  1. Instantly becomes our best catching prospect by a long ways.
  2. A lot of what he wrote is right, but I disagree heavily with the Sano weight comments as well as bashing the Twins for taking Kohl Stewart. Good lord, Stewart was in the top 30 prospects prior to this season, does he realize that High School arms take a few years to develop? Basically Reusse is just repeating what everyone has been saying for the last month or two (with some wrong comments mixed in as well) complaining about craft beer prices at stadiums is a tired trope. Personally, I don't mind that the team celebrated the walk off win, too often their morale has looked terrible, so anything that brings them together is fine by me.
  3. A got a set of 4 of the mugs on black Friday from Amazon, usually they are like $20-$30 each, but they were marked down to about $7 each.
  4. Got back from Paris last night, just in time for the Twins walk off victory, looks like I didn't miss a whole lot while I was across the pond (as the old timers like Chief say) Buxton apparently looks like a ball player, Nunez is continuing to up that trade value, the Twins lost a lot, the pitching sucked and somehow Sano got hurt did I miss anything? Oh also, Paris is a great, great city, probably my second favorite in the world at this point behind NYC. Great people, better food, bestest wine.
  5. Actually I just re-read his article when he stated he wouldn't run third party, so maybe he wouldn't have ran if it was Trump vs Bernie, basically it comes down to him stating his odds of winning would be nil, and even if he did win a lot of votes etc it would then goto congress (GOP) to elect the next POTUS https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2016-03-07/the-2016-election-risk-that-michael-bloomberg-won-t-take Again, I would LOVE for him to be on the ticket, he really would be the perfect match for the ticket, and I think the dems win that election in an even more of a landslide.
  6. I still think he would have run as an independent if it would have ended up Trump vs Sanders, and honestly, I think he would have had a chance to do quite well. But at 74, I don't see how it would be a jumping off point for his own future run though, maybe if he was a decade or so younger, but I can't see him running at the age of 83. I'm not trying to be discriminatory against age, but I wouldn't feel comfortable electing an 83 year old as POTUS, the odds of some very serious (and tough medical questions) coming into play are very high. (i.e. Dementia)
  7. The thing about Bloomberg is that he is so much more successful, respected etc I don't think he actually cares about Trump that much or "trumping trump" so to speak. I mean the dude is worth 45 BILLION dollars, is a pretty highly regarded NYC mayor (at least his first two terms), and runs very successful businesses. He is also 74, so their just isn't a whole lot to be gained at this point IMO. His third term from mayor also seemed to take a decent amount out of him as he really took criticism poorly, Hurricane Sandy and the marathon debacle comes to mind. Bloomberg also would/could potentially overshadow Hilary as well? Again, I would be all for it. But I just can't see him having any real interest in the role.
  8. Sherrod Brown seems like a good bet as he checks a lot of the boxes: Swing State (Ohio) Populist He's not exactly young though, and is 63, so again, not really the "future" of the party. Julien Castro from Texas is another obvious choice at this stage. I would love for Bloomberg to be on the ticket, he would be such an awesome counter punch to Trump, but I'm not sure Bloomberg would be interested in VP.
  9. Good point.
  10. Yeah, I think Warren would make an excellent choice and would be a potential great heir apparent in 8 years. Or any young progressive liberal would make sense, the key to me would be someone the party can rally around in 8 years etc. I think part of people's problem with Hilary is that her running for POTUS was nothing knew, people want fresh faces, not the same faces that ran (and didn't win 8 years ago) This isn't a knock on Hilary at all, and it doesn't bother me, but I think it bothers some people who are always looking for the next "hope"
  11. 45% of people aren't afraid of Clinton, her centrism etc. They just preferred Bernie more for whatever reason. When Obama beat Hilary his lead at this stage of the game was significantly less than Hilary's over Bernie's. Tensions are still heated now, but people will always rally around the party nominee for the most part, of course there will be the very vocal minority that won't, but that won't really matter anyways. Do you really think Hilary won't win Oregon, Washington, etc?
  12. Ugh I really hope it is zero. Having a the POTUS and VP have an average age of 70 (78 in 8 years) is not a good idea. The VP needs to be a young up and comer within the party and someone they can look for in the future. She could promise him a spot in her cabinet or in some advisory role in which he can help push a couple of his agendas. But he really makes no sense as a VP candidate, considering his pretty radical overall agenda. At the end of the day, a decent amount of the people who voted for Bernie will vote for Hilary, the "bernie bros" may not, but they are mostly made up of young 20 something white voters, that demographic never comes out to vote in general elections anyways. I would hate to see the demographic party be held hostage due to a very vocal minority of people (the true Bernie or Bust people) Even if they can't reach that group, it's still not a huge deal IMO. You are going to have a ton of women, minority and moderate republicans who refuse to vote for Trump this election. They may not vote for Hilary, but they won't come to the polls at all. Hilary's "challenge" of reaching the bernie bros is a much less difficult one than Trumps "challenge" or reaching the moderate republicans/middle of the road folks. I thought for sure he would tone down the racist rhetoric once he won the nominee, but with the embarrassing judge comments recently it looks like he is just doubling down. I have a lot of friends and some extended family who have voted republican the majority of the time, to almost a person I haven't heard a single one say they will vote for Trump (now maybe some will, but won't publicize it) but mostly I hear them split between not voting at all, or voting for Hilary. I don't see any way Trump turns a few blue states red (and keeps all the previous red ones red) from the last election. I could even see him struggling to win a state like Texas when it's all said and done.
  13. Not to mention he is over 3 MILLION votes behind Clinton as well. In reality this thing never was close to begin with, and the only thing that we were shown is that the caucus system needs to change.
  14. Until the Twins actually make another world series. Red Sox fans lamented the Bambino trade for 80+ years, if the Twins kept Ortiz around they almost certainly would have won at least one title.
  15. I just don't see Nunez sticking at SS everyday, I think he could stick at 2B or 3B for a ML club, but with Sano the future at 3B (for hopefully the next 2-3 years) Nunez doesn't have a spot unless Dozier is traded (I would be cool with that) Of course if he keeps hitting like he is, his bat could play anywhere.
  16. Punto being a part of that trade was the best part.
  17. I think he was referring to Nunez and his production in 2016 thus far.
  18. Im happy to eat crow in regards to Nunez, but I still think this is the time to sell high on him. The twins have zero other real tradable assets (assuming Bux and Sano and Berrios are off limits) However at this stage I wouldn't trade him just to trade him (like dozier and plouffe) but if they can get back a solid front end pitching prospect I think you need to think about doing it.
  19. He had a .500 slugging percentage and 20 HR in 400 AB his last season in Minnesota. He wasn't exactly "flying below the radar" IMO. The power and talent were there.
  20. This 100% I hated it at the time, and hate it even more now. Ortiz was my favorite player on those teams, super fun, down to earth guy and he could hit the ball a mile. My Ortiz signed jersey is still a favorite of mine.
  21. They are back, and as bad as they have ever been. Very disruptive.
  22. It's hard to give the braintrust the benefit of the doubt after the results thus far to be honest. I still like the move though.
  23. I agree 100% My nearest ballpark is Citi Field, and they have done a much better job overall then the Twins, not only in the adult/food/drink game, but in the kid/family friendly "game" as well.
  24. I think bringing him up is a great move. You should reward guys for playing well in AAA, especially guys who are the future of this team. Hopefully this third time is a charm for Byron and he sticks in the majors for the next 15+ years
