  1. Especially with a series on the line, NTM the Indians are in first place, you shouldn't be rolling out a C squad lineup against them 3 days after the break!
  2. Speaking of bad decisions, why on earth were Sano, Buxton and Mauer all out of the lineup yesterday? The freaking all star break literally just ended, is it that hard to have those guys play 3 days in a row? Mauer sort of makes sense since he is older, but Sano and Buxton should be playing every day!
  3. Kelly at least has a baseball (on field) background.
  4. Another question: do the Pohlads know how to use the Internet? Who reads "media guides" these days anyways?
  5. I'm convinced the Pohlads are just clueless owners, and that Dave St Peter has basically conned his way into "leading" this search. Unreal. I'd prefer Trump by and run the team at this stage.
  6. Also Dave St Peter is the worst choice for "leading" the new GM
  7. One step forward, three steps back. No other org in sports would insist a manager on a 100 loss team stick around no matter what. Just sell the team for Petes sake!
  8. Santana is an overpaid #3, Gibson is a #4 who isn't that young any more. Those are the exact guys you need to be trading.
  9. The Twins should hire the new GM ASAP. (Ng!!!!) That would allow whoever it is to spend the rest of 2016 to get caught up to speed with the current roster, farm system and personal. That way, by the time the off-season comes around he or she will be 100% fully up to speed. The only thing is: I wouldn't want the new GM to handle the trade deadline for obvious reasons, ditto with any major cuts/pick ups the rest of the season, which is why you keep Antony around for the rest of the year. (He to will land on his feet somewhere)
  10. Honestly, its about time. Better late than never, Ryan clearly never should have come back the first time. Unfortunately these disastrous last 5 seasons have tarnished an otherwise solid career as a GM. I suspect Ryan will be fine though, while he may not get another GM role, I am guessing there would be plenty of other positions offered to him (if he even wants to work) Anyways, this is some of the best organizational news to happen in a very, very long time. Hopefully they clean house completely when it's all said and done and bring in a new regime.
  11. Now that Ryan is out, and Antony likely is as well (reading between the lines, timing etc), its time to start looking for a new GM and the future. It's going to be hard to get any of the "elite" current GM's to come to Minnesota, and none of the re-treads interest me in the least, which is why Kim Ng could be the perfect hire for this team. Out with the old, in with the new. Go Twins!
  12. I think a LOT of this has to do with the following two things that have come up in the last couple weeks: 1. Sano has proven to be a damn fine 3rd baseman. 2. Park has proven to be a bust (so far) Moving Sano to RF ultimately sealed Ryan's fate.
  13. Yeah, it's never ideal, but Ryan was the oldest GM in the game...sort of one of those "forced retirement" type of deals.
  14. To be fair, Antony has never gotten a chance to call the shots, he deserves his chance, the next 3 months are a good audition period for him to "earn" consideration for the full time role. Ideally he makes some aggressive trades (Sano, Buxton, Berrios untouchable) everyone else? Fair game.
  15. Long overdue. St Peter hopefully is next. But the best news of the season by far, let's see what Antony can do at the deadline, if he fails? bye bye to him as well.
  16. I have my doubts that Nunez can keep up his Ben Zobrist impression, however since he isn't a FA, the Twins should make sure to get good value in return, if you can't trade him now, try to move him in the offseason.
  17. I like Kurt, but this team isn't competing anytime soon. He likely won't be worth keeping around til 2018/2019. He needs to be traded now.
  18. Well said.
  19. Clearly we won't agree (along with some others on this thread), so we will agree to disagree on that. If you think millions of Muslims are actively involved in these sort of extremism that ISIS is involved in, I don't know what I or others can do to swing you to the other side (likewise, I doubt anything you can say will swing us)
  20. Listen, this "do some reading on it" trope is extremely inflammatory. It's pretty clear that most of us in this thread have "read" plenty and know a decent amount of what is going on (even if we don't agree with each other). So knock it off, this Minnesota passive aggressiveness when someone disgagrees with you (or anyone) not just you etc has no place in this discussion. IMO It has little to do with left vs right, good lord. Not everything worldwide is a democrat vs republican American issue. Millions do not actively cause these issues, millions live in countries that have dictators or governments that do these actions etc, but that doesn't mean its citizens actively do those practices that hurt/maim/rape and kill innocent people. That's akin to saying "10s of millions" of Americans are active in the deportation of all Mexicans, Muslims, hate gay marriage and are against women's rights just because they "vote" trump or something. Again it comes down to corrupt leaders/governments who take advantage of the uneducated and poor in those specific middle eastern countries.
  21. Millions who do inhumane pratices directly and actively? No, sorry that simply isn't true, and imo is a dangerous road to go down. Nobody is denying there are issues with the extremists and some of the governments and leaders that allow it, but to say millions are involved or even directly supporting ISIS in some way is just wrong.
  22. I think Zunino has 30 HR a season power, he already has 40 HR in 900 some odd major league at bats, and is only 25 years old (power won't hit its peak for another 2-5 years) He also has 17 HR in 76 games in AAA this year. So while Zunino may never reach his potential, it isn't out of the realm saying he could someday be a 30 HR a year guy in the majors. Nobody anywhere would seriously imply that Kepler can hit 50 HR a year. (That's not a knock on him, just the reality) The only 50 HR guys in the twins system now are Sano and maybe Walker (if he figures it out) 80 power guys are very rare. 30 HR guys, not so much.
  23. High upside pitcher (Change of scenery candidate) with 3 more years of team control, plus you get a couple prospects along with him in this scenario. You move Suzuki (who is a FA), sell high on Nunez, and save $13 mil a year by trading Santana. Most importantly you open up roster spots for the rest of 2016 to see what you "have" The money saved on Santana can allow them to fill in additional holes heading into 2017.
  24. You call that a coup?!?!?
  25. No, just no. Nearly every war in the history of man had nothing to do with survival (at least on the offensive side of things) and had to do with power, land, money, or women.
