    With Castro up it’s normally a fine strategy but in this case with Bibee not even close to the strike zone it’s dumb

    Bibee not even close to the strike zone so let’s swing or bunt at 6 straight pitches after the 2 walks. The amount of times they get in their own way is astounding

    I don’t think extra wins would be easily calculated or very important because as we’ve seen, everything would have needed to go terrible wrong for them to drop out of the division lead, and they were basically guaranteed the 3 seed anyway. with that being said, having only 4 reliable relievers has put a huge strain on the pen and all 4 are showing signs of overwork. Twins aren’t leading the league in bullpen innings, but they’re near the top in close games in the late innings and when they’ve played the second half with only 3 or 4 good, healthy relievers with the rest being dreadful, that’s a recipe for potential disaster. The twins offense decided to become a top 5 offense in the second half though, so it doesn’t matter. The hope now is that they can lock this up early, rest Thielbar, Duran and Jax and either get quality innings out of Varland or get Stewart back healthy. I think they’ll likely get one of those.

    I literally mentioned multiple times here and twitter that Cleveland winning the series would give them the confidence to go out and claim everyone and look what happened. multiple twins daily writers said that Cleveland would never spend the money

    I was very surprised to see them above the Dbacks and Red Sox. Something I’d seen the other day suggested they didn’t hold those tie breakers. That being said, Miami is almost guaranteed to claim a reliever which means Moore is gone. I’d be shocked if Lopez fell to us. I could see getting one of the trio of OFs but fixing the pen is much more dire of a situation.

    Giants are officially behind the twins in waiver order now and we should all be cheering on the dbacks tonight.

    Literally all they would have had to do was put in a clause that if a team makes a successful claim they move to the back of the waiver order. Pretty simple and makes too much sense. I don’t see how anyone would have opposed that. But they didn’t even think about it

    Cleveland might now have the hope that it's wide open and if they get, let's say Moore, Giolito and Grichuk, that improves their chances even more. At the very least it hurts the Twins chances to get anyone here. While I agree the Twins should win this division, this was a bad loss and it hurts the Twins opportunity to actually do something in the playoffs. Can't wait to lead more games through 6 and watch them crumble in an instant.

    Abysmal loss. Now we have to worry that Cleveland has basically first dibs of any team with a potential playoff shot at the waiver wire players. Folks, this division is wide open. Twins just gave them the confidence to put waiver claims in. Remains to be seen if they will do that but Twins just gave them an in.

    All the numbers have shown that the fastball is the pitch the opponent consistently crushes, but nothing worked today, that’s for sure.

    on one hand, losing and moving up the waiver wire order would be great, but losing the series to Cleveland could give them the confidence to claim some of those guys which we do not want.

    With how the bullpen is looking, If we learn that the twins did not put in a waiver claim for both Lopez and Moore then I think we’re all allowed to riot.

    Fangraphs just confirmed one team can potentially get every player put on waivers today. They won’t move to the back for making a successful claim. What an absolute joke. Manfred is the absolute worst.

    Ok now I’m seeing that if a team makes a successful claim off outright waivers they move to the back. I really wish someone would confirm this

    I know this was not expected and the MLB will likely fix this for next season but it’s ridiculous that one team could potentially get all these players. The fact that teams don’t move to the back of the order after a successful claim is bonkers. They’ll likely all get scooped up by Marlins, Giants, reds

    And if Falvey is telling Rocco to keep Ober’s pitch count around 75 per game regardless of how he’s pitching who gets the blame? obvious speculation here but you’re doing the exact same assuming it’s all Rocco’s decision

    Falvey is exactly the reason why Floro is on this team and was brought into a 1 run game in the 6th inning. Because he decided he needed a break from the trade deadline due to PTSD

    The look on Pete Maki’s face there says it all. Bunch of guys underqualified to operate and coach in the majors

    If they’re trying to manage his innings he shouldn’t be pitching. You can’t operate a team trying to make the playoffs with a starter who’s pitch limit is 75 pitches
