  1. Ryan for Adley Rutschman. Then you can let Jeffers go. I would think he (like Ryan) wants the chance to win someplace, so is unlikely to stay.
  2. He said raise the floor, not the ceiling.
  3. Is there still a AAA world series? If so, the Twins have a chance.
  4. Can we imagine a day, not too far distant, when the hundreds at Target Field see Kreidler, Outman, Jackson, and Brujan in the lineup at the same time? That's four guys who have absolutely proven they can't hit major league pitching. Then imagine, say, Joe Ryan trying to win a ballgame and the steam coming out of his ears. Derek Falvey's "next big push" rolls inexorably on.
  5. When Tom Pohlad took over he commented that when the Twins "rightsized" the payroll to the tune of $30 million, it seemed like a good decision at the time, but they had failed to consider both the short-term and long-term consequences. Are they at it again?
  6. There is no evidence so far that the Twins are even trying to compete. Signing Willi fits perfectly.
  7. One of them might become a major league average hitter. Such are the Twins’ aspirations.
  8. I wish Josh Bell well. May he prosper here. As for the front office lads, it seems to have the same plan every season: Hope everyone on the team has his best-possible year. May lightning strike!
  9. If you mostly want professional RH at-bats you can get Tommy Pham, whose stats were very similar to Walker's last year, for much less, and no confusion at 1B.
  10. It looks like the Twins continue with their "plan" of the last few years: Hope everyone has a surprisingly good season.
  11. I like how he said they made a responsible financial decision without considering the long term or the short term. That’s leadership!
  12. It would be interesting to read an informed analysis of what's in it for the minority investors. If it's true that they get a 20% stake, and it's true (as Forbes has it) that the Twins are worth about $1.6 billion, 20% is $320 million. If the minority partners are going to devote that much -- and thus forego other investments -- they are going to want a substantial return. Where is it going to come from? It can come only from profits or increase in value plus sale in the not-too-distant future. Forbes has the Twins losing money in 2025, whereas CNBC has them one of the most profitable of MLB teams. Anyway, how do the minority partners make a profit on this deal?
  13. You have to wonder what the mysterious limited partners are looking for. The Pohlads have been busy driving down the value of the team. If the new investors are, as rumored, bringing in cash just to bring down the debt, they must be looking forward to a big payoff through a big increase in the team's value. That isn't going to come through signing Josh Bell. Can there be a genuine plan hidden somewhere?
  14. For this team to be any good the stars have to align perfectly (which seems to be the front office's "plan" every year.) Buxton has to repeat; Royce Lewis has to become a genuine star; Lopez and Ryan have to win 15 each; Alan Roden has to be the .300 hitter he was in the minor leagues; Keaschall has to avoid a sophomore slump; Wallner has to hit 30 homers; at least two more stout relievers have to be found; they have to steal bases like crazy.. It COULD happen . . .
  15. "If they want to compete in 2026." That's a big IF, and where is the evidence that they want to do that, or know how to do that? They obviously lack the talent to do that. The Twins' "plan" seems to be, "Maybe everyone will have his career-best season and we win 85 games!"
  16. He seemed to have fun at the State Fair. He's got personality.
  17. Trading Jeffers would be to wave the white flag for 2026. Not that he is great, but they have no one to replace him. Trading Jeffers and keeping Ryan and Lopez and Buxton does not make sense.
  18. The Twins' vaunted "productive" farm system hasn't produced a remotely plausible first baseman since . . . when? Justin Morneau?
  19. The Twins should ask Byron what he wants, and then do that. If he wants to stay, then get him some help.
  20. How about the Twins sign Luis Arraez, Tommy Pham, and Rob Refsnyder? They aren't going to take you to the World Seriesm but they WOULD (unlike, say, Outman and Julien) give your professional at-bats every time, and they wouldn't cost too much. They get you through the season without the embarassment Twins fans now face. Fans would love to see Arraez return and he gets on base!
  21. If, as so many predict, 2027 will be a lockout year, then the calculating is to move stars now for guys who will be stars in 2028 and beyond. Well, no one on earth can predict the future, so the tear-down model is just as likely to fail as to succeed. Given the Twins' leadership's ability, so far, to develop stars, failure seems more likely than success. Yes, it's a tough time to be a Twins fan. I'd rather see youngsters given a chance this season than watch James Outman and Eddie Julien strike out.
