  1. Baldelli can't stand in the box and face a future HOFer completely dialed in. He also used the appropriate BP arms considering the situation.
  2. Ellen has officially removed Vesia from the Xmas card list.
  3. Bunt, Buck! We need an unwritten rules nuclear twitter thread.
  4. Looks like Kershaw might pitch a perfect game.
  5. I'd be fine if they give LF to Gordon for the time being. He was hitting in ST, improved in CF when forced into it last season and brings the speed dynamic. He doesn't have the greatest arm, but Correa can just line up a bit deeper on the cutoffs. Nick doesn't have any options left, so give him the chance to earn it or set sail in the offseason. It could be the opportunity to have a guy become a true super-sub like Marwin or Chris Taylor (neither of which did a whole lot until their age 26 season).
  6. Thanks, I'm happy to help myself and others spend as little money as possible watching baseball. If Twins Daily ever wanted some posts on "How to ...." (Nevermind)
  7. That only works for 60-day IL, not 10-day IL. You want to sit him down for 2 months?
  8. I'll trade you Steven Kwan for Alex Kirilloff. Deal?
  9. If those two can't catch it, nobody will
  10. Can we get game threads linked on the front page?
  11. This looks to be a classic case of taking an opportunity to buy low. It takes risk to see reward, and the Twins need to win some of these to make up ground on the free-spending big guns. It's a great trade looking through the long term lens. I wish Rogers the best in San Diego. He was a great player for the Twins, but the page has turned. He'll get to play against his brother more often, so that should be a bonus for him.
  12. Ryan is starting because he came into camp more prepared and ready to be stretched out than the rest of the starting staff. He's been able to ramp up at a more advanced pace. It's a vote of confidence that he earned, but it's also a result of the abbreviated ST. Regardless, I'll be surprised if he's sent out for the 5th inning. Some fun facts about those other two rookie OD starters: Steve Busby was matched up against a different Ryan - HOFer Nolan Ryan. Busby went 4.1 innings. Ryan pitched a complete game and struck out 12. Jose Guzman was matched up against perennial Blue Jays ace Dave Stieb. In this one, Stieb was the one who only went 4.1 innings, while Guzman went 8 innings and picked up the win.
  13. Northfield's Jake Petricka signed to the minors. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/03/twins-sign-jake-petricka-minor-league-deal.html If he somehow makes it up to the Twins, they'll have two Northfield natives. Would be cool for a town of 21K to have to big leaugers on the hometown team.
  14. I'll echo the comments above that the Twins are definitely due, but Liriano set the bar extremely high. I'll get excited if we can just get a couple more Ober performances that then improve in the following years (including Ober). The pitching that this FO has drafted and acquired is actually looking up. Ober was from the 2017 draft, Winder was from the 2018 draft, Canterino and Varland were from the 2019 draft. If just those four pan out along with the Ryan, Duran and Alcala acquisitions, I guess the promise of the pitching pipeline will be coming together.
  15. Chi Chi needed a roommate.
  16. I'll take the under on the 83.8 wins that are mentioned.
  17. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/03/reds-top-prospect-hunter-greene-opening-day-rotation.html Good for him. Twins need pitching. Lewis and Enlow still a ways out.
  18. At this point, Winder is stretched out more. Archer won't be ready to be much more than an opener in 9 days. I think we're about to see out-getter April. Zero quality starts in the first month is a real possibility. Hopefully, that 28-man roster helps that not become a disaster.
  19. I hope I'm wrong, but Archer does nothing for me. TOS is such a career killer that the odds seem pretty stacked against success here. If Winder needs a few starts in St. Paul, so be it. I'd guess Archer will go the way of Shoemaker in 2021.
  20. Is this a possibility for the Opening Day lineup? I guess we will see. Robbie Ray's a lefty, so this might be it.
  21. I'm not against getting another arm in the rotation, but I won't consider it a disappointment if it's Winder. After all, the team has 6 years of control, and he doesn't cost any prospects. His salary will also be easy to work into the payroll. Who knows? Maybe it will be both and a six-man rotation.
  22. Winder looks like a guy built to eat innings. I'd bet that he's added a few good pounds to the listed 210 on that 6'5" frame. Hope he isn't one that gets moved in a deal. I was impressed watching him today on the Free Game.
