  1. Those who have it on TV, what will "butts in the seats" count be?
  2. As it starting 33-yr old Urena who has never done squat in any of his years.
  3. I am talking the game in general. If the owners are demanding a salary cap and lock out, then a negotiation chip is a reduced schedule. A beginning position in negotiations, that's all.
  4. If? Players should agree to a salary cap and demand a more civilized 154 games per year.
  5. Taylor Rogers on in the 4th for the Cubs. Just served up a gopher ball. Former Twins Day at Wrigley.
  6. Option #4. Follow other ball. Yesterday I listened to the radio broadcast of Reds/Brewers. Best broadcast (thanks to Tommy Thrall/Jeff Brantley - take note Atteberry/Gladin) and game I have heard all year. Back and forth as Brewers streaked for 15th in a row. Reds prevailed. Listened to the Dodgers/Padres series all weekend. Listen to the Yanks for Susie (great access to back stories and insights) and seek Yanks to get thumped. Listen to Giants and Jon Miller doing a stellar job on play-by-play, Tom Hamilton edging in as a delightful homer and Dan Dickerson calling the best play by play of any broadcaster. Toss in Berrios game from Toronto (good radio booth) and my life is very full for $25/yr on MLB.com. Lots of options out there, especially those of you with MLB.TV. Play ball! And keep posting on TD, folks.
  7. I too wanted to see Hunter Greene but once drafted, I got aboard the Lewis train. I got off when it slowed again this month. Love the spirit but the frame can't manage the game. https://www.mlb.com/player/hunter-greene-668881
  8. MLB.com this afternoon. https://www.mlb.com/tv/g777459/vca703a77-1fa0-4c46-baa6-9445bc3ac1ad?affiliateId=MINISB#game=777459,tfs=20250619_000500,game_state=live
  9. Smart topic and well researched. MLB.com took a look at power rankings this a.m. Twins ranked #26 with these comments about Lewis: "So when do we maybe have to start being a little bit more realistic about Royce Lewis? Over his last 103 games, all the way back to August 2024, here are his numbers: .213/.266/.315, with a 62 wRC+. That makes him, um, one of the worst hitters in the sport during that time..." I am no ortho doc, but have to believe that underlying issues stem from two ACLs and the imperfect healing that results from ortho surgery. Been there, got the 'gimps.'
  10. The worst part continues; Joe Pohlad is in charge. He has never worked outside the Pohlad umbrella. That he could maneuver both the business and baseball ends for the Twins is the ultimate long bet.
  11. While greatly disappointed at the news, I don't hate the Twins. I just go, "Meh..." For the past 12 years, I averaged 10 games a year. This year? 0. They play such unimaginative ball. There is no zeal, no desire to put fans into seats by providing an entertaining style of ball. I believe part of that is complacent leadership and personality driven. So what's the option? I listen to a ton of games. I scour MLB for pitching matchups, who is streaking, a game which is critical to the division lead, who is announcing. I listen to a ton of Reds, Giants, Dodgers, Guardians, and Tigers. I have town ball, where I see at times more desire than I do from millionaires playing ball. I am not asking for bloated payrolls. I am not asking for division titles. I am asking for a product which will command my attention. I don't think that is expecting too much.
  12. "Minnesota has preferred to give its leadership groups extended time to execute their vision..." This leadership group has had 9 years and they have not executed a vision other than mediocrity. I am afraid today's news is all bad news. Two hedge funds toss in their $MM, Pohlad drains the organization of cash , Falvey remains a fair-haired boy, and Twins tumble around 3rd or 4th place for 9 more years. They have lost me.
  13. Listened to the Dodgers game, where they announced Stewart was down for the count. 15-day IL, shoulder inflammation, where it is hoped he could return before the end of the season. https://www.mlb.com/news/dodgers-injuries-and-roster-moves
  14. $10MM Mendoza LF candidate for the Phillies. Max Kepler, .204/.659
  15. Good analogy. My Target Card w/a 5% discount equates to Falvey bottom fishing with Rule 5 candidates.
  16. Not sure about other clubs and the wire has no hints on recurrent injuries. I think the Twins are marching on, kissing this year off, using the remainder of the season as an extended Spring training. Don't expect to see ol' (should I say old?) 36 yr old #55 in a Twins uniform again.
  17. UmpScorecards had her at a 92.72. I don't know enough about where the data/radar graphs are coming from but the NYPost article again suggests it is about par for a rookie ump. https://nypost.com/2025/08/11/sports/jen-pawols-ump-scorecard-for-mlb-home-plate-debut-revealed/
  18. Radar graph off Reddit. 91%. On the low side but note good discussion on Reddit forum (click comments) about umps' 1st games (all on low side) in MLB compared to how they improve with time in MLB. Pawol was also the 1st woman to ump at the AAA level. Just like ballplayers at the AAA going to MLB, rooks need some time in the big leagues before shining.. She has done over 1000 minor league games. Imagine the miles she has put on her car, the bus rides, and all the McDonalds consumed. All the bad coffee. Congrats, Jen.
  19. "“It was pretty amazing when we took the field, and it seemed like quite a few people started clapping and saying my name and stuff, so that was pretty intense and very emotional,” said Pawol, who still fought back those emotions an hour after the game ended, when she talked with reporters about the historic moment..." https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6543691/2025/08/09/mlb-first-female-umpire-debut/ I will post her call chart once it is posted tomorrow.
  20. Gibby and his wife always did volunteer work, often in the Caribbean -- DR and Haiti. Absolutely commendable in addition to all his charity work in the States. On the mound? I remember moving to The Cities and how his nibbling just annoyed the dickens out me. Still followed his career post-Twins just because I respected the heck out of him. He is doing a podcast with Lance Lynn now, whom I never cared much for.
