  1. I'm confused... Kepler is a good corner OF defender and can play a passable CF in a pinch.
  2. I’ve never heard anyone state that they didn’t think Kirillof could stick at corner OF
  3. I bet there will be a few very aggressive prospect rankings for Kirilloff this winter. Top 20 The mid-season ones were before he did the same thing at High-A as he did at Low-A.
  4. Plus... “never gotten all the way back from his wrist injury” seems like more of a reason to prefer Austin. I mean, eventually that injury should be healed. What is Bird’s excuse? Wait... isn’t Bird always injured?
  5. Why wouldn't they think the team would be competitive?
  6. That was a pathetic effort by Adrianza.
  7. What's striking... look at the length of the games https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/MIN/1983-schedule-scores.shtml I'm not a "THE GAMES ARE TAKING TOO LONG" guy, but holy cow, the non extra inning games the last few months look like they average less than 2:30.
  8. 25-25 their last 50 games
  9. Baltimore can officially be eliminated from the playoffs today
  10. "LoFo" made me giggle. But I though about it and decided I like "LoFor" better (pronounced "Loafer"). Like a comfy old shoe I'd wear around the house.
  11. I just looked at the MLB standings and sorted by the whole league. We are 11th worst. My main takeaway though.... Seattle is 17 games over .500 with a minus-42 run differential and the Mets are 15 games under .500 with a minus-43 run differential. Baseball is silly sometimes.
  12. I'm pretty much with Brock on this one. It seems like with the other major sports there is enough of an advantage to tanking that, while painful, it is worth it. In order for a Twins tank to be effective, at this point, and really make an appreciable difference to the draft next June, we'd have to lose like 90% of our games. Ultimately all I really care about are the performances of players who will be a part of 2019 and beyond, but in order for us to tank bad enough, the players I want to see do well would almost all have to play terribly. I don't want that. I mean, I guess if all of our starters would throw 6 scoreless, the offense would give them 7 runs of support, a couple relievers would throw a couple scoreless frames, then Belisle would come in for the 9th and give up 8 run every night, I'd be ok with that. But while I know Matt could give up 8 easily, I'm not sure we could keep him fresh enough to do that every night.
  13. This is why: http://www.espn.com/mlb/team/roster/_/name/min/minnesota-twins
  14. Someone was listening to the Initials Game this morning
  15. Perhaps a little uptick in Dozier’s performance can be expected with Machado hitting behind him instead of Morrison.
  16. Let’s talk in September when the smallness of the sample isn’t so comical.
  17. DFA our cleanup hitter?!?!?! Madness!
  18. And yet Twitter is ablaze with Twins fans whining about not getting a top 50 prospect at the trade deadline and “only” getting 11 B-/C+ prospects.
  19. Yeah.. you said it better than I did. It would be one thing if Rooker was slowly working his way through the system and it felt like they were holding him back. But he was drafted like 14 months ago and is already in AA. After his very slow start he's doing quite well, but it's not like he's just absolutely embarrassing the league. His OPS in the last 70 games in around 1.000, which is really good, but not "why the hell haven't we called this guy up" good.
  20. You're probably right... My main point was the 40-man spot but i tossed in the Options part
  21. I find it unlikely that very many (if any) additions to the 40-man are made before the offseason, with the only exception being player that would have to be added anyway to protect from Rule 5. Rooker is the most glaring example to someone who is playing well enough that you wouldn't be shocked if he was called up, but I just can't see them starting his option years and "clogging" a 40-man spot with him when they don't have to.
  22. Well, we just picked up 15 guys in trades that look like half-WAR guys. They are all 500k for their first few years. Well on our way!
