  1. Mike, kind of agree, but he did just get lit up in last start at AAA. Now the flip side is has been okay last couple of big club starts. Some folks reference our AAA hitters and does it translate to big club due to quality of pitchers at AAA... does it not say something about AAA starters if they get crushed? Reason I pose the question is do we believe Varland jus thad a bad day or just isn't a good starter option. I don't know good answer, but on paper stats don't look great.
  2. Don't need to trade for an aging lefty in the pen and give up pieces: Welcome back to the show Funderburk
  3. Long season, but brutal loss last night. The throw by Lewis was not good. Tried to make up for by swinging at curve low away on 1st pitch for a week ground out. Kepler getting blown away on 89 Fatballs down the middle and Correa who has been on a heater replicating Lewis at bat with soft fly to left. Now the flip side, someone goes deep and Twins win, we celebrate, I get it. Fundamental baseball cost us the game in extra's. Plain and simple Win today, win the series and start another streak.
  4. I have lived in "da Burgh" for the last 31 years and for someone who lives here, your write-up was fantastic. Pittsburgh is a very proud city for many of their neighborhoods that tie it back to nationalities. Lawrenceville home away from home for your trip, definitely was a home run choice, well done. Strip district Primanti's would be the spot to get that authentic yinzer bartender/waitress all in one experience. Order your sandwich and an IC Light, but don't dare tell them to take anything off the sandwich! Rookie mistake my very first time there back in '94 with my future father-in-law on a trip to the strip for his monthly saturday morning fresh food groceries run. Glad you got to experience the city, although the outcome of the first two games didn't add to any joy for the Twins fans. Take care
  5. Mike I agree, just wondering when we talk about trade value assets and log jam of players, would we not think about those two? I don't have a strong position one way or the other. I like what both can bring to the table and the proverbial "sophomore slump" caught them both early in the season. Julien worked hard on defense at 2nd but does it stick. Wallner if given a chance sooner than later I hope, could be the next one to man the OF for long time. Or do we move them and look at our younger assets that people say are better prospects, which on paper maybe but who knows. We give FO a bunch of grief, but very tough job in my opinion to get them right every time.
  6. Let's look at it another way, which I'm not sold one way or the other, but do we see Wallner as the long term solution in a corner outfield role? Will Kepler be retained on a "potential" team friendly deal to keep him a twin for life? If so, is Wallner redundant is his best position is RF? Would his AAA reclamation warrant a package deal with a high end prospect or two to go after a top end starter for the rotation? Wallner had a few moments last year but nothing this year. Same could be said for Julien if we package Wallner with him and a prospect or two. Do either of them really fit our long term plans?
  7. Take care of business. Score early and often and have a great day!
  8. When MLB Hitters get to Tee Off on Minor Leaguers Batting Practice today you score 17. Maybe, just maybe some these guys will continue to wake up and keep it rolling over the weekend
  9. down a quick 1-0 on stolen base, poor throw error on Vazquez resulting in error and runner to 3rd, sac fly. Yeah Twins
  10. I like them compared to some really bad designs: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39776958/tracking-mlb-city-connect-jerseys-uniforms
  11. will be at the ballgame tonight as I live in Pgh... looking forward to seeing how they rebound from NY series
  12. Waiting to see if Hans wants to give Kudos to Vazquez for his pitch calling sequences, especially since 2 strike hanging curve to Stanton was blasted into the night.
  13. TBS National Game of the Week broadcast may help you tonight. 5th time the Yankees will be in through June of this year. TBS must be the home away from home broadcast partner
  14. Twins have played the 8th toughest schedule to date while Cleveland has played the 29th easiest schedule to date. Now with about 100 games left or so, Twins will have the 24th easiest route vs Cleveland having the 8th. Strength of schedule will impact the outcomes for sure. https://powerrankingsguru.com/mlb/strength-of-schedule.php Another website view shows this for remainder: With all this being said, I still like our chances to finish in a playoff berth and may very well win the division. Cleveland has been very good and maybe they can hold serve. August and September could be a blast if Twins stay healthy can take series after series.
  15. So now we blame catchers not named Vazquez for pitch calling vs the execution of the pitches by said pitcher.
  16. We are in the "proverbial" drivers seat as of today: If playoffs started today, the narrative of worst division in baseball AL Central doesn't look awful: Granted long season to go, I like our chances with 106 game to go
  17. When will the Sands experiment end? No reason Duran should have to come into this game except Sands said otherwise
  18. Melissa McCarthy as she can be funny in movies and thus this lineup is a joke but not funny
  19. But Chief it was written as a booming 2-strike double! How dare we question the MLB scorekeeping (sarcasm at my best). I agree an ERROR all the way and our OF play is quite bad, bad news bear bad
  20. will be at the Guardians Game Saturday night to see the Twins battle in Cleveland. Daughter graduates college on Sunday. Good 2 for 1 trip
  21. AB's are somewhat deceiving in talking workload. Position in lineup, inning to inning turnover of the lineup (is the team a good hitting team and scoring a bunch of runs). I would rather look at games played, position played etc. vs strictly AB's. Work load for some guys is something to pay attention but I don't believe we should be concerned at moments time. Ride your best players until the need a day off and if so, schedule one knowing you may have a travel day next day as well.
  22. Rolling out Margot in 5 hole batting .171, Farmer in 7 hole batting .147 and Vazquez in 8 hole at .182 isn't quite the murderers row we are going with vs Yankees in game of series. Ouch, pretty putrid. The pinch hitting Lefties will start getting ready in the 4th in I guess
