  1. My blueprint might be called a youth movement. I like adding Simmons at SS, a FA pitcher like Richards around 5M, Hand at RP, resign Rogers. Then fill in with youth like: Kirilloff, Rooker, Blankenhorn, Waddell, Dobnak, Colina, or 1-2M FAs. Twins have so many players on the verge of MLB can't see investing a lot of money into FAs.
  2. Enjoyed interview, Seth. Twins look like they have quality prospects on the verge of MLB. I really like Rooker, average defense but plus hitter. Like to hear comments on how much interaction players had with Twins coaches, Rooker said he thought he really progressed during that time even though not playing games.
  3. Matt Wallner commented on Seth's interview on how much it was an adjustment playing everyday, compared to college. Being able to get in the right mind set each game. MLB is a grind. Yogi Berra said "Half the game is 90% mental".
  4. Thanks Seth, great to hear from a lifelong Twins fan, hope Matt continues to develop and progress up the Twins system. Sounds like players had great communication with Twins staff when working on their own.
  5. Would be a big improvement for Twins. GCL and low A in Florida, high A Cedar Rapids, AA at Wichita, and AAA St Paul. Are there a direct flights from Wichita to Minneapolis?
  6. Hiring LaRussa was always a train wreck waiting to happen.
  7. Not a fan of signing aging, declining players, If Twins go bargain, maybe just go internal and see what Gordon and Blankenhorn can do until Lewis and/or others are ready. I can see signing one FA and using one internal option for 2 utility infield spots.
  8. Cody is an exciting prospect. Hope he continues to improve and impress. Kind of an underdog, coming from a rural area, low profile college. Like his attitude to attack the batter.
  9. Would like to sign a closer type to share duties with Rogers and possibly Duffy, Alcala. Also an additional RP, bounce back candidate or Clippard type. Already signed 2 projects. Have Wisler, Theilbar, Colina, Stashek, Thorpe, Smeltzer, and may be some other young pitchers to fill out BP. Top 4 plus Wisler and second FA, last 2 from group listed.
  10. Put Kirilloff on opening day roster, service time issue is a travesty. I would not extend him this year, but do it before arbitration like Twins did with Polonco and Kepler. One MLB game not enough to extend. Kirilloff is ready no need to go to AAA. Reports from alternate site say he hit between .400 and .500, hope that means he is a great hitter and not that the pitching was bad.
  11. Hope Twins give Travis a good look in MLB in 2021. In past, seems MLB clubs don't have many rookies on opening day roster, may be different next year with basically a lost MiLB season this year. May make more economic sense for rookies next year instead of veteran FAs at 2-3 times the cost.
  12. What about prospects, could TD have a couple of episodes about SP and RP in Twins organization?
  13. Hard to argue against givens, Colina would be gone if not added. Rortvedt makes sense to me. Hope Twins active in trade market, can see them moving some players presently on 40 man and throwing in a player or two from Seth's consideration list.
  14. I agree with Cody, Twins did well on trade. Escobar was going to be a FA after that season. Twins were bad that season. If they get anything from any of those 3 players at the MLB level, it is a positive trade for the Twins. The other 2 may never make the MLB level, but Duran looks good and could be a long term MLB contributor. Twins knew it was going to take time to get any return from trade.
  15. Nice job again Seth. Interesting Aaron thinking of super utility position, sounds very athletic, fast and possibly ready defensively, but needs bat improve. Handled being released well and sounds like likes Twins organization. Will be watching his progress.
  16. Always seem to be some pitchers that a change of scenery and a different pitching coach can make a big difference. Twins FO always seems to be looking for the right type of pitcher to fit the organization's philosophies. Good luck with the Twins Ian and Brandon.
  17. Great job last night Seth and others. Agree with going for SP with some upside, don't like aging pitchers or too many injury concerns. One thing not discussed was Twins only have Pineda signed for one more year, would be great to find a midrange FA with some upside that could be the #3 pitcher after next year. Wes and the Twins have good eye for pitchers that need a little tweaking to upgrade their performance.
  18. No Kela too much drama, no O Perez too old, no Doolittle aging and injury issues, maybe Walker or Smyly. Price may be right and worth risk.
  19. First, no limits to shift. But, never understood why batter would limit hitting to basically half the field, a fair share of their hard hit balls are foul. Batters need to adjust.
  20. Really enjoyed the interview, Seth, good job. Looks like Matt is a real thinker and works hard at the little things to improve. Excited to see his development in the future. Hope they get a normal season next year. Interesting to hear they shut him down a little early since Twins felt he had pitched enough innings this year even though did not throw in a real game.
  21. Great job again Nick and others. Twins could sign veteran FA to help transition younger players into MLB. But, don't see Twins signing FA for 10 mil.+, money better spent elsewhere.
  22. Did Littel have an injury, elbow? I like Littel, but always wondered if his success was sustainable. Hope he turns it around next year and is successful for Twins, but only see Twins offering him a minor league contract.
  23. If you did this exercise last year, doubt if Maeda or Wisler would have made list of possibilities. I am sure there are a few players the Twins have their eye on that will be released or nontendered in the next couple of months, maybe some trade candidates. Will not be the year Twins sign big time free agent, but should be some bargains in the free agent market given payroll decreases across MLB. Plenty of talk of offensive prospects getting opportunity, but also I look for some young pitchers to get a shot next year, but probably not on roster opening day. Not a fan of signing aging players, especially pitchers, hoping to get one more good year out of them. I would let Cruz, Marwin, Romo, Clippard, Hill go.
  24. Not sure how many of Twins minor league players are rule 5 eligible, but I think some higher prospects will be this year-Kirilloff, Rooker, Balazovic, Colina. Already carried Duran, Chalmers, Gordon, Blankenhorn, Celestino on 40 man last year. May be some difficult decisions coming.
  25. So little info on nonMLB players this year without MiLB, hard to know young pitchers that are close to being ready or ready to play for Twins. But maybe a few that have passed up Littel. I would try to sign him to minor league deal.
