  1. Ah, well, that would be in name only, since he never really signed.
  2. Benjamin Thomas Rortvedt was born in Madison, Wisconsin and grew up 20 minutes southwest of the state capitol building in a town called Verona. View full player

  4. The ultimate Short Reliever! He was our Righty No Out Guy.
  5. ... for Cash. I guess Kevin got tired of managing in a small market.
  6. "Three Twins Players Whose Last Names Start With J, Period" Much more compelling headline if you ask me.
  7. Well, that was a waste of confetti. What was your favorite Jesse Chavez moment? "Twins Daily: Putting The Bull in Bullpen Since 2012."™ (I keed, I keed. Mistakes happen.)
  8. The coach will call it Pitch To Contact, the fans will call it Nibbling, and careers will be blown as batters tee off on "mistake pitches" that catch a little too much of the strike zone at 84 MPH.
  9. First, this is the kind of thing that without data it's really hard to make sweeping generalizations. Second, there's a good chance that cause-and-effect are intertwingled - maybe when you see clubs "messing" with routine it's precisely for the guys who are already perceived as being at risk for injury. I remain convinced that injury proneness is an area of active research by clubs' analytics departments, and their methods and results are closely guarded secrets.
  10. Did they have DeSclafani winning the Cy? 😀
  11. The wonderful 2022 Twins bullpen tied for 15th in the majors in ERA. The horrible awful no-good bad 2023 Twins bullpen was all alone at #15 in ERA. (The respective rankings of starter ERA were #20 and #2. Maybe that had a tiny bit more effect on Rocco's decision making process, than the bullpen?)
  12. 6-5 win. Had 'em all the way!
  13. Please tune in more often, and keep up the good work!
  14. He's trying some new things. / .... that apparently aren't working
  15. Third option, do the Twins offer him that 50-75M contract?
  16. The 2023 Twins were tied for third in all the majors in innings per start. When Rocco has the horses, he lets them run.
  17. Shorten the entire pre-season itself? Or just replace a week's worth of games with continued drills in early March?
  18. The bats started slow last year and got slower, right up to the mid-season mark when suddenly it was like them breaking out big grins and saying to us "what were you worried about, huh?" So one can read those tea leaves either way one wants. The weak batting results in spring training lead me to expect another slow start, which will be hard to take after getting our hopes up like that. Maybe they think they can "work on some new things, give us time" then turn it on at will. I used to have cars like that, back in the days of carburetors and the setting of chokes; I arrived at work late some mornings as a result, though the engine ran fine once it was started.
  19. Also a good setup for any Cardi B jokes you may have on hand.
  20. The FO heard the voice of the fans and moved on from a strikeout machine.
  21. Looking forward to variations on this joke not being in play, once the regular season starts.
