  1. What a complete mess of a game this is
  2. I was thinking about this.... If you're either of the two big names out there at this point do you prefer a 1 year deal? Sure you'd have to do it all over again next winter, but without the draft compensation attached. Counterpoint to that, it sure would be nice to get that guaranteed money you've been chasing for 7 months. If you're a team, how does the price/deal change from before the draft until after it starts. If you're giving up a draft pick you'd like to get more than 4 months out of the guy.... unless the price is right. After the draft, you're just buying a hired gun and he's going to go to the highest bidder. With Keuchel I'd go 2/30 right now and eat the draft pick, but before the draft if I was doing a 1-year deal it'd have to be pretty inexpensive. Like.... $10M. After the draft, I'm sure he'll get a 1-year $15M offer from someone. Pretty much the same thing for Kimbrel, but maybe dial back those prices by 20% The advantage Kimbrel would have is that I'm sure a RP can dial it up to full speed faster than a SP, after the signing.
  3. When I did the math yesterday, the Twins were ahead in HR/Game
  4. Update, 1 week later... OPS by position, MLB Ranking (last week) C - 1st (2) 1B - 21st (18) 2B - 8th (7) 3B - 26th (27) SS - 6th (1) LF - 12th (12) CF - 11th (3) RF - 6th (21) DH - 6th (3) Overall - 1st Interesting that in general, our positional rankings dropped, but our overall ranking moved up to 1st.
  5. So. Many. Walks. In. Key. Spots.
  6. I have never in my life seen a pitcher look so uncomfortable on the mound. And I have a 10yo daughter in kid-pitch softball.
  7. Here's the BRef link (mostly so I don't have to wade through BRef again to find it.... https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/team_compare.cgi?request=1&year=2019&lg=MLB&stat=OPS Twins Ranks by position: C - 2nd 1B - 18th 2B - 7th 3B - 27th SS - 1st LF - 12th CF - 3rd RF - 21st DH - 3rd Overall - 2nd
  8. Posted this on Twitter: League-wide Catcher OPS 1. Cubs 1.279 2. Twins 1.249 3. M’s 0.988 4. Brewers 0.967 5. D-backs 0.824 . . Avg 0.726 . . 26. Jays 0.551 27. Mets 0.549 28. Rangers 0.539 29. Pirates 0.450 30. Royals 0.425 2018 Leader - LAD 0.786
  9. The Twins catchers (as Catchers) have a triple slash of 373/443/806. That's just silly silly good.
  10. Yeah, it feels like were playing with house money at this point. Asking most of us early yesterday, one win in Houston would've been acceptable, all things considered. Anything more than that would have been great.
  11. I mean technically, throw in some pick offs and caught stealings and he might only have to pitch to 9 batters. Once through the order!!!!!
  12. Yes. Think of it this way... you run 1000000 season simulations. The Indians might win the division a higher percentage of the time, but the Twins might average more wins over the 1000000 simulations. Basically, what that tells me is that the floor is much lower for the Indians. A couple things go haywire and all of a sudden it’s a completely lost season. Which I think makes sense based on the rosters.
  13. In Rocco's defense, it wouldn't been hard to anticipate the complete and total meltdown by Odorizzi. Getting Vasquez warm was a backup plan that hard to seem unlikely.
  14. I originally thought it might have hit Syndergaard (it was right at his feet). The guy on 3rd seemed to maybe think the same thing
  15. That 15th out is giving Twins' pitchers fits recently
  16. Technically DeJong had a positive WPA, right?
  17. We’ve got literally one of the best players in MLB history at putting the ball in play.... and we don’t use him when we need to put a ball in play. Sweet Jesus this is going to get frustrating if they keep coddling to the egos of players who might get hurt because they got pinch hit for.
  18. Could you imagine if they really went all in on a tank? They’d have the best farm system in baseball by a mile. Not that I think they should do this, but MAN could they load up on prospects.
  19. Can I predict that only one everyday player (Gonzalez) outperforms their spring training OPS. I was looking at the final triple slash number for spring and I think I’d take every single one of them, other than of course Gonzalez and maybe Cruz
  20. You know that chart that shows organizational strikeouts for the year and it's color coordinated by the level (AAA, AA, Rookie, etc). This would be a really interesting chart. Country of birth for all players in the organization (maybe Low A and higher). Color coordinated, by country.
  21. I can't help but think that Toronto might be being pressured by their government. They probably do not get all the benefits of the Antitrust exemption that the other 29 teams get.
