  1. Rocco's comments rarely are pointed. Today, while he threw no individual under the bus, his remarks were pointed. He's not a fire and brimstone manager, so one can smirk over his use of the word "disjointed," but there was depth to his meaning. How that translates to better performance, I can't say; this roster has its limitations.
  2. I don't know how well he tracks the ball when in the outfield - on the popup today it wasn't clear that he did, particularly on the initial jump. But in addition to tracking, you want your CF above all to be both decisive and correct*, and on that play he slowed up then sped up again, and that's going to cost now and then. He's only got 13 complete games of experience in CF so I wouldn't go so far as to say he can't play it. If he finds himself playing games again for St Paul, that would be a good place to hone the skills in center. * Jake Cave for example tended to be decisive but incorrect at times, which is probably worse than the other way around.
  3. That would be poor parenting. "Come here," was for that one time I did something bad.
  4. Get tickled after she caught us, usually.
  5. My brother used to laugh about this song with me simply because our mother always used to chase us saying "I'm gonna gitcha gitcha gitcha gitcha gitcha."
  6. I missed the Blondie reference the first time.
  7. b-r.com is usually pretty good about accent marks - look up José Berríos or Miguel Sanó for instance - and they show just a regular capital E for our newest Eddie.
  8. Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way. -- Floyd, Pink
  9. For whatever little it's worth, somewhere I read that back in the 19th century, pink and blue were the reverse of what they are now for infants and so forth. Things change, time flies.
  10. With Julien on base ahead of him, for good measure. Vindication would be sweet. And if this comes to pass, you and I called it.
  11. Well, we do, and his name is Taylor and he's not playing today. Not that I want MAT's bat in the lineup, but not starting him today cost two runs.
  12. Yeah, with two outs, they might want to come in a little, exactly for this kind of situation when the know the runner on first is off with the crack of the bat.
  13. I wasn't thinking of our DH, but of someone else who sits on the bench today.
  14. That might have been the left fielder's ball, but Castro pulled up uncertainly. before vainly speeding up again Perhaps a slight faster, more confident, more experienced CFer would have decided to relieve the LFer of the responsibility. Dunno.
  15. This is threatening to become remembered as The Edouard Julien Game.
  16. I did that once in Little League. Burning shame*. I can't believe a guy with that experience could have such a simple explanation be all there is. * My entire career in Little League could be described with those words.
