    I would think it will be whatever is agreed to by MLB and the Players Association. They’re neither the NFL nor the NHL, so I wouldn’t get too antsy about applying those cases to this one. By the way, if there is a floor in the agreement some teams (including, perhaps, the Twins) may try to meet it by signing current players to extensions, wouldn’t they?

    No, we always have to make assumptions. That’s the basis of any rational argument. The point is being able to recognize (and be able to examine) what are assumptions and what are conclusions. And then recognizing that the conclusions are only as good as the assumptions. Right? There’s this gizmo I learned studying formal logic with many names (I learned it as the ‘Munchhausen trilemma’) that posits all rational arguments must rely on feet of sand. I kinda like it. It’s an assumption, of course. Anyway, I have no clue as to what Pohlad, Falvey, and Zoll might have discussed in private, so I draw no conclusions. And continue to mourn Dolly.

    Reading this thread one thing jumps out at me: asserting something as true does not make it true. It doesn’t make it false, either. Just an unproved assumption. Don’t confuse the two. Lots of red herrings have begun this way. This site is full of them.
