some time in the minors to refine his pitches. Gardy shouldn't get any say-so, that isn't his job. Gardy's job is to win every game he can this year, Ryan's job is to ensure the Twins are good in the near and long term future.
  21. The most overrated stat is clearly the stat: freak101
  22. A pitcher can win a game, if they pitch a complete game and give up no runs (earned on unearned) they in fact do win games. I think wins are a bit over rated, but errors are the most over rated IMO
