  1. Two RP, four years ago... I stand corrected. I did not say never, I said historically...
  2. Historically they Twins do not trade for rentals, they look for guys to keep. A left handed hitting OF that is going to be expensive and has not shown to be consistent? I don't see the Twins even considering this...
  3. Stu, I am saddened to see you revert back to your satirical article format. Please return to the form of your last few weeks where your articles were truth disguised as satire. Sincerely, Ed
  4. Not happening. Love Goldy, but you would have to negotiate a contract extension that would probably be an overpay for the downside of his career. AK is cost controlled for a long time. Looking at 2024, if things continue the way they do, you are probably looking at AK as a starting OF with Julien at 1B. I would feel more comfortable with a little more proven experience out there, but that does not seem to be the way the Twins roll (Miranda and Gordon being handed the keys for example).
  5. I think this hits all the talking points. We know all it takes is some crazy team (hello NYM), but 3 yrs sounds about right. The dollar range sounds about right, but it would not surprise me to see an AAV closer to $30. The Twins probably already know if they are close to what Grey's camp is asking for.
  6. My bigger concern through this whole process is that there has not been any public discussion of him going to the IL. So are they telling us that health-wise Buxton can not be "fixed" and this is what he is? Considering the contract he is on, the Twins should be more concerned about the long-game. If he needs surgery, get it done and get him healthy for next year. If this is the new 100% for Buxton, the rest of this decade is going to be very taxing for Twins fans.
  7. It makes me laugh to see these types of stories knowing the the first responses will always be: GALLO and KEPLER. It's like a mantra... They are not the problem. Kepler is your starting OF, but should really be your 8th best player in the lineup. Defense first OF tend to go that route. Gallo was not brought in to carry the offense, he was brought in as insurance for 5 positions and has had to play 4 of them extensively. While we (myself included) were hoping for the rule changes to help these two offensively, it did not come to pass. Instead, they are playing at the level we pretty much expected. Please do complain that Solano, Castro, and Jeffers are your fWAR leaders. All three of these guys were penciled in to be backups. Lewis and Polanco can't stay healthy. Buxton, Miranda, Gordon, Correa, Vazquez, have been HORRIBLE. And you guys still want to complain about Kepler and Gallo? Unless something falls into their lap for cheap, the Twins should really not make any moves right now. No players readily available are demonstrative upgrades unless you want to overpay for a rental or sell the farm. I do not see either happening. Buxton needs to go in the IL until he is 100% healthy. He is doing more harm than good. Add Lewis and Polanco to the playing rotation, hope that the positive trending of Correa and Vazquez sticks. Kiriloff, Julien, Farmer, the rest of that group just need to maintain. That is what needs to happen.
  8. Stop holding us to the standard of actually reading what we are commenting on. That isn't how we do things...
  9. Good cheap young pitching is almost impossible to replace. You can find quality position players much easier. Ober is going to have a long leash. It would not surprise me if the the Twins saw him as untouchable right now.
  10. This does not conform with the TD masses... Stop bringing logic to an emotional argument.
  11. I appreciate the work here Cody, helps to put Sonny's season in perspective. Just a shame that a large enough percentage of the TD mass think the Twins should trade him thinking it will help the team.
  12. Here is the question Twins fans: Asked in all sincerity what would do you think it would take to Ohtani to the Twins? I see two possible package scenarios: 1) Ohtani as a rental (at least 2 top prospects plus a handful middle ground guys) 2) Ohtani agreeing to an extension prior to the trade (would probably be something like 3 top prospects plus Kiriloff and possibly Ober). I want to say zero percent chance the Twins do this, but signing Correa has thrown all of my assumptions out the window.
  13. As is typical of many articles coming from Stu lately, there is sadly more truth than satire.
  14. No problem if they decide to make a relatively low cost move for a guy like Robertson. But the bullpen is nowhere near the top of the priority list for this team right now. Gotta find some offense somewhere.
  15. For the right price (ie not overpaying), I think they should consider: #9 - Robertson. Quality arm, veteran with playoff experience #10 - Pham. Disciplined hitter that could help bring some stability to the order and the OF #25 - Turner. Reliable 3B to help offset the Lewis/Miranda question marks #29 - Hicks. Fits the flamethrower RP mold, would want him to be more than a rental.
  16. I am trying to understand this... The Twins are in playoff contention. You can argue about how strong the team is all you want, but THEY ARE IN PLAYOFF CONTENTION!!!!!!! On what planet would they be considering moving Sonny Grey, the teams best SP and among the top SP in baseball this year? Not only would you be ruining their chances in the playoffs (where SP always dominates), but you would be sending an insanely bad message to the team. For any of you that truly think the Twins should trade Grey right now??? We seriously have to question which team you are rooting for.
  17. As frustrating as it is to see highly touted guys go down with injuries, I wonder about context here... Are the Twins rate and substance of prospect injuries any different than that of other organizations? Are the Twins truly unlucky here, or does it just feel that way because of the higher visibility and attention we give to the Twins minor league system versus other teams. Is this just the cost of doing business?
  18. Sorry Nick, but I think this is part of the perception problem with Kepler. Whose expectations? Yours? Kepler has been fairly consistent in production. You are paying for defense, some power, the occasional hot streak, and consistency, How many OF have the Twins cycled through in the last 7 years? Teams are not going to have 8 all-stars every year. Kepler is not a god, nor is he "holding anybody back". Guys like Kepler are important. He would be a starter or rotation player on just about any other team in the league. Not the best OF on the team, but a necessary piece. IMO, he gets the brunt of the hate when it should be pointed in other directions
