  1. This. The FO sometimes just seems paralyzed by risk adversity. Things like signing Correa and letting Ryan have Opening Day made me think that was going away. They drafted this guy #1 overall with their first pick as an FO. Character and Athleticism were the key attributes used to sell him as "the guy". They were obviously right on the character so far, as Lewis showed by handling the dead season and devastating injury in back to back years. He basically picked up right where he left off in the 2019 AFL. So now on to athleticism, Lewis isn't at shortstop because that's the only position he can play. He's there because he's better at it than everyone else. He's probably better at all the other positions (save pitcher and catcher) than everyone else too. He doesn't need to dumb it down.
  2. Minnesota Twins! Get to know 'em! ... even though we aren't going to let you see them play most nights
  3. Problem: Baby formula in short supply Idea: Let's overturn Roe v Wade ?‍♂️
  4. Was he John Coffey? That's who Alex needs right now.
  5. Lewis needs to stay up and just learn whatever position on the fly.
  6. Wow, lots of good pitching performances. I feel like Chi Chi is going to get his day again, but I have zero expectations. CES has been impressive, but 74 hits is his career MiLB total. He has 40 in 2022 (still impressive in early/mid-May).
  7. Clean inning for Gordon, and a fastball that's about the same as Bundy's.
  8. I saw four guys in the picture and only three pitchers in the box score .... Oh, the guy who caught all those pitches, dumbass
  9. Well, a career third of a year (thanks to ****in' covid).
  10. Lose a game, lose your shortstop and get a bunch of COVID. Fun day.
  11. The Captain has ordered you to swab the deck and get rid of the Odor.
  12. I suppose Bundy doesn't matter for a day considering he pitched yesterday, but will the Twins be able to bring up a guy to fill in for Arraez? Is this how Royce Lewis makes his debut? I like how they updated the protocol for returning: two negative PCR tests, at least 24 hours without a fever, and approval from a team doctor and a MLB/MLBPA joint committee of two other physicians. That's better than a blanket number of days for everyone.
  13. Not necessarily what I think will happen, but I agree with comments about the six-man rotation. Gray has started 30 or more games only once since 2015. Archer hasn't been a workhorse since 2017. Bundy has really struggled the last couple times out. After that, you have all the young guys. I won't be surprised if even the smallest ailment lands starters on the IL from time to time. That seems to be what was done with Ober. His "probably the right move on a cold day" comment made me think so anyway. After the ASB: 1) Ryan 2) Winder 3) Gray 4) Paddack 5) Ober 6) Archer That's my call. Any one of those six could be on the IL and replaced by Bundy, or they go down to a five-man during that time.
  14. Well, pinch that one off and flush 'er down. Win the series tomorrow.
  15. I was in the 79-80 wins camp, but I'm up to 81-82 wins. Splitting in Boston, sweeping Chicago at home and winning at St. Petersburg (Tampa) has me a bit more optimistic. A 20-Win May would probably have me adjusting again. The schedule begs that a good team should be able to do that.
  16. The veterans, sans Bundy, have done a good job showing the younger guys what not to do like get hurt (Gray), sign late (Archer), blow leads (Duffey) and just get destroyed and give your team no chance to win (Thielbar). I state "sans Bundy", because he did have that one game where he gave up four runs in the first inning, but then he proceeded to only give up a couple runs over the next five innings. It was still a loss, but he chewed up six innings and the bullpen didn't get wasted in the first game of that series. Wes Anderson can tell you how fantastic Mr. Fox is, but I doubt he'll be able to coach up any of the Twins young pitchers.
  17. The schedule sure sets up nice this month to keep the Twins in the spotlight. The winning percentage of the teams they play the rest of May is .406. It gets even better though. They have two series each against Detroit, KC and Oakland, who combine for a .369 winning percentage. It's really just a matter of health. So, if Buck sits a little more than we all would like, hopefully it will mean that he's available when the schedule starts to toughen up in June (Blue Jays, Yankees, Rays, Mariners).
  18. I'm a huge Ryan fan, but I voted for Duran. I just hadn't ever seen him pitch, and his stuff is ridiculous. Winder looks like he was built to pitch baseballs, so I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up having the most success over a long period of time. I'm just glad we get to enjoy all three of them for the next six years, and I hope they can all stay healthy.
  19. I think the only other possibilities are wizard or sorcerer.
  20. So this is what dinkin' around with Thorpe cost 'em.
  21. If we can get Pedro Cerrano's locker setup in the clubhouse and then somehow get Bernie Madoff's spirit to possess Falvey, we just might be able to pull that off.
  22. Stashak has been used in situations that are more than low-leverage mop-up the last two times out, and he's pitched pretty well. He got ready in a hurry and took over for the injured Ober against Detroit, and then he came into a tie game and threw up a zero against the Rays. I wouldn't be using him to close games or anything at this point, but I think he's earned more opportunities. He was pretty banged up last season, so I'm willing to take another look with a rather clean slate. If he turns into another Hindenburger, then sure cut bait or LRT to the Saints.
