suzuki will make a decent backup catcher somewhere, but I would prefer it not be here, and I would prefer he is traded by July 31st. Kurt seems like a great guy, teammate and it was pretty cool he made an all star team, something I'm sure he will be proud of for life. But this team is completely rebuilding (whether anyone in the org wants to admidt it or not), and having a veteran catcher like him on the roster isn't needed. Trade him to a contender and let him play in meaningful games! Murphy isn't a sure thing at all for a ML starting catcher, so with that said I would rather the Twins continue to try to find a guy who could stick at catcher as a starter, and have Murphy as the backup heading into 2017, if Murphy "earns" a starting gig then we have a really good problem on our hands! Ramos on a 2-3 year deal would be my choice, or I would try to buy extremely low on Zunino. Seattle could be a decent fit as a trade partner for him, they have Ianetta but would Probably like Suzuki as the backup.

NY murder rate went down 300% national murder rate went down 40%. Gun deaths overall went drastically down once they cracked down on them with MMS. (Typically I don't like MMS, but in the case of violence or guns, I don't mind)

That still doesn't excuse it though, overall they have one of the worser bullpens in the league. A lot of that has to do with Jepsen being a disaster of course.

I'm not trying to single him out, I think he has been effective for what he was brought into be:a LOOGY. My main point is that a lot more needed to be brought in other than a LOOGY. Abad is good in that role, however he isn't an 8th inning guy.

The problem is, those four guys haven't been pitching in the "big" innings for the most part. They have started pitching Abad lately in the later innings/hold situations and he has now fallen on his face his last couple outings. Yes, they aren't really "the problem" but the bullpen as a whole, overall has been a problem.

I will give the Twins this: they are making a lot of hard things look easy this year, and a lot of easy things look hard.

I don't think that's how it works...I'm pretty sure the Twins have 7 days to place him on waivers, they can try to trade him in the meantime.

FYI: Arcia doesn't need to become Ortiz 2.0 to render this a boneheaded decision. If he out produces Danny Santana or Pat Dean from here on forward it cements it as a boneheaded decision.

Milone has had a decent amount of success at the major league level, he deserves another shot, especially on this disaster of a rotation. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up our de facto "ace" the rest of the way. Of course then they wouldn't trade him, and likely would sign him to a 2 year extension. Clearly they won't bring Berrios up again anytime soon.

Yup, takes no responsibility and frankly doesn't "get it" This mess is his making and his making alone. Nobody forced him to hold onto veterans until their trade value hit a rock bottom, nobody forced him to give extensions to guys after career seasons our half seasons, nobody forced him to not improve a terrible bullpen, nobody forced him to take our best hitting prospect in a decade and stick him in a position that makes zero sense for him, nobody forced him to ignore high upside pitchers and players on the FA market and to instead sign a bunch of aging vets. Him passing the buck as "well, sometimes prospects need time to grow" is laughable. Make no mistake, this is the 110 loss team Terry Ryan built.

ERA is not a good stat to use with RP. Abads ERA was so low because he kept getting bailed out by the people coming in after him, while allowing something like 40% of inherited runs to score himself. If you want to give him a pass on the bullpen (which to me is insane) then I guess you can't give him a pass on the rotation, right? A rotation that has a 5.73 ERA and not a single guy pitching like even a #4

How does he still have a job? Seriously? Any other team in all of sports would have canned him 10x already by now. Thank you for ruining the Minnesota Twins Terry Ryan, in 5 short years by "coming back" you have now destroyed all the good will/decent results from your first run as the GM. Honestly, as long as they don't give Plouffe, Suzuki, or Jepsen an extension I will consider that a massive win. That's how low expectations have fallen, I will be freaking excited if they actually are competent enough to get rid of overpaid mediocre players (where we have better, younger and cheaper guys behind them) at the end of the year. If they can manage to trade one, two or all three for some PTBNL I might throw a parade in their honor.

If the Twins were in the playoff hunt, then maybe the argument can be made to get rid of Arcia, but a team that is on pace for 120+ losses, there is absolutely zero reason to cut loose a young player with 30 HR, .800+ OPS upside. Arcia wasn't tearing it up this year, but he had a higher OPS thus far then the following players: Escobar Plouffe Kepler Santana Buxton Every catcher the Twins have had play for them this year. I don't get the fascination with Santana at this point, Arica has 30 HR upside as mentioned above, Santana's upside is clearly that of a utility player at best. He doesn't particularly field well enough up the middle to be above average off the bench as a util INF, and he doesn't hit nearly enough to be valuable in the OF. Or of course they could have just trade Plouffe in the first place instead of forcing Sano into a crowded OF, and getting him more or less potentially injured as well by playing him in RF. Now we are stuck with Santana, a guy who very likely wouldn't be on another single major league roster, and Plouffe, a guy that under no scenario should be on this ball club in 2017. Maybe he regains a tiny bit of value, but he isn't going to bring back anything of real note at this stage certainly. What will make this 100x more frustrating is that we just know that they will send down Kepler in a couple weeks if he has a 5-6 game bad stretch anyways. Ugh. Terry Ryan and the entire front office needs to go NOW. 2016 is toast and now they are making things even worse for 2017....2018....etc. Good luck to Arcia, I hope for his sake he becomes a poor mans Ortiz somewhere and can hit 25-30HR a year for the next several years. I wouldn't be shocked if a playoff caliber team like the Cardinals or the Mariners (would make a solid platoon partner with F Guit) claim him ASAP.

More or less cut him in favor of Danny Santana, a guy who has no chance of being even an average major league player (he can maybe be a decent Util Guy...) but this is like cutting a 30 HR guy in order to keep Denny Hocking. If the twins were in the playoff hunt, maybe you make this move, but on pace for 120 losses you don't cut young players with upside....
