  1. Safer bets, hitting-wise, to be sure. Not sure I’d want Rooker or Rosario playing OF, maybe not even Wade.
  2. It seems like you could have written this article about half the position players on the roster…just swap the names out.
  3. Is it legal to put Buxton on the IL until he’s well enough to play CF? I’m sure Julien and Wallner would be capable fill-ins at DH.
  4. Maybe next year if/when Gallo and Kepler are both gone and Kiriloff is playing more OF. I like the actual 3rd catcher angle, too, instead of having an emergency catcher only.
  5. Maybe he’s just not better than anyone currently on the roster. If he continues to hit at AAA, then he’ll be an injury replacement at some point this summer. Use his option year and make a decision in ‘24 based on the roster then. No reason to rush.
  6. He peaked in ‘19, and had 2 more adequate seasons. Last year and this year has been a struggle at the plate but he seems fine in the field. I’m sure he will serve some team very well as a 4th OF, and I’m also sure I’ll watch Wallner misplay something next year in RF and think to myself “Kepler would have caught that.”
  7. I would bet if we sorted the team by salary and showed everyone’s WAR/bWAR/fWAR (your choice), some of us would require a hug/bourbon/therapy (again, your choice).
  8. Here’s a question. Would you rather see Byron for 80 games in CF or 140 games at DH? Maybe the Twins made their choice this year to try out their their preference - and why they’ve assembled a cast of a half dozen guys who can legitimately start in the outfield. Batting and baserunning carry their own risks as well. As a fan, I would love to see the team putting him in CF just once a week to give Taylor a break. Make the playoffs, and then maybe, just maybe, remind us all of what we’ve been missing.
  9. Uhhhh…wow Cody. When you’re right, you’re right. Got any thoughts on the stock market?
  10. Larnach’s OPS is 55 points higher than Correa’s. Neither of those items bother me. It’s early. We’re not winning or losing the division today or tomorrow. I’m here to relax and enjoy our pitching staff. The hitting will be around soon enough.
  11. Question for the team: is it just me, or did Miranda not play much 3B in ST? I know he was hurt some early on, but it seemed like he was playing more at 1B. Just wondering if I should be surprised if Farmer starts out as our primary hot corner man.
  12. We’re breaking camp without the right side of the infield, and sending down one of our 5 best starters. Yes, we have depth with a bunch of guys I’ve never seen play, so right now they’re just ok to good numbers on a page. I would have kept Ober and put Maeda in the pen to start out. We know what Sands is now, and I don’t need further proof. In related news, I’m not in charge. So let’s just play ball and watch the adjustments unfold.
  13. So I was liking the Twins chances, and then you tell me the Borg is in our division. Thanks Matt. Time to modify the phasers. Or bring Julien north. One of those.
  14. Thanks John. It keeps snowing here, so you’re in a good spot. With only 2 days off in April, I don’t hate the idea of starting with a 6 man rotation. For me, it’s more important as to who is available in September than who’s starting in April. Maeda may still have something in the tank during a playoff run if we’re not asking him to make 10 starts in the first couple of months.
  15. Thanks Nick. This story made me feel like a Vikings fan, which I am also. Ugh. Maybe I’ll just go back to bed.
  16. It seems like the organization had its fill of running overmatched youngsters out on the field last year when the injury train started rolling. Lots of quality depth and several top tier prospects on the 40 man now…we’ll see if it translates to wins.
  17. Not really excited about any of these guys. If you were going to get another lefty-hitting OF, I would have preferred Bellinger. $6m more, but plays CF well. I’m afraid we might be done. Maybe Fulmer or another veteran reliever. Maybe we’re hoping to get 60 starts out of Mahle and Gray, I dunno. Perhaps someone on the TD staff would like to take up the banner and write about “The best possible outcome for 2023” and give me something to hope and dream about during the holidays…
  18. Fixing the link, not the sparkly dress. Eww.
  19. Is this the bridge to Brooks Lee at SS? Sure seems like it. If so, still looking for an impact bat. A right handed-hitting 1B? How about an OF that can play center?
  20. What percentage of the Twins fan base upgrades their swag when there is a design change? Not sure who they’re marketing to. Want to sell more jerseys? Win a playoff game.
  21. I appreciate the fact that shortstop is a demanding position, and surely should be the centerpiece of a competitive team. However, I’m looking at box scores and stats of starting shortstops for the remaining 4 teams, and all I see is competent performers, not game-altering talents: Jeremy Peña IKF Bryson Scott Ha-Seong Kim Not exactly Murderer’s Row. I leave it to the good care of you and the other smart folks at Twins Daily to tell me if this year is a major exception, or if we’re all just perhaps overcooking the importance of shortstops.
  22. In addition to SS and backup catcher, we need to think about a primary CF. Asking Buxton to play more than 60 games in the field seems like a reach. We have a few guys who “can” play CF, but do we have anyone who we would want to roll with for 100 games?
