  1. The crazy thing is that he's not even the 8th best player ON HIS TEAM. He ranked EIGHTEENTH on the Twins in WAR according to Fangraphs. I don't care if you aren't that big of a believer in WAR, you can't think it's that off. And if you do, look at the players ahead of him: https://www.fangraphs.com/warleaders.aspx?season=2019&team=8 Do you think he was more valuable then those guys?
  2. We may have had a glut of "SS" prospects but none of them turned out to be a plus defender there. Royce could get better there, but he's not very close to being ready for the majors. If I was in charge, I couldn't stomach another year of Polanco at SS and Arraez at 2B. Arraez doesn't have the traditonal power of a third baseman, but hitting .320+ makes up for that. His arm there isn't ideal, but I think that's probably comes into play less than we think. His range would at least be ok there.
  3. I think infield defense needs to be a huge priority this offseason. But I have a different solution for it. Move Arraez to 3B where he actually had a positive UZR in 130 innings. Move Sano to 1B. Polanco to 2B where he goes from a negative defender to likely a plus defender. And aquire a plus defender at SS. Jose Iglesias on a 1 year deal? A trade? I think think if they did this, the defense would improve immensely. And if Buxton's recovery goes well, all of a sudden you have a very good defensive squad all-around.
  4. Y'all. Imagine Matthew Boyd going from Rick Anderson to Wes Johnson. With his stuff, and a legit pitching coach, he's going to be great. Especially if MLB goes back to a normal baseball, which would help with his biggest weakness. Not that we can count on that.
  5. For the love of God, they can make him playoff eligible. Just like Graterol if they want.
  6. Except he provides more power even in a down year, with the potential to bounce back to previous levels. And Grossman should be no more than a DH so position flexibility doesn't give him an advantage, either.
  7. He gets on base a ton, even in a down year. The Twins need that. Cron isn't going to provide it.
  8. I think you are right in general. However, Machado and Harper are special cases. They've hit the market at a young age and should have a great 5 years or so of production. Then you have to deal with the backend of the contract and that's not great. But the goal should be to win a World Series in those 5 years. And that would make it all worth it. The Twins aren't going to sign one, unfortunately. But I think they should. They have the money.
  9. I’m definely excited by the Wes Johnson hire but slightly nervous that the players won’t respect him. I like the outside the box thinking though.
  10. Some of these takes are absolutely hilarious.
  11. I find it incredibly sad that people want the Twins to jerk Buxton around, considering it's mostly been a lost season due to injury. He plays his ass off. He's got a great attitude. Reward that - don't worry about the Twins maybe having to spend more money to keep him if he ever becomes what we hope. The ONLY people that should be worried about that are the Pohlads. And they have all the money in the world to keep him when that time comes around.
  12. Nothing to do with him playing through a knee issue? Got a bad feeling about that.
  13. Yeah, that Robin Ventura really didn’t pan out.
  14. Impressive return for Lynn. I’m surprised anyone wanted him. p.s. what’s with all the toxic commenters lately?
  15. Would love for this to be a monthly thing. What a time to be a Twins fan.
  16. I mean, he's just up to sit on the bench for hopefully a week. No point in adding someone like Gordon to the roster for a short-term stint.
  17. God, I'm loving his success so far. So refreshing to have a potential ace locked up in the rotation.
  18. I like Garver but he is not someone that stops you from making a trade for JT Realmoto. I would love if they made a deal for him. Anyways, entertaining game with a disappointing finish. But holy overreactions, guys. It's one game. I did not like Molitor's bullpen management. But I'm not worried about any player's performance in the first game of the season.
  19. I'm just going to make one bold prediction. Byron Buxton finishes second to Trout in MVP voting. Book it.
  20. Pretty sweet deal. Major props to the front office. I really like the depth with Mejia, Gonsalvez and Romero down on the farm. If that’s what they end up doing with Mejia.
  21. God, I hate that Souhan and his ilk have influenced fan's opinions on Sano. The guy works hard. Lock him up.
  22. Good trade. Was terrified to see who the Twins gave up, but Ynoa seems like a fair trade.
  23. God, this article and thread are getting me irrationally excited. I'm going to go take a cold shower because I still know this can't last and I can't take the disappointment.
  24. Question for you fine folks, is there any site that provides velocity data for the minor leagues? Curious what Burdi is throwing and also am trying to prepare my Kohl Stewart thread.
