What Happened to Jose Berrios?
Azviking101 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This happens often when players get their huge contract. MLB deals are all guaranteed. He worked his butt off to get where he is now and get that huge contract. Is he working as hard as he did before the deal? Who knows. Maybe it is just a bad first half, but you can't assume everyone wants to win a championship the same amount. Money is more important to some. Once again, not accusing him of anything, but it wouldn't be the first time in history someone secured their bag and took it a little easy.- 25 replies

Jose Miranda Deserves a Shot
Azviking101 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Concur. Might be able to get a nice bullpen piece for him and a low minors flyer. The biggest issue I see here is teams making trades at the deadline are looking to add or subtract major leauge talent. It's very rare you see a team add to one part of the team while subtracting from the other. It's rare to see two teams all in trading with each other at the deadline. If the Twins are in and trading for pitching help, a guy like Gio is either a throw in for salary reasons or not traded at all. -
"But the Twins don't have the luxury of letting sentimentality affect their decision-making. Baldelli simply cannot stand idly by and let another season spin off the rails out of deference to a bad relief pitcher based on nothing more than stature and track record. He just can't." Does anyone really believe Rocco will make the right decision early? I don't. Duffey will ruin the season early just like Colome did.

Trevor Story’s Splits Shouldn’t Scare You

For anyone who has the athletic, Gleeman posted an article about Story’s splits 30 minutes ago that actually makes sense. -
Trevor Story’s Splits Shouldn’t Scare You
Azviking101 replied to Thiéres Rabelo's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
OPS+ shows the exact same thing. He's trying to compare stats from the player in his mid 20s to stats in their mid 30s after years of injuries. Also he furthers his ridiculous argument by showing OPS of Arenado and Lemahieu at the bottom, but somehow me mentioning OPS is wrong? This guy is legitimately comparing Giambi's roided up days with the A's and Yankees to his 40 year old seasons with the Rockies. Insane is what it is. -
Trevor Story’s Splits Shouldn’t Scare You
Azviking101 replied to Thiéres Rabelo's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Also, this list is mostly made up of players in the dying days of their careers. "Now here's where it gets fun: This a table of Free Agents that the Rockies signed after these players had lengthy careers with other teams. Playing at Coors should improve their wRC+ cuz Coors, right? Well, take a look:" Morneau, Giambi, Reynolds, Cuddy all entered Colorado in the dying days of their careers and each saw immediate resurgences OPS below of each player the year before joining Colorado and the first yr in Colorado Morneau- .741 and .681 in prior years. .860 first year OPS with Colorado Giambi- .697 OPS prior year. .776 and ,958 next two short seasons ( he was only averaging 180 PAs at this point in his career cause he was near his 40s) Reynolds- .681 and .731 before. .806 and ,839 with Colorado. Cuddyer- .753 and ,805 before. .806 and .919 with Colorado. Some of these are not huge changes, but all of these occur at later points in players careers when their numbers should be getting worse. Showing the stats of a player in their prime and then saying their numbers got worse in their mid to late 30s with Colorado is ridiculous. -
Trevor Story’s Splits Shouldn’t Scare You
Azviking101 replied to Thiéres Rabelo's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
"also the contrary, players whose offensive productivity decreased after they joined the Rockies from other teams. Can you guess a former Twin, winner of an MVP in Minnesota, who falls in that last category?" What on earth are you talking about? Morneau's career was over. 3 brutal seasons in a row 2011-2013 and then a career resurgence in Colorado. .860 OPS and .821 OPS in consecutive seasons with MVP votes. Did you do your homework at all? You cannot compare his Colorado numbers to his pre-concussion numbers. -
The Twins Have a Yellow Brick Road
Azviking101 replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Love it. Wonder if the Twins could take on Story and some of Andrus' salary to lighten the prospect load for Montas? Would love Trivino as well. I suspect this would put the Twins over the budget by a bit too much. Not really any use for Andrus' but Oakland would definitley appreciate it and might save Twins a better prospect. -
The fact that this trade was done without a deal on the side already completed shows that the twins are fine not competing this year if they don’t get their guy, which at this point is very clearly Trevor Story. I don’t think Story makes this team much better but that’s a story for another time.

A Perfect Free Agent Exists for the Twins
Azviking101 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I just cannot believe that they and some fans think that they can field a solid rotation of Ryan, Ober, Bundy, Balazovic, Winder, Duran etc. It's more than likely that more than half of these guys are total busts or back of the rotation/bullpen guys. Most pitching prospects don't make it, and the Twins success numbers are worse than most. Ryan looked good in a tiny sample, but the guy throws 90% fastballs under 93 MPH. I know his release is weird, but how long until other teams catch on and crush him? I liked Ober, but at best he's a number 3. I just don't expect much from these prospects and until things change and they start to come around, I'm under the assumption that most of them are going to struggle at the MLB level this year.- 61 replies

I wasn't aware his fastball velocity was only 90 nowadays. Thought he still was in the mid 90s
-
Sadly I will be negative until they do something to change that. No faith over here

I honestly think the Twins ownership is terrified to give away money to tell someone to leave. I think they want to milk any sort of productivity possible out of these guys. There's no other way to explain guys like Shoemaker and Happ (still no clue how they got someone to trade for him) and now Simmons being on the roster as long as they have.
-
It's time for him to go after his latest twitter post today. His views are completely contradictory of the organizations. These posts all came after he caused the Covid shutdown as OP mentioned. This has to be the last straw with him. If they don't DFA him today, then they won't.

Going Forward - Retool or Rebuild?
Azviking101 commented on mike8791's blog entry in mike8791's Blog
I think they could retool, but it will take some good free agent signings. Let's look at starting pitching free agency from last year. Twins signed Happ and Shoemaker which has been a mess. Here were some low cost free agents that have had good years. Charlie Morton, Kevin Gausman, Anthony Desclafani, Rich Hill, Carlos Rodon, Taijuan Walker, Corey Kluber, Alex Wood. They're out there, but the Twins aren't getting them. -
Game Recap: Astros 6, Twins 4
Azviking101 replied to Thiéres Rabelo's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
How is the number 1 option unattractive? Rogers last pitched 3 days ago and just threw 3 pitches. There was no logical sense in removing him knowing you had to find someone for the last 2 innings -
Game Recap: Astros 6, Twins 4
Azviking101 replied to Thiéres Rabelo's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don’t know how anyone could defend Rocco ever again after this one. Even the players are likely losing faith. No sane person would ever remove a 3 days tested Rogers after a dominant 3 pitches for Shoemaker. rocco has this ridiculous notion that if the twins are losing by even 1 run the game is likely over and he can’t use his best relievers. Well nice job idiot, this entire loss was on you. -
The Real Josh Donaldson is Coming
Azviking101 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Seems more like he's loafing around because he's making big bucks now. This entire situation will set the Twins back to the Terry Ryan days once again. Finally they pay big money and this is the bum they get. AAA players would provide more value simply because they know how to hustle and won't be injured 24/7. Sadly, the Twins will not be back next year. It's going to be a long time before they're good again -
