  1. We seem to do better than average as far as late round drafts go & more than our share of early round flops. Dobnak wasn`t even drafted, hopefully he`ll continue to be a success story. There is too many intangible factors, which the Twins do a fantastic job in evaluating. Factors like character, teachable, responsible & drive, while many highly talented kids lack the intangibles plus lazy
  2. Thanks for this article it gives us something to look forward to. Milwaukee surprises me but I understand your logic. Bucs now w/ new coaching could surprise people even though they traded more key pieces
  3. I didn`t mean to be so mystical, I was kinda kidding. Insight would probably be a better word. I was fascinated by 2 baseball FO movies that came out about the same time , "Money Ball" w/ Brad Pitt & "Trouble w/ the Curve" w/ Clint Eastwood. I enjoyed both of them but they seemed to contradict each other, Money Ball, that favored analytical data was against gut feeling & Trouble w/ the Curve that favored gut feeling was against analytical data. I tend to believe analytical data but there are a lot of intangible variables that need to be considered especially when drafting. Many talented high prospect never pan out even though they look good on paper. Yes there are injuries but there other reasons that are intangible like character, being teachable & attitude. We need both even though bias & favoritism can sometimes be misconstrued as being gut feeling
  4. I don`t get it either. I`d still prefer to start sooner in like AZ & eventually liberate home games as states allow. Regions I believe teams should be liberated approximately the same time & have some attendance. I disagree that all teams should have to wait for the few that`ll be delayed
  5. I like the fact that we`ll be facing more NL central teams than AL eastern teams & that there won`t be a restructuring of leagues.
  6. Totally agree, hopefully our scouting will pay off where we can find some gems & try to sell them on our system. Twins: $4,528,600 ($5,448,200) bonus pool, isn`t a lot but at $20K a pop that can land us quite a few prospects if they are willing to sign for that. About the minor leagues, is it for sure that there won`t be any?
  7. Who calls the shift, is it Polanco? as normally the SS controls the infield. Or is it a coach? The determination of a shift should be changed. Donaldson`s experience & ability should help & coordination should be worked out
  8. Twins had only a 4 pitcher rotation in `65 so they had a 3 man rotation when Pasqual was out? They were work horses back then. They should have gotten another starter. WS aren`t always to the best team. It`s to the hot team at the time
  9. I believe his future will be bright. I was expecting a great 2019 season from him because of his 2018 was constantly projecting upwards. He`s a solid adult & not a kid so I expect he hasn`t plateaued yet not saying he won`t have a temporary slump. Catching is addictive, a good catcher likes to be the center of the action & hates to give that up. But like you said it`s a very demanding position & all the good ones to continue needs to transition to another position & expect Garver to do the same. Think of the recent past the confrontation of catcher & runner, how disastrous that was even though that was part of the game. Glad to see that change
  10. I think you are spot on! Of course you could argue like # 1&2 or # 3&4 but that`s just slight variance of a person`s point of view.
  11. Agree also w/ those of you who like AJ, he gave us some good years & some good players in trade which has paid dividends
  12. Agree w/ you as you said it`s not so much Jetter but what he represents the "D..N Yankees" & all the politics behind it. As Minnesotans we don`t "hate" anyone only the system that looks down on us.
  13. Good news! Hope to get in as many games as possible in a condense season. If the weather cooperate better yet!
  14. Yes, I believe there is a gift of second sight (seer). Being able to see when others seem to be blind. But I didn`t know that it was graced upon Twins 3Bs. Go Twins!
  15. Being traded to PIT really hurt Chris Archer if Archer wasn`t traded he would`ve continued to plague the Twins for a few more years
  16. Sano is so strong that after the 1st strike he could shorten his swing & be more selective to cut down his SO.
  17. Depending how intense the season will be, hopefully it will be quite condensed. That way a lot of our MLB ready prospects (Lewis, Kiriloff, Larnach) will have an opportunity to get in some valuable time. Although Kiriloff & Larnach are closer to make that transition, Lewis would be more needed as a mid fielder bench. Although I believe Gordon will improve in AAA, I don`t see him making that transition to the bigs. We have an abundance of MLB pitchers w/ a condense season we could utilize all of them. We have a great need for future aces so our focus should be preparation to that goal, not shoving them in the BP. Hopefully the BP will live up to their recent success where we don`t need them.
  18. IMO the game should determined by the fans not by those who want to push their agenda. Some change is good, I`m open for a electronic ump. I`m open for 3 leagues but how are they equitably determine the ones to be in the WS?
  19. Thank you pointing these injuries out. Just think of Killebrew 100% what impact he could`ve had & Camilo Pasqual 100% facing Sandy Koufax & if Pasqual had won (which he could have) that would have changed history & made that confrontation even more electrifying!
  20. Still hope that MLB would scrap this idea that we have to wait to start MLB until all teams are able to have games in home town stadiums. Longer we wait more complicated & less equitable it will become. The more responsible areas shouldn`t have to be penalized for the lack of discernment of others. Start games in AZ & other states that are open & release the teams as they are safe to have games. Pure & simple & cut the political BS. Also release the fans as the safety can be controlled & condense the schedule as much as possible. I believe if we were infected more at the NFL timetable & not MLB we wouldn`t have having this BS, it`s all political. I could live w/o NBA, NHL & even NFL but it`d be harder for me to live w/o my Twins.
  21. I believe Polanco was played too much last year, along w/ Kepler & Rosario. Adrianca should be played more often to give Polanco a break. I agree Donaldson will relieve much stress from Polanco & Arraez. W/ these 2 factors plus self improvement, IMO Polanco will greatly improve
  22. Thank you! Thought he was older, maybe because he had a long & productive career before he came to the Twins
  23. Big Sexy stole that Cy Young from Johann but no matter. How old was Jim Thome?
  24. Yes, Toronto makes more sense than Atlanta. Of coarse a bad option is better than no baseball but this last option is more political. Areas like NYC which didn`t take the virus serious & the cases exploded which IMO was a big factor in shutting down baseball. These areas will take longer to be ready for MLB, they want to delay baseball for the whole country until they are able to have home games. This plan also draws out the season that MN will have to unfairly play their last games in neutral stadiums taking away home field advantage, so why do more responsible areas like MN be penalized? I think the AZ plan was to appease those who didn`t want any baseball. I still believe it`s still a viable plan to start earlier & finish earlier (to be sure the season would be complete if something flares up when the weather become colder). As some areas would be ready before the July 2 due date so as not over strain AZ. So I hope the AZ plan isn`t totally scraped. AZ plan could be a temporary plan until the teams are liberated by their states
  25. Thanks Matt for giving us an article about current baseball; not uniforms, what players do w/ their free time or etc (I was getting very bored). Getting back to Bauer, I probably don`t like his music or agree w/ everything he says or the way he says it but that`s not important. Giving him the benefit of doubt that maybe he was distracted last year, he`s a great pitcher. Besides that he has a great analytic mind about pitching. Wes Johnson is great but he`s not a god, the Twins have a lot of young pitchers that need their skills honed & some a 3rd pitch. If Bauer can help them, he could be a key to that ace factory I`m dreaming about. I believe he`s motivated to be a Twin.
