  1. This move is a head scratcher in that this is the first win now move they made all offseason. All of the other moves said this is a transition year. We could have had Bassit for so much ch less
  2. I guess the biggest positive about this trade is that I don’t have to be vested in this season so I probably will not follow them as much this year. This doesn’t feel like a good trade at all.
  3. So we trade a catcher and 200 OPS points to gain a SS and maybe 80 OPS points gain. Why not resign Simmons and keep Garver? We come out ahead this way.
  4. The Twins did resign Minaya today to a minor league deal. So we have that to talk about. but I will say we trade for Bassit and extend him. And sign Pineda at SS we signed several options so look for some other low level signing to compete for SS. And sign an inexpensive OF to compete for LF with other in house options.
  5. Gibson was projected to go top 5 in that draft. There was concern of him needing Tommy John surgery which he did. That is why he fell in the draft. We were ecstatic to get him.
  6. wasnt hrbeck a top prospect? infact the 1980 - 1982 Twins minor league system was full of them.
  7. I remember him hitting a player then Deleon Young got hit in retaliation and went after Jose instead of the opposing pitcher
  8. in being fair, we drafted him at 16 years of age. Being that he made it to the show is beating all reasonable expectations. Though I would have liked to see more production. in terms of more AB, HRs, RBIs and fewer K's. but he can still be a 400 HR hitter with 1000-1200 RBI if he gets after it when all is said and done. I hope he has more years with the Twins after this one.
  9. yay for options. we don't have to move anyone at this time. though over time some will get moved, but who that should be doesn't need to be decided today, Rooker could end up being a monster at bat, and if Sano and Donaldson get traded or their contracts end we may want to have Rooker around unless or until other power options show up or he hits and makes the point moot. I think Sano will break out with 35-40 HRs and an .850+OPS which is fine for a DH / part time 1B. Gordon is what he is at this point. for us Gordon is the last man on the position player side of the roster who can play IF and OF and has speed and gap power. He could be a platoon or get more time on another roster to a degree but he does have value with us.
  10. Sano's bat took off last season after the league cracked down on pitchers. So, I think that solves his biggest problem at the plate. I suspect Sano will have a big year this year. He is primed to have a 40 HR 100 RBI season.
  11. It all started I think in 2002. I don't live in Minnesota and when I visited my sister, my brother in law showed me a Minnesota sports site where I could get info. I forgot what site that was (1500 espn it turns out) but I went on google and found Twinsgeek. It was his second season of blogging. I left his site several times to go back to google to keep looking for the other site and finally gave up and read a few of his articles. I was hooked. I actually went back and read all of season 1 articles too. He only released articles every few days So I needed something to read in between articles being published. I think it was 2003 or 2004 when I started seeing others start up blogging. There was also the time where John was featured in the Star Tribune. when others popped up I started following a few others. Seth Stohs, Nelson and Nelson, Aaron Gleeman, There was another and Batgirl. Those were my staples and I stayed with them. I also went on 2 different forums Dickie Thon and i forgot the other I think it was BYO something and Tail Off. I think that was Brock's thing so he can correct that. But I have been here since the beginning.
  12. I consider not starting the season on time a big FU to the fans. So, I will give them and FU back. I will not spend money in anyway shape or form for at least a season maybe more. (only exception is a Twins World Series Appearance)
  13. They Twins have another option for 2B, SS, 3B. I doubt he was signed to play SS. He could get some games there. It does seem the Twins budget has been cut. We will find out of no other IF get signed. But like this article states he us likely to split time at 2b and 3rd and compete with Gordon for time. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/02/twins-sign-former-top-pick-tim-beckham-to-minors-deal.html
  14. I have decided if the players and owners cancel my games, then I will cancel my ticket buying and going to games for the season. We will see if that gets extended. As a fan I do not care if they are having trouble agreeing how to split up the revenue pie. But I do take issue with them not caring about me the paying customer. I will spend them at a place that does care. This needs to be said by millions of fans and we need to hold them accountable for their greed and lack if fan appreciation. Also I hope every city with a publicly funded stadium sue MLB for non performance. See how much revenue is available for both owners and players after cities take a billion or so after settlements.
  15. I would be happy with Bundy if we got a 4.00 era and anything over 5 innings on average per start with around 30 starts.
  16. On the flip side Sano's season turned around after the MLB crackdown on pitchers using sticky substances which lead me to hope on him this year.
  17. With Bundy a low cost pick up and if the Twins go out and get another low cost pickup like Odorizzi or Pineda or both (sorry can't think of other pitchers off the top of my head) and say we are all good on pitchers then we easily have money for an Story book finish to the offseason.
  18. If the Twins trade for an Odorizzi and then for a Bassit type of pitcher then we would have room in the budget for Story at SS.
  19. Law made reference to Balazovic's size and potential to be a workhorse. Developing a pitcher who is mid rotation or better who can get innings is pretty valuable. I don't kniw if Winder has the durability.
  20. As long as their paycheck clears the bank, the Twins are not failing anyone. Especially someone getting paid 92 to. 100 million.
  21. What if David West worked out? Headlining LHP in Frank Viola trade. I will also go with the closers Burdi and Chargois Matt LeCroy if he made it would we be as upset about losing Ortiz? Nishioka. If he made it would we be more successful in landing Japanese players?
  22. I am fine with raising the ceiling 30 million give or take. but they should make the penalties steeper when someone passes it. Also if we are doing this so the players get a greater percentage of revenue then there should be a floor for any team that receives revenue sharing. I think 80-90 million is more fair in that regards. Using Minnesota as an example we have one of the worst tv contracts in the game. no one wanted to go for the cable channel and the TV stations or radio stations wouldn't up their offers either. so that affects our revenue. plus we have all 4 major sports teams here which affects our revenues too. so the Twins need to look for ways to increase revenue.
  23. I like your idea better. I just think writers suck and have no business deciding anything. That is not their lot in life. They report on what others do....
  24. I think for Torrii ti be a borderline HOF he wouldnneed to have more counting stats. He needed around 800-1000 more AB to be able to hit them. 200-300 hits 40-50 HRs. And 150 RBI. He gets those numbers added to his career totals he probably gets in.
