  1. Baring a huge run of injuries I think this team wins at least 85 games and sniffs the playoffs. Why? May and/or Meyer coming up is going to make this a rather solid rotation. Hughes is pitching like an ACE, Nolasco has been getting unlucky and should pitch like a number two the rest of the way, DeDuno keeps doing what he does and has solidified himself in being a nice back end of the rotation type guy. Gibson is coming along nicely as well and is showing some flashes. -Willingham is finally healthy and is hitting like a beast. -Dozier is only getting better and better. -Other than Escobar and Kurt there aren't really that many regression candidates on this squad. -Mauer and Arcia are both going to come on very strong and will end their seasons with 120 OPS+
  2. I am going to the game today, thus we already know the Twins will lose. The good news is you can enjoy this beautiful day with your family/friends/lover(s) instead of wasting 4 hours watching Correia give up bomb after bomb. Your welcome in advance, SOVD
  3. Seriously, Mark DeRosa is waiting for the call TR! CF problem-Fixed Leadership problem-Fixed Emergency Catcher- Fixed Hot Wife Quota- Fixed
  4. Lol I hear ya. Reusse to me just seems so pointless to read/follow these days, he is clearly one of those old timers who has been doing this gig for far too long where he comes off as old and grumpy in the majority of his "articles", his demeanor seriously reminds me of what would happen when I would wake up my grandpa from a nap when I was younger. The whole "if you disagree with these I don't care" quip sums it up perfectly, he clearly has no desire to adapt to the changes in media. The Tribune should just offer him a severance package to let him retire (I don't care about his radio show as I prefer KFAN), bring in some younger talent that actually has enthusiasm to write about the sport. Sid at least is kinda funny in a harmless slightly clueless at times old man sort of way, Reusse is just a curmudgeon.
  5. People still read Reusse?
  6. In no scenario should Mauer be expected to be an "emergency" catcher. I'd rather just lose the DH for an at-bat or two.
  7. I don't understand the Gardy bashing on this. I think the situation will fix itself soon enough, Kurt is frankly playing well enough to be the everyday catcher, he is taking some really, really good at bats and having him in the lineup every day so far has benefited the Twins. The DH position is a log jam, I hope Willingham can show some signs of life so they can trade him sooner rather than later, once that happens Pinto is your everday DH (while catching 1-2 times per week as well)
  8. Anyone who would boo Mauer is a freaking idiot.
  9. You stream it over the interwebs, you can do it online, or using any of their apps (iphone, android, xbox, roku etc) If for no other reason, pick it up so you can listen to Vin Scully once in a while.
  10. Why wouldn't Ichiro be a starter on this team?
  11. mlb.tv offers radio service for about $19 a year, well worth it.
  12. How has Plouffe not been stepping up? He leads the league in doubles and has a 111 OPS+, not sure what more you expect from him. I have this weird feeling that Mauer is playing through an injury all season, I have never seen him struggle like this.
  13. Dozier should prob make the home run derby.
  14. Ichiro Suzuki Now, don't get me wrong, he isn't the most ideal CF in the world at this point, but in a pinch I think he can handle CF while Hicks goes down to AAA to work things out. Ichiro is having a nice year for the Yankees, but is currently in a back up role, there were talks before the season about him wanting to play every day and honestly I don't see why that would change for him. What would it take to get him?
  15. I really hope Mauer turns it out over the next 6 weeks and earns a spot, it would be a shame for him to miss the game when it is in his hometown. Other than that: Perkins, Hughes and Dozier all deserve nods IMHO.
  16. It's a pretty tough situation for the Twins, osing Mastro and Pressly seriously is nothing to get upset about...at all! They got a superior player in Fuld, who just happened to get injured, while this happened Hicks decided to switch to being a righty full time (which I commend him for). I am wondering if Buxton were healthy if he would get a cup of coffee? But of course he is injured/recovering as well. The Twins ultimately will be fine, they will find a AAAA CF in the meantime.
  17. You know what else can save his career!?!? Not throwing in the towel on himat the age of 24
  18. https://www.edx.org/course/bux/bux-sabr101x-sabermetrics-101-1558#.U34_ti-tg-N Anyone else signed up?
  19. I have been to 8 Vikings games, have yet to see them win a single game. (Never in the dome though) 0-3 when watching the T-pups. Good news is I am above .500 when it comes to the Wild. I was however at game 7 back in 91, so at the end of the day I will take 21 out of 22 losses any day
  20. I will be at that Yankee series, so you can count those as three losses as the Twins have lost 21 of the last 22 games I have attended live.
  21. Hicks almost has as many walks this year as he did all of last year, that is extremely encouraging and shows he is not swinging at bad pitches, he has all the tools to be successful, at this point it may be a confidence or bad luck thing more than anything else. Ultimately I think he will be fine, he should absolutely stay as the starting CF until Buxton is ready, and at that point hopefully he will be a nice option for us as a LF. Also in his last 15 games (I know I know SSS) he has picked it up a bit with a .238 BA and .742 OPS Likely the average and power will come up (as he has shown in his minor league abilities and even his power last year) I would be shocked if he can't hit .250 from here on out the rest of the year (Which would end the season around .225 I believe?). The key will be if he can keep his walk rate up, if he can, we might be looking at a guy who could potentially give us a .250/.370/.360 slash line the rest of this season. Also he is only 24...still plenty of time.
