  1. You are a major league quality mod in my heart. /hopes diehardtwinsfan takes some of my warning points away
  2. Yeah, the Twins obsession with signing crappy veteran starting pitchers (Why on earth was Pelf given TWO contracts with this team?) yet run for the hills anytime a good RP asks for 2-3 years is one of the more damning and frustrating things with this front office. Of course they will always over pay for a closer, whether in years, money or trade chips, but they seem to ignore year in and year out the fact that you need good guys to pitch the 6th, 7th and 8th innings as well. They failed to address it prior to last season and it cost them a shot at the playoffs (games in April, May, June, July count just as much as August and Sept!) So what do they do? They do the exact same thing this off-season! And what happens? 2nd worst bullpen in the league!
  3. The Twins finished with the 8th best record out of 15 in the AL last season. Let's please stop pretending like that is some sort of successful season the Twins should be celebrated for. To me that is the absolute bare minimum that could be expected after a 4+ year rebuild and 100+ million dollar payroll.
  4. At the time I thought it was too much, and I still think it was too much. Hu was one of our better options in the minors, instead we trade him (a hard thrower) and keep around the soft tossing guy (Dean) The twins really need to stop trading from a position of weakness for RP period. First it was Ramos, now it's Hu. I guess one positive about this team being so bad this year is that there is no chance they will deal a guy like Rosario for a "proven closer"
  5. 3B should be filled by Sano (all season long actually) and Park shouldn't have been signed in the first place (but now that he is here, should be in AAA) Arcia isn't good in the OF, but he isn't the worst thing to ever happen out there, in fact he is better than Hunter was last year. There is no reason why you couldn't have an OF of Arcia-Buxton-Kepler these days. Once Rosario is back then you move Arcia to DH! Danny Santana has no business being in a major league roster. Grossman can be your 4th OF and we have enough guys for the INF.
  6. I'm really concerned that Park is much more Adam Brett Walker than he is Adam Dunn. I get the whole "he needs to see major league pitching" but I hen you are having a sub .400 ops you absolutely need some time in the minors. If you are going to send down Rosario, why on earth are you refusing to send down Park?
  7. If there is one team that would refuse to bring up Sano Until after the Park promotion it would be the Twins. Hopefully I am wrong. But Park needs to be in AAA now, and Sano needs to be back up now.
  8. I think Bill Smith gets blamed way more than he should. He wasn't a great GM, but he wasn't as bad as people say.
  9. That and wood bats break a lot/cost a lot. While this isn't a concern for D-1 or even a lot of D-2 and larger high schools, it would be a concern for a huge chunk of high schools who don't have sponsors or money to pay the $60-$120 every time a bat breaks. I played (poorly) in a wood bat league up until 2 years ago, and there is nothing more annoying then breaking a bat and flushing another $60+ down the drain. Now times that by 15+ guys on a high school team over the course of a full season (plus practices and scrimmages) and it would add up very quickly.
  10. "Babe Ruth"- USAFCHIEF
  11. Speaking of the 2017 rotation, Hu would have looked like a pretty good candidate for it....as a 22 year old he has 2.34 ERA 8.0 k/9 2.3 bb/9 in AA. Just another reason why it's dumb to overpay for "proven closers" on the trade market.
  12. If Anthony made some good trades, and somehow the Twins started winning at a 90 win clip (i.e. a playoff team) I would certainly give him credit and a shot to "stick" around if he could prove that he simply wasn't TR 2.0 I have nothing against Anthony at all, he very well could be a much different GM then TR, nobody knows. That is why I would like them to give him the shot now (you have 3-4 months to prove yourself) rather than give him all of 2017/2018/2019 to prove himself. Its not a stretch to say that if Ryan is fired/retires, that the clear odds on favorite to be the next GM is Anthony. Most people don't like that, myself included, but it is the reality of the situation, he is the clear odds on favorite at this stage. Thus why not give him his shot now? If he turns things around? Keep him for 2017. If he doesn't (much more likely) then let him go at the end of the year as well.
  13. This is true, however Dougie is already well respected in the baseball circles already, if he comes up, gives the team a jolt then he at least puts himself in consideration for the job to the new GM. If the GM then decides to go with someone else, then perhaps Doug catches on somewhere else anyways. Dougie will be a major league manager sooner rather than later anyways, I'd love to see him get his shot now and see what he can do with the youngsters. What's the worst that can happen? Seriously.
  14. FWIW attendance is now in the bottom 7 in the major leagues and continuing to fall. Also at this stage I imagine the already shrinking season ticket holder base is taking a significant hit for 2017 renewals as well. The Pohlads certainly will have taken notice. The big question is, will they actually do something about it? Or let GM for life (their words, not mine) Terry Ryan continue to call the shots?
  15. I guess it depends on what you would get in return and if you think Dunn has all star potential at PG and can start right away. I'd prefer to keep Rubio around, but if you can get good value for him....you have to at least listen, no?
  16. Wade would be a nice fit, but I honestly can't see him leaving Miami at this stage of his career, I think he wants to stay for life. The only way I could see him leaving is if it was for one last ring, but the T Pups don't fit that scenario.....yet.
  17. Nice try FBI!
  18. Arya is as good as dead IMO after her Hannibal like approach to solving her problems. I think she is now way too obsessed with revenge and it will ultimately be her downfall. (Ditto with old lady Tyrell) Dany and Cersei are both too obsessed with power, thus that will be both their downfalls as well. Jon Snow, Sansa and Tyrion will be the last three standing IMO.
  19. Yeah, Hillary calling out the Saudis has been a very welcome (and long overdue) thing. They have been playing puppet master for far too long and have a ton of blood on their hands in these matters.
  20. Bad players (and even decent ones) get cut all the time across sports for being convicted of crimes. I mean I feel bad he is an alcoholic and hope he gets help, but sorry, that doesn't excuse his actions of getting in a car wasted and driving. He definitely should know better, and if he doesn't or can't control himself, then perhaps he should stay in rehab or goto jail so he doesn't drive drunk again.
  21. Meanwhile Robbie Grossman has continued his extremely predictable crash back to earth. .170/.302/.264 in his last 15 games and it keeps getting worse and worse. I wouldn't be surprised if Arcia passes him OPS wise by the all star break. Meanwhile Park continues to embarrass himself at the plate as the average has dipped below .200 and the OPS below .690. In his last 30 games Park is sporting a nifty .123/.208/.236 line with a 39.8% k rate that would make even Juan Castro blush. Why isn't he in AAA again? You can't make it up.
  22. I want to see the team I root for eventually compete for a World Series, Terry Ryan has had 20+ years to "build" an organization that could win a title, he has failed, and to top it off the Twins are now in the midst of their worst season of all time. Yes firing people does suck, but it absolutely needs to happen from time to time in sports. Or they can keep everyone around, myself and most other fans will continue to miss 95% of the games as the Twins struggle to lose less than 100 games.
  23. DUI is far from a victimless crime...If the player was as poor at their job as Allen was then there actually would be a good chance that they were cut from this team.
  24. I never said fire everyone, I said fire Molitor and Ryan. Let the interims (whoever they are) try to turn things around this year, then go into the off-season with the #1 priority of finding a new GM (who will run the whole FO) and let him pick and choose who stays and go in both the FO and the managerial staffs. I know most of us don't have much faith in Anthony, but I am a little curious to see what he would do in a half season if he had 100% control (and not having to get approval from TR) to make the trades/moves needed. Fire Ryan, let Anthony handle the trade deadline, if by some chance he makes some real kickass trades, then let Anthony interview for the full time gig (along with plenty of outside org guys). If he falls on his face or proves to be Ryan 2.0, then he is simply not brought back in 2017 period.
