  1. Here is an interesting note in re: to Sharia law:
  2. It's because they don't know any better and don't have the resources/education to think for themselves, the leaders of those countries have made damn sure of that. Of course, we will all give a pass to the North Korean citizens who denounce America because they "Don't know any better"
  3. Plenty of people (mostly minorities) in the bible belt are murdered by police, with the police receiving no punishment. There are also several innocent people who have been killed by the state (electric chair, lethal injection) that were later found to have been innocent, and once again this happens highly disproportionate in regards to minorities. And that isn't even getting into how our justice system/prison system in general is highly racist. So while no, there aren't honor killings or lynchings going on, let's not pretend that America is some infallible giant that can do no wrong. Instead of blaming bad stuff on religion etc, maybe we should actually dig a little deeper to find out why humans have loved killing other humans since the dawn of time? Of course that is a little more difficult then "hey that guy is different then me! He is the wrong one!"
  4. I am very versed in Muslims, their feelings and these "studies"etc I am talking about ISIS, which is the current main threat to the US/Western culture, random countries supporting Sharia law does NOT mean they support ISIS in the least. Stop making it seem like the majority of Muslims are calling for bombings/killings of innocent people. Per your pew research: So it's not really a religion issue, it's specific countries (mostly poor countries with very little education, economic opportunity etc) issue. How do we fix this? An outpouring of resources and education to these countries, and yes, it's not going to be a quick/easy fix, it will take generations, but that is how the world works. Keep in mind, in the US there are still several states that prefer to NOT give equal rights to: Women, Homosexuals and minorities. That doesn't mean "Christianity" is to blame or even the US is to blame, it's specific states(regions), and just like above, most of those states are the ones who lack good education and good economic opportunity.
  5. I have as well, 7 years of my life unfortunately, what I saw/experienced were a high number of people who still look HIGHLY down on any non white person (especially blacks and Mexicans) as well as people who look down on homosexuals. The more "reasonable" ones would basically say racist stuff like "Well, I don't have an issue with black people, but I will be damned if I let my daughter ever bring one home!" While they won't come out and basically say "I support the KKK!" their actions and comments more or less are in line with the KKK when it comes to inferiority and the like.
  6. You clearly haven't spent much time in the bible belt.
  7. But it is, only a tiny fraction of Islamists support ISIS or are involved in ISIS. That's really all I care about "defeating", if we are suddenly in the "we care about human rights issues EVERYWHERE and need to make sure those things are fixed in the middle east" then we have a pretty large uphill battle ahead of us, including most of Africa, parts of Europe and Asia in addition to the middle east. Funny that I haven't heard much about helping the African people other than a brief KONY bit. It's pretty clear that going into the middle east with force and trying to push our "values" fails spectacularly.
  8. Any thoughts on Santana to the Mariners as well? Suzuki+Nunez+Santana for Paxton+ a couple toss in nobodies could make sense, it also opens up roster spots for Berrios and Polanco.
  9. Zunino was clearly rushed, his k rate this year (albeit in AAA) has bee cut in half. He is only 25 as well, still plenty of time for him to reach his potential.
  10. Catchers with 30+ HR power don't come around that often. I like Kepler, but he is a corner OF who will continue to have to rake to make himself valuable, plus Kepler doesn't have that super star upside IMO. Kepler for Zunino would actually be a pretty even trade.
  11. One guy I would really like to target would be James Paxton. Suzuki+Nunez won't get it done, but I wonder if there is some prospect or other player we can give up? Maybe a target for the off-season though. Additionally, I am curious if the Mariners would be interested in Santana, Miley and Karns both suck. Iwakuma has taken a step back as well. Santana could be an appealing #3 for the M's the rest of this year and moving forward behind the King and Walker.
  12. Yup, it's an extremely small % that support terror, and an even much smaller percentage that actually are involved in terrorism. Something along the lines of 0.1% and 0.0001% of all Muslims respectively IMO. Blaming it on Islam as a whole is ridiculous, yes, there are some countries with Islamic "heads" that do terrible, terrible things to their citizens, however there are plenty of countries that are "Christian" that do terrible terrible things to their citizens (some African countries come immediately to mind). The reality is that in the third world, people are often treated extremely poorly by their "leaders" whether they be a Christian Nation, Islamic nation or other. ISIS in all reality has very little to do with Islam, and mostly to do with power and hate. They just use a couple things in Islam (heaven,Jihad) etc to convince the poor/vunerable/desperate/angry to join their movements. Basically blaming Islam for ISIS is like blaming Christianity for the KKK and Nazi movement.
  13. Well to be fair, the USA and our pointless Iraq war is a HUGE reason why ISIS was formed and came into power, at the same time letting the Saudi's support terrorists with immunity. That's what happens when you completely destabilize an entire region.
  14. Actually looks like they optioned him back to AAA on the 6th, so he might still be down there by next week.
  15. Zunino won't be with Tacoma next week, he will be with the Mariners.
  16. Also, Marte is a heck of a little short stop and is still young, I have a feeling the Mariners will give him some more rope at SS this year. Plus, he is their short stop of the future as well, which sort of negates the "value" that Nunez has in having team control. That doesn't mean the Mariners wouldn't take Nunez, it just means they won't give up a whole lot for him.
  17. The Mariners would have to be offered quite a bit to give up on Zunino, Nunez is not "quite a bit", the Twins would probably have to toss in a guy like Kepler at the very least or another top 5 prospect in the system as well. Zunino is young, already has 25+ HR power and it appears he has put it togther so far in 2016 (.891 OPS in AAA) 2 HR in 2 games in MLB. I would glady give up Kepler+Nunez for Zunino, but it may not be enough for him anyways. The Twins aren't getting Zunino.
  18. My favorite Jepsen moment is when we traded a pretty damn good prospect for him, then the Rays ended up getting him back for free about a year later (After we overpaid him by too much) for the minimum.
  19. Dieng is a perfect trade candidate at this stage:
  20. I think you guys missed the joke...
  21. I think you misunderstood what I meant. Guys like Nolasco, Plouffe, Suzuki, Grossman and Park are the only ones who I would "trade for anything I could get" IMO none of those guys are a factor for this team after 2016, Plouffe will be gone one way or another with Sano taking over 3B, Nolasco is just terrible, Suzuki is a FA after this year, Grossman is a decent 4th OF, but no real need for him moving forward. Park is a DH on a team with plenty of DH options, I would prefer keeping that spot open for Vargas or whoever. (Though I could understand if some don't want to trade Park for "anything" at this point) Good Santana, Dozier, Nunez, Abad, etc would need to net something better than that of course.
  22. Gave the game a try, living in NYC means there is like a million "locations" and gyms within a few minutes walk, tried to "battle" at a gym and got my ass kicked (in the game) This game is weird.
  23. I saw a few episodes of the Good Wife and Suits, both were pretty decent shows, Burn Notice (Bruce Campbell!!!!!!111!!) wasn't bad as well.
  24. Overdue, but well done MLB!
  25. If I was in charge, I would have them win about 55 games in the 2nd half, then win the world series. Netting myself a cool $225,000 off of $55 worth of "Twins World series" bets. Anything short of that I trade: Plouffe, Nolasco, Suzuki, Grossman and Park for absolutely anything I can get. I'd heavily shop Santana and Abad as well (and take anything decent in return) Dozier? Shop him, but only trade if you get back something really good. Nunez is starting to grow on me a bit, maybe keep him around and see if he can keep it up? (or be a replacement for Dozier if trade until someone else steps up) Shop Rosario as well and try to target some good young SP or a catcher in return. (I like Eddie, however the Twins should deal from a position of strength here, Rosario has the potential to be a solid CF for a team, having him play corner OF is a bit of a waste IMO) Call up all the youngsters, have them play/get at bats/innings as much as possible. Rotate guys in and out if need be. Polanco, Vargas, Rosario, Murphy, Berrios, Duffey, May, Meyer, Chargois, and about 30 other RP should be getting plenty of action.
