  1. Bieber thinking of Sano and Broxton in the same lineup.
  2. I'm an Astudillo fan. We call him Build-A-Bear in my circles. I hope he gets that 26th spot, and I agree with the posts above that state he's a good fit for that part of the roster. With Rosario gone, the team needs some of the other animated or different players to keep it fun. Astudillo, along with Arraez, Cruz (love the robe), Donaldson and Dobnak (in his own way) are the ones that I think will be the foundation for fun. I hope some others pop up over the course of the season. The Twins have plenty of players that can take care of the SABR-$h!t. It's a long season, and the Twins aren't going to win the World Series every year. That doesn't mean it won't happen this year, or that the journey can't be a good time. If the Twins don't make the playoffs, or don't play meaningful games in September, or get swept in round 1, and someone can prove that having Astudillo occupying the 26th spot on the roster is to blame, I will gladly net (can't discharge a firearm where I live) a crow on my lawn and roast it up for an evening meal.
  3. Good luck, Wade, Jr! I do think this is a solid move. They dealt from depth (especially the L/L outfield pile) and acquired a bullpen arm that can ride the LRT between St. Paul and Minneapolis for two years, if necessary.
  4. Odorizzi pitched some good games for the Twins, but I hope he lands somewhere else. If he does come back, I'll root for him. Honestly, he isn't my favorite pitcher to watch. I much prefer watching Dobnak. I do understand that Dobnak may be figured out and doesn't have the stuff that Odorizzi has. Dobnak also seems to be content yet hungry with any role he is given, so another option at the 5th spot would be better for depth. This says nothing about the possibility that the Twins go the neo-unconventional route with handling innings on the backside of the rotation.
  5. Baldelli and the hitting coach should be fired. He can take his avocado's and shove them while he the door hits him in the rear end.
  6. #6 ... The Twins are probably the second favorite team of 14/15ths of the league and fan bases through Thursday. The Astros need to be kicked quickly from this tournament. Unleash the hate!!!!
  7. At least the Reds can't catch the Cubs or Padres, so they'll be lining up their best for the playoffs at this point. Need a big start from Big Mike tonight.
  8. They're gonna play the Yankees, and they're gonna lose. Get ready for winter.
  9. I'm not sure the White Sox series is the time to do it, but I hope Wade Jr. gets a lot of opportunities down the stretch. He has a .350 OBP over his first 100 ML PAs. If the Twins don't have room with all the outfielders knocking at the door soon, I'd bet Oakland snatches him up. He'd probably have a nice career there.
  10. ... and the answer is Devin Smeltzer
  11. Hopefully, Lindor will sign with an NL team other than Milwaukee, and we won't have to see him more than three or four times every three years.
  12. Rooker is going to remind us of Willingham and Delmon Young in LF. He's a DH, and he'll probably be a good one.
  13. Why does this guy's name always come up, when he isn't an upgrade?
  14. Umm ... No. And Jose Abreu might have something to say about who is leading the Chicago White Sox.
  15. Are you looking to catch Chicago or Kansas City?
  16. "Solo home runs will never hurt you ..... I should know."
  17. Hopefully, Donaldson coming back will remedy some of that, but Adrianza had a couple key moments late. First, he convinced Captain Helicopter to let him stay in the game and avoid a major wildcard situation with Eddie in the infield late. Then, he made a situation saving play at third in the top of the ninth (shout out to Sano on the assist there).
  18. No S*** .... Losing 6 to close out August isn't pretty, but they still have 5 to go to catch the 2016 team that lost 11 to close out August (and that's after opening the season 0-9) The last week has sucked with the losing, the delays and the general wasting of time, but these Twins have a long way to go to reach the bottom.
  19. Womp, womp. Article after article. Post after post. All the speculation can only buy an empty bag after a 3-7 road trip. Ildamaro Vargas is the FO's haul!
  20. Thank you for actually suggesting something that can move things forward. All we're hearing are the same cliches: "We need change", "We need to have tough conversations", "Let's throw money at it". We've been hearing those empty statements for years, and nothing gets done. The Phillies, for example, could have used their big bad platform to point to the legislation in Pennsylvania that could completely gut their arbitration process, but, no, it's just the same old "We stand in solidarity". "Look at us, we, like, rescheduled a game. Like, we totally, like, helped those people."
  21. It doesn't appear that the Pirates and Cardinals players care. They were the only two teams that didn't fall in line. Oh wait, they had a double-header. Rescheduling that would be too inconvenient for a social justice statement. The whole charade is a farce.
  22. I agree that consequences are not necessary to make a statement. I just wish the statements coming from each team weren't so generic. I also think the message has little clout when someone can just change the channel and watch a different game. That's what makes me thinks the teams are just falling in line as to not be singled out. It feels disingenuous. Every player probably feels like the guy in the commercial mulling over checking the organ donorship box on his driver's license. The entire room is staring at him, so he decides that he can lose the glaring eyes and maybe feel better about himself. Anyone who thinks that 100% of the players have strong feelings about this is just blinded by idealism.
