  1. Last year we really capitalized on CLE early problems, hopefully this year we can again start strong & fight off CLE for the title. Things are shaping up nicely
  2. Thank you, Nick for giving us some baseball excitement while we have been put on hold! I`d go w/ the piggy back idea & I`d reward Odo over Blake because he`s earned it over the years & if Odo has been consistent I most definitely would. Also I`m happy that Romero has been contributing very nicely & that NYY & HOU are out! I wouldn`t put too much stress on yourself, even though it`d be nice to defend our title, you still got us in the Play-offs
  3. I think it really hurts also looking at Pineda waiting even longer. But IMO it will hurt even more if we don`t have a season.
  4. I assume Big Mike will not come back that quickly. Come around PS, I see him piggy backing at best or BP. Especially if his suspension isn`t discounted
  5. The stock of all our young DHers has just up especially if remains permanent! Let`s see what happens
  6. I too, didn`t expect much w/ this free for all. I didn`t expect anyone worth anything to sign. Even a college senior could go back for another year of eligibility. We got 2 big college pitchers. Stankiewicz shows the most promise, Sweany is a reliever, do they ever work out? Hope they both turn out.
  7. Agree totally w/ you. Also hope that MLB would deal kindly w/ Pineda. That they would allow him to play preseason games to help him get ready for the season no matter how many games they choose to penalize him
  8. Both sides are polarized. The richest owners against the richest players. Why not the middle negotiate & both ends sacrifice a little for the good of the game from the beginning also Governors could help a lot
  9. I`ve been on board on what the FO has been doing. The trading to get pitching prospects that was mentioned came from teams that were competing for the PS for valuable MLB pieces that we had not from our farm system. Yes we traded a potential low level bat (Lewis) to get a temporary BP fix (Romo) but the resistance of FO to resolve this log jam of bat 1st players & go for a high potential arm, I haven`t seen. The highest prospect we traded was not of bat 1st category but our pitching which made me question their general trading strategy We can`t compete w/ NY to buy arms. Also many teams like WAS & HOU compete only when they go out & deplete their farm system to obtain a high profile arm & scrape the bottom when they don`t. I`d rather that we copy CLE & LA where they go out develop young arms & have a constant flow of top arms & sell off the excess to obtain the positions where they are weak. That way they are always competing. I can see that maybe Sabato was probably the best player available for our 1st round. But was disappointed that (even though we didn`t have many good draft selections) out of the great pool of college arms that we didn`t land one. After the 1st round I wasn`t up on what our options of college arms were so I can not comment. Hopefully they can find a gem in the open prospect market or the international draft. Also I`d like to say IMO that high potential arm is more valuable than a high potential big bat, no glove player
  10. I`d stay w/ your original plan. We don`t have the rotation that are work horses except Berrios. Now Berrios needs to be reined back some so he`d be rested & ready for the PS. We need a lot of arms to step up & relieve our rotation, too bad Hill hadn`t worked out as planned. Things are so tight, we are not only in danger of losing out of the division title but also PS all together. Also surprised that NYY & HOU not doing as well as expected. Hope neither make it to the PS
  11. I share your sadness about the trade that sent him away, what we gave up & his early departure from the game.. When we needed his offense & defense contributions & his willingness to pass that CF torch to the next rookie. He was a 1st class player on & off the field. God bless you Denard, we will always remember you as a Twin
  12. If Falvey and pitching coach Wes Johnson can develop consistent starting pitching, the Twins will be in elite shape.(Nash) W/ Wes Johnson there is no doubt that he`ll squeeze out the best w/ what he has & produce some bottom (3-5) starting pitching. But shouldn`t we raise our sights a little higher? Aces are a premium, shouldn`t we shoot for that? I know pitching draft prospects are high risk but college is a better risk that HS. W/ this large pool of potential college arms, the risk is smaller & is worth taking that risk IMO. w/ that said I still believe we doing a better job drafting than before
  13. I tend to agree w/ you about being kind of disappointed w/ the draft, hoping to pick up a college arm within a great pool. I guess my focus is different than the Twins FO. They like to stress big bats, where I`d like to focus on arms. Hoping to become more like CLE & LA to become an ace factory that cranks them out on a regular basis. Hitting is important but so is defense. But still hope the best for our new Twins
  14. I wish Sabato all the luck in the world & I believe he`ll achieve the vast majority of his expectations. My choice was Carmen Mlodzinski, South Carolina. I saw he was chosen 31st by the Bucs, that strengthen my choice since PIT has a great eye on past pitching talent but sadly not able to develop it.
  15. I was pleasantly surprised that Miami pick Max Meyer (Gopher) 3rd. I believe in earliest mock draft this off season, he was ranked 25th & was hoping that Twins had a shot but shortly afterwards his stock quickly sky-rocketed. Hope Sabato works out but was a little disappointed because Twins have a glut of strong bats but no glove. The argument is that they can be good trade bait. But the hole in that argument is the only trade we did this year, we used our highest, MLB ready, impact pitching prospect (where we have a great need) & continue to horde our strong bats, no glove prospects. Maybe we can`t expect much w/ a 27th pick but it seems to me that MN is insecure on drafting high prospect pitchers
  16. My hope also is for one of the many top college pitching prospect. Carmen Mlodzinski, South Carolina could be a good one as Andrew mentioned. I`d liked to be surprised by some potential phenomenal starting pitcher draft prospect that had been over looked
  17. The delay really complicated things. The season where we have our greatest offensive potential will probably have very little fanfare if we have a season at all. We have lost the fair weather fans long time ago, the more serious fans will be less serious & grow less serious as time goes by & more political it becomes. Meaning less games watched, less baseball items bought, less tv packages bought & less baseball journalistic subscription bought & followed
  18. I love baseball, if I were young enough & able to play in the Majors right now, I`d want to have the right to play back in early May & even if I wasn`t good enough I`d still love to have the right to go & see as many games as I could afford (being low - non risk). If politics would have focused on protecting high risk persons not dictating to healthy persons that they have no rights to play ball or go to games. Back in early May after the most danger had past, spring training should have resumed & games should have started (of course w/ proper precautions). Everyone would be happy, owners can make $, players can play & make $, fans can watch & baseball journalists can go back to commenting baseball. But because politicians can`t resist infecting the public with their narratives in hopes to gain leverage no matter who suffers. Players have much greater risk of dying from drugs, alcohol, suicide than covid 19 these dangers plus effects of domestic abuse will multiply due to the shut down . Longer the delay in baseball more complicated things will get as we see w/ owner/ players negotiations while baseball becomes sicker & sicker. The love of baseball can heal & unite us if we let it!
  19. I agree Rich Hill is a given, stating again he should`ve been used as a compliment to Taylor Rodgers through out the season & not starting him too soon until he`s 100% ready which would be now when we are in desperate need for impact starting pitching. The doubt for me is who is the 2nd, to help me better choose is to know how well are Cave, Booker & Gonzalaz doing? It seems to me even w/o Rosario we are still deep at that position. Even though Kiriloff is more MLB ready, Lewis would be more needed up the middle to help support Buxton plus available help out at 2nd, 3rd or SS if needed.
  20. Thank you so much for expressing so well what I believe & know. We need baseball to unite us & lift our spirits. It`s frustrating to see those who we look to, not looking for facts & true solutions, which are content w/ floundering & chaos. Who place solely their interests ahead the country
  21. It takes a rare breed to be an ump, which you`ve portrayed perfectly. A thick hide is definitely required
  22. The hitting seems very unrealistic, that`s what`s holding us back as far as winning but the relief & starting pitching is pretty much what I expected
  23. Both are positioning themselves & both are to blame. Like what was said, we needed them to bypass all that BS to speed things up not play games. I believe the owners gave a reasonable offer & expressed a concern about not having fans. The players IMO should`ve countered w/ a more realistic offer.
  24. I too share sadness over the possibility of losing valuable baseball communities due to this fiasco. We need more positive influences not less in communities to fight the breakdown of our society
