  1. DSP never should have been kept around after the Cordova/Cancer Kid/Twins stadium TV commercial that he green lit. That is truly disgusting and an embarrassment to Twins fans everywhere. Suffice to say, I think he is long overdue to leave. I know his job isn't "baseball operations", but I'm not impressed with his work as a whole anyways. It seems like every new "Target Field" initiative, is just another lazy white labeled bar. The fan "experience" at TF is great if you have disposable money and like to drink (which is fine by me personally) but I don't think it's a great place to take a family of 5. Other than TC and the Target Mascot race I don't see a whole lot of reasons to take a kid under the age of 6. They could certainly do a much better job in this regard, instead of building another 2-3 bars each year.
  2. ....
  3. I don't think he will ever be "peak" Mauer that wins Batting titles and MVPs again. But I do think he is significantly better than his last two o seasons and will post a .820-.850 OPS this season and the next 2-3, which makes him an asset. .310-.325 BA for the batting average crowd. Hopefully that gives him enough of a push to make him a first ballot hall of gamer.
  4. Seattle dogs (cream cheese+scallions+Siracha) are the best things ever sir!
  5. Complain all you want, Jepsen was 2 of 2 this series for saves. #provenCloser!!!!!11!!!
  6. Nice.
  7. Plenty of positive posts friend-o. Just not a whole lot this year...
  8. Each have 3 straight games with HR's. In a season full of misery this seems to be a nice bright spot. Sano hasn't gotten off to the white hot start we all hoped, but the power is coming back around and is now on pace for 35+ HR I believe. Mauer, hot start, big slump, but now is hitting bombs, definitely encouraging.
  9. Fwiw: I have family at the game and they said Hughes was PISSED when Molly took him out. I didn't see it, was watching that awesome NBA game, but I can't blame them for pulling him after he gave up 9 hits in 4 2/3....
  10. Fidel Castro > Ricky Nolasco
  11. Good list, however the green river killer had a much better VORSK then Bundy. Also Pikes Place Market > MoA
  12. Have you seen Mrs. DeRosa though?
  13. Have you seen DeRosa on MLB network? He is very sharp, "new school" guy who understands shifts, analytics, etc He would make a solid managerial candidate IMO.
  14. Both Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com and Mark Bowman of MLB.com wrote forward-looking pieces pertaining to the Braves and potential long-term successors for Fredi Gonzalez following the skipper’s dismissal this week. Crasnick lists former Braves infielder Mark DeRosa, currently an MLB Network analyst, as a possibility, noting that a pair of execs with different clubs each mentioned him.
  15. Add Mark DeRosa (serious) to that list as well. I really would prefer a spanish speaker though, the Twins have had a tough time lately with some of their top Latin prospects, something seems to be lost in translation at times. (Short leash with Berrios, Rosario, comments about Sano behind the scenes etc) There are 30 MLB teams, 28 of the current managers are white (93%). Only 55-58% of current MLB players are white, seems to be a market inefficiency in here somewhere...
  16. Continued praise? Give me a break, it was a dumb comment but it wasn't exactly saying endorsing him: I respect Fidel Castro," Guillen said in the article. "You know why? A lot of people have wanted to kill Fidel Castro for the last 60 years, but that [expletive] is still here." Dumb comment? Yup! But Guillen apologized. Meanwhile the Twins basically rolled out the red carpet for Torii Hunter last year who in his career disparaged an entire group of people (homosexuals) multiple times, and endorsed candidates with anti LGBT legislation. Oh and he also had some really dumb comments about latin players. Keep in mind, Hunter never apologized for any of this. Of course he was an original Minnesota Twin, so everyone forgives him. Guillen makes a stupid comment, apologizes yet a bunch of Minnesota (non Cuban mostly) fans hold it against him 5 years later. Hmmmm, maybe our anti White Sox bias is getting the best of some of us. If you don't want Guillen, then that's fine, he has his cons, but to use some faux outrage of a dumb comment (which he apologized for) 4-5 years ago is just kinda lazy.
  17. I was supposed to be at this series this weekend in Seattle, after the brutal first 4-5 weeks of the season we decided to goto Paris, France (early next week) instead of west coast Twins watching. The best part about Paris is it will be nearly impossible to watch this team. Now THAT is a vacation. I think Pat Dean is in for a tough night tonight, the Mariners have some dudes that MASH LHP.
  18. Bernie hasn't been a compromising senator in the least, in fact he is the 2nd most partisan senator currently, the 3rd most partisan was Ted Cruz... It's all pretty irrelevant anyways, Bernie has been officially eliminated for weeks now, instead of rallying his supporters behind the rest of the liberals/democrats he is continuing to take donations from the naive and people who many can't afford to be giving. He would be much better served getting his Bernie Bros to focus on key house and senate races.
  19. Boston has a 3rd baseman significantly younger, better and cheaper than Plouffe.
  20. True, Guillen would carry some risk. If I were GM I would fire Molitor if the Twins don't win this next series, and then go out and hire Guillen as the interim manager. If he turns it around then the next GM can decide if he wants to keep him or not. IMO Molitor has already lost te clubhouse.
  21. Good manager, won a title, speaks Spanish (think of how many spanish first speaking key players the Twins will have on the roster the next few years) takes the pressure off his players etc. Everyone wants a Joe Maddon type, but there aren't a whole lot of Joe Maddon's out there. Dave Martinez would be a great choice as well though.
